that's all true but we're not just competing against the other spl sides, it's championship and league one sides that are taking our players off us. if every spl club voluntarily cut their income you'd just see even more players heading south. it's also not a suprise that other clubs aren't as receptive to new ideas as we might be as hearts, kilmarnock, aberdeen, dundee united and the old firm all owe millions of pounds to banks.

our wages haven't really rocketed though, they've dropped massively over the past ten years. the money thing is simple, the club should spend a bit less than it makes every year.

all this stuff about scottish football being on it's knees is frankly a load of pish. scotland has the highest football attendance per capita of anywhere in europe. in terms of population we're about the 28th most populous country in europe but 14th in league co-efficient. scotland (a country of under 5 million people) has a higher top league average attendance higher than Russia (150 million), ukraine (45 million) switzerland (7 million people), sweden (10 million), portugal (11 million), and poland (37 million) and austria (8 million). the first division here has a higher average attendance than the top leagues of ireland and croatia.

he looked excellent against accies, kilmarnock and hearts. he was decent against st johnstone but was very lucky not to lose us the game with a slip. however he had a nightmare at ibrox and sold goals in the two games at love street. that's seven domestic games 4 good/3 bad, he looks like he has loads of potential but i think some people are getting carried away. for me the performances saunders put in at pittodrie, tannadice, celtic park and against rangers at fir park were better than any of hutchisons. i fully expect them both to push on and improve this year though but neither of them are guaranteed games. i agree with malky about overhyping players. someone had hutchison in their team of the decade last week after less than a dozen appearances, a year ago there was a thread where a lot of people seemed to think forbes was destined for the epl. i think we need to lower expectations and give the boys time to develop, murphy made his debut over three years ago and i still don't think we've seen him anywhere near his best yet, it's great that we're focussing on youth so much but we need patience.
  9. Posting live from Iceland main street. This lack of darkness is ruining my body clock roxy music x
  10. probably because most people on here have been in a scrap or two themselves and it would be a bit hypocritical to be too bothered. quinn cracked the guy once outside the sub club (and didn't break his jaw), it just happened to be a belter of a punch. i'm not bothered about slane, the club can and will ditch any player who isn't good enough or is injured, sometimes it works the other way. no way would i have him on loan.
  11. it's hard to critisce him. he's done well for himself to end up with probably a couple of million in the bank, married to an ex miss scotland, two scottish league titles, a scottish cup medal, scored in the champions league, played at the nou camp, played in scotland's win over france in paris, scored in the play off final and played in the premiership. no bad for a guy who a lot of people (including myself) didn't rate very highly when he was here. the same could be said for lee mcculloch. not many people would have predicted either of their CV's when they were playing for us.
  12. flights sorted the icelandic bird asked if i was coming over for the football, the well are obviously big news over there.
  13. can't even think about the game just now. iceland express cancelled my flight home on the saturday night so i'll have to get on the phone to them first thing tomorrow and find out what the script is. hopefully it'll all get sorted and i'll be relaxed and having a pint in prestwick at half one tomorrow. the main thing is getting to the game, i'll worry about getting home after it
  14. i'll not be going anyway, i was looking in to it but i don't get back from iceland til sunday so probably best just to give it a miss. watching some youtube videos they look a decent side. i think pa broon might have to cook up a plan to deal with the big centre forward, maybe bring in saunders or hutchy to man mark him.

    South Stand

i sat on a bucket seat with a big rusty screw hanging out in bucharest last season. is this one of those mfc answers along the lines of "the police won't let fans share the main stand, oh wait they do"?

    South Stand

what was the deal with the main stand last night? have the planks of wood and bits of plastic been put out to pasture?
  17. we played poorly but could have scored five. forbes and humphrey were terrible, if we have to rely on them week in week out throughout the season we'll be struggling. anyone know why mchugh didn't feature?
  18. if hateley is fit enough he should be starting. forbes and humphrey were both poor on saturday and having both of them playing out wide could kill any creativity we might have. i'd go for the same shape as our 2-0 win at tynecastle. randoloph saunders craigan reynolds hammell hateley jennings lasley mchugh sutton murphy
  19. i think we should look for some more along the lines of michel plaitini or johann cruyff. perhaps even maradonna or pele.
  20. not really it just sounds as if they're waiting until they physically have the tickets before they start dealing with it. they said last week we were getting 300, club flight first then first come first served. i doubt we will take that many anyway.
  21. i'd quite happily pick my ticket up in iceland but the club say they need names and passport numbers of who's travelling. however they don't seem interested in taking these details until they actually get the tickets in from the icelanders.
  22. was it a chapman pie you had to pour the grease out of before you ate it years ago? i'm not really one for scranning in grounds but burn broomfield bought me a bridie at st mirren last season and it was pretty good.
  23. less than a fortnight til we fly out and still no word about tickets except watch the website. not very organised.
  24. i think this might be the first time i've ever agreed with daz. sutton's workrate was immense in the second half of last season but he benefited from having the juke playing as the target man. the home game against falkirk when lukas was out and sutton played right up top he was dire. it's a strange one but even although he's big and slow i think his best position is off someone else, not sure he's able to lead the line.
  25. owning shares would a nice thing to do but i'm sure anyone who really wanted to go to the agm could go and anyone who wants to see the accounts only has to pay £1. i hope stirling albion fan style fan ownership never becomes an option for us.
