  1. There is no denying it is a great save. Greatest ever thoughis pure hyperbole. Still, that’s the English for you.
  2. The longer we can keep the run going, the better. We have had a rest and should be seriouslyup for this. A game we can win. Do so and we keep the feel good factor going for another few games. In terms of selection and tactics, same again please. We have found a way that works for us and see no reason to muck about with it for this fixture.
  3. Cheers. Living out of the country for a few years makes it difficult to keep an eye on the bigger picture with regard to Scottish football, though one of the sports channels now shows an SPFL highlights show and the odd live game. You can get wall to wall EPL but it is not really my cup of tea.
  4. Agreed. If his contract was up this year, you wonder if he would be getting a new deal. Unfortunately he has not looked the same player post injury.
  5. I think that the picture regarding next year’s squad is becoming clearer, but that it does depend as much upon what the out of contract players wish to do, as what he club wants to do. It seems pretty obvious that ATS and Newell are going. I would offer new deals to Gorrin, Grimshaw, Main, McHugh and Cadden., on the assumption that not all of them will take up the offer. The players on loan are a different situation. I would love to see us sign up Aldred andthink that we have seen enough in Ariyibi to at least try and get an extension to his loan period. If we manage that, then we may not need Frear. McCormack would need to get fit and prove himself this season before Iwould consider extending his stay and, while not a hater, Sammon will surely be gone as soon as the loan period is up. The Tanner situation is all dependent on his recovery but, if he passes the necessary physical tests, I would be pleased to see him offered a new deal, both on the grounds that we know he has potential and the moral standpoint of helping an injured employee get back into the game. I forgot about Mbulu. I would say he has potential so, as long as he is happy to be patient and learn his trade, he is worth another deal.
  6. My Dad told me Johnny Aitkenhead took the p*ss out of Corky Young at Ibrox in this manner in the early 1950s. Different game then, only posting to prove to my Dad that I was listening.
  7. Seems an odd place to be strengening unless others are moving on. Is he any good?
  8. Anything is possible if we an keep our run going. We have a small break now to regroup and try not to get too far ahead of ourselves. Eight games until the split, so one game at a time and see what we can achieve.
  9. We have a series of tougher fixtures coming up, soI would suggest that any talk of sixth place is premature if not fanciful. Having said that, we are now surely safe and can hopefully pick up enough points to finish well away from trouble. I also think that we can see that the decision not to take a knee jerk reaction and change manager mid season has even vindicated. Am I right in saying that all the teams now below us have all ditched their managers this season?
  10. Great result. Good character showing to come back and score the winner so quickly after their equaliser.
  11. Important fixture ( aren’t they all?) and we need to keep our feet on the ground and get a result. Our good run has been against sides around us or below us in the league. This is tha last of these before we start a run against sides higher up the ladder. If we can keep building the momentum of the past few games, who knows what we may achieve? The wheels will come off at some stage, but hopefully not in this fixture.
  12. If both fit and well, probably Carson. A decision will have to be made in the summer though, as I doubt either will be happy to play second fiddle for too long. Will we be able to secure a nice fee for either? Not the worst problem to have though.
  13. Let’s hope so. Never keen to start counting chickens though. Have been a ‘well fan for too long not to realise that the next crisis is only aouple of dodgy results away.
  14. Great result. Things seem to be moving in the right direction.
  15. Let us just concentrate on things we have ontrol of. We have a limited squad with limited talent which is not going to be helped by such distractions as “ topsix” and “other results going our way”. Recent results may have seen us move towards safety, but performance remains inconsistent and sketchy so small steps should be the order of the day. As for this fixture, much as I would love another three points, I’d take a point and that is whatI reckon we will get. 1 all, with our goal being an OG.
  16. Wikipedia ( I know, not always the most reliable source) has Craig Tanner signing a row year deal in 2017. That would suggest that his contract will be up this summer. He is only 24 so, if his body is capable of a sufficient recovery, he has plenty of time to rebuild his career. When healthy,he certainly looked to have enough about him to be worth a place in a squad at our level. All a question of whether he can get and stay fit enough to do so. Good luck to the lad.
  17. I hope you are right regarding the fee. In many ways Bigi was a luxury we just couldn’t afford. Shame, as I couldn’t help but like him. You have tithing that his shortcomings will be just as obvious for Hibs as they were for us
  18. Is it the case that loan deals can still be agreed for a few days after the window closes?
  19. If Hartley does go to Hibs, I would imagine we would have to seriously look at trying to get Aldred to sign a permanent deal in the summer. Beyond that, would it fre up enough cash to allow us to strengthen our squad elsewhere with a quality player onloan? Probably getting a bit late in the day for that.
  20. Please don’t mock the Gods. They do not like it.
  21. With a bit of luck the Turnbull signing could turn out to be tremendous business for all concerned. Think that will be it for us in this window, unless we can get some guys off the books in the next day or so. We should have enough to keep us in the top league for another season and start a more serious restructure of the squad in the summer.
  22. Just the sort of run that pretty much always ends against us.
  23. Without ever getting too ahead of ourselves, a big game. At home, against a close rival from our end of the league table. If we are to doa ythingbeyond survive this season, then winning this could be crucial. No pressure then.
