  1. A point would probably be a good point. A loss is not a disaster, but could begin to eat into our confidence. Early days with regard to the season, so no point calling anything " must win" just yet.
  2. Hopefully Trev isn't too badly injured. As for the game itself, in forty odd years of following the 'well, I am struggling to remember when we ever got an even break against Hearts. I would love it if someone other than the ugly sisters were to win the league, but just not them. Levein is a tosser of the highest order so the play acting and time wasting is scarcely a surprise. I never want us to go down that route in terms of attitude and performance. Who do we play next?
  3. Since 1980 they have failed to qualify for two world cups. They have qualified for eight finals in that period and only failed to get out of their group once. They have gone on to finish fourth in 1986 and third in 2018. If they consider that the footballing wilderness then Goid alone knows what they would make of Scotland's performances over the same period.
  4. Would be surprised and disappointed if we didn't.
  5. Two one to us at the end, so we make the third round. Well done to all involved. Good to have some football during the international break.
  6. Good to hear. Let's hope that a fair number of them can make the step up and go on to have worthwhile senior careers. It would be the final sign that we, as a club, are doing something right. I am generally pretty impressed with what Craigan and Co. have achieved over the past couple of seasons. A few more showing that they can perform at first team level would be icing on the cake.
  7. Good result, and just what we needed. Hopefully we can keep this run going, though I think we have Hearts next, so not easy.
  8. Extended working holiday? Croatia is very nice.
  9. The media are what they are, and they know what side their bread is buttered on. I have it on good authority that Bob Crampsay's career as a commentator in the late 1960s suffered because he had the gall to speak his mind. Wanting a fair crack off them is as pointless as wanting a level playing field with referees. It ain't going to happen. As for this game, a much improved showing and any game where you get an injury time equaliser is a point won and acceptable. We now have to follow it up with a performance and result in our next match.
  10. Hopefully we give it a real go today. We have nothing to lose and need to somehow kick start our season and at home against them is as good a chance as any. Get in their faces and let them know that they are not going to have things their own way and who knows what we might achieve? Realistically, if they were a team of world beaters, then they wouldn’t be at Ibrox. Poor as we have been, there is no reason why we cannot get a result.
  11. Yeah, this, every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  12. Craig Thomson is refereeing, so no different from before he made his comments.
  13. Rangers are not world beaters. We need to concentrate on our game and what works for us. If it becomes as bit of a scrap, and we get a fair hearing from the officials in that regard, then we can take something from it. As for Hartley's comments. Inappropriate and misjudged. He will learn from it, hopefully. However, we need a captain who will lead and not take a backward step, so I am not too bothered if he isn't quite ready to join the diplomatic corps.
  14. A two nil victory over Hearts? We’d take that most days. Good result for whatever the team is called.
  15. Time for the manager to remind the press of his red card statistics from last season.
  16. Could make things more difficult for us, if they can bring in someone who can make a difference. Feel a bit sorry for Miller. Without knowing any of the circumstances beyond results, he has scarcely been given a chance. However, if the board feel that his appointment has been a serious mistake, then they need to act quckly and decisively. Of course, being the people who made the appointment, maybe they should also consider their own positions at the club?
  17. A win is a win. I think we budget for reaching the quarters of both cups, so that is a goal achieved. Also good to beat a side who may turn out to be at the squeaky bum end of the league table, along with us, if only for a boost in our confidence. Unfortunate that the schedule of fixtures means that we are not likely to be able to continue our winning streak. Just got to hope that the performances can continue on an upward track.
  18. Fisher looked like a decent signing, but, for us, he couldn't hit a cow on the arse with a banjo. Glad things are now working out for the lad, but for whatever reasons, he was never any good for us.
  19. Nice to have a win though. Even if it will be difficult to give too many of the young guys a chance if the first team continues to struggle. Much easier to blood youngsters in a side that has some confidence.
  20. Why does the phrase " it could be worse" always remind me of Marty Feldman?
  21. I certainly wonder where our goals are going to come from. Bowman tries, but has never really been a regular scorer, Main looks like his goals have dried up, hopefully not terminally, and Sammon has not turned a corner with us, so doesn't look like the answer. Puts a lot of pressure on Johnson coming good, or let's see who we can get in?
  22. Robinson deserves at least a little time to try and sort things out. The success of last season surely buys him that? Let's see where we are after the first round of fixtures. Anyone coming in will have to work with what we have, so changing before the end of the transfer window " to give the new manager a chance of building their own squad" is not an option. We have no cash and who is going to take our cast offs? The uncomfortable truth is that the two players who made our squad a little bit better than the rest, Moult and Kipre, have left, and, not surprisingly, they have been difficult to replace. Throw in a few injuries, Dunne, Bowman, Hartley, Tanner, and we are down amongst the dregs of the division, already fighting for survival.
  23. Sounds like it was predictably pish. Our squad is not without talent, but we really need to find a system and style of play that can get the best out of them. Sadly, as Hartley's performances prove, I don't think we can rely on the returning Dunne and Tanner to help us turn the corner. Players returning from long term injury need time and patience and we may very well be short on both of these by the time they are ready to return. The senior professionals need to stand up and face the challenge. Carson, Tait, Aldred, Hartley and McHugh have plenty of experience. It needs to kick in soon or we will find ourselves in a serious hole.
  24. Looks like a draw to me, unless Accies are as awful as I hope they are. Any real confidence I currently have is based on the sincere hope that Accies, Livi, St Midden and the ‘Dee are more shite than we appear to be.
