Motherwell waiting to discover whether Europa League opponents are allowed into country Jul 21 2009 By Alan Marshall MOTHERWELL'S Europa League rivals are struggling to travel to Scotland because the British Embassy has delayed issuing them visas. Albanian side SK Flamurtari are due to arrive in the UK tomorrow to face Jim Gannon's men at Airdrie on Thursday. But there are serious doubts over whether the Eastern European side will be able to fulfil the fixture because of a row over visas. All Albanians who enter the UK require visas, but the British Embassy in Tirana has refused to hand out the required documents until they make further inquiries. Flamurtari chairman Shpetim Gjika said: "There has been a delay in processing our visas. The British Embassy has said we must declare all our players as employees for tax reasons. "We are very surprised by this and we can only hope the Embassy accepts our paperwork in time as we have a tight deadline. "If they continue to delay handing out visas then there is a real risk we could miss the game. "We are confused by the Embassy's request. If we are delayed any further, we will miss our flight to Scotland and it would greatly complicate everything." A spokeswoman for the British Embassy refused to say whether Flamurtari would be able to cut through the red tape. She said: "We only received the paperwork from the club on Friday and it is still being considered. "They will receive an answer from us in due course." Motherwell were embroiled in controversy last week after advising their fans not to travel to the Albanian city of Vlore for their first leg, which ended in a controversial 1-0 defeat for the Lanarkshire men. They had to retract their warning after British Embassy staff insisted the area was perfectly safe to visit. Now Flamurtari are in a real sweat to make the return leg in Airdrie

Wouldnt mind another centre back aswell. Still dont have much confidence with Craggs and Reynolds all season.
-
Would agree with that one. Just now we've lost the backbone of our team and at present only have a couple of potentially good players (and Michael Fraser) in, aswell as plugging up other areas with kids. Some good football, comfortably away from relegation and a good cup run would be a decent effort from Gannon.

I'll see your 'crap'....and raise you a 'dod a sh*te please dont go near him'

The boys on loan from Barca

The story didnt really need to be 'nationalised' and its poor show on those involved (especially the d*cks that carried out the attack in the first place)
-
Total unknown entity. We could go there get hammered four nil, or we could smash them like a pub team (llanelli first leg aside). As a total guess i've got a feeling we'll be leaving Albania after a slender defeat.

Another body in the door...lets hope a half decent one

Thats the way i see it. The Old Firm has no interest in saving scottish football, only themselves.
-
Are the Old firm not looking to buy the rights for 25 million from the SPL, which they'd still be part of and still privvy to a share. Although they would be taking a hit by buying the rights you have to be suspicious of their motives long term. Control? Better financial package for themselves? As last years 5% ticket levy showed, the old firm care about themselves, and themselves only. And that my friends is post 100...cheers
-
SPL TV Also, using the Old firm calculator. They dont believe that 65 million over 5 years is a good deal...that'll be 13 mil a year. But they believe the rights are worth 25 million over two years...obviously coming out at 12.5 mill a year. Agree that five years is an excessive contract with the 'derisory' offer from sky/espn. But surely dont dangle a carrot of less money a year infront of SPL teams to get their support?
-
What a speech!!!! I think i'd fight wars for this boy!! My memory is hazy from the time, but didnt the old firm set out to destroy the original 'SPL TV'?? Now when they group together and other us their own version we're just meant to agree like lemmings? Nah, f*ck right off.

Glad i rushed out getting all that canterbury leisurewear last week

Hughes is a quality midfielder, would rather he was in our team than facing us. My only complaint was he disappeared in some games, especially last season. When we needed a bit of magic or to dig ourselves out a hole he has the quality to do it, but for me didnt show that too often last year.
