    John Ruddy

A bit unfair- that was just shit refereeing- how many other keepers got called for "steps" in the time that that law was in force? Next you will be blaming big Stewart for he penalty he conceded in the semi final the following season.
  2. Pretty sure that was my first match- watched it from the main stand with my Dad. Pretty dire stuff, even for a six year old.First away game was a 1-0 defeat at Bayview a couple of weeks later. Can't remember my first win.

    Phil's Legacy

Maybe the personal messages on the shirts will encourage the kids to find out a litle bit more about Phil and where he came from? Cannot think of a better role model and the creation of a link between them and our club and one of its greatest sons can be no bad thing. Even from beyond the grave, there remains something pure class about Phil O'Donnell.
  4. While not approving of the nature and content of some of these alleged chants, lets not get too wound up by reports of disgust from the media until we see what they make of the next old firm game.
  5. Unfortunatelyv it is the age we live in- I'd personally much prefer "witty" rather than " offensive" chants from our support- we are generally better than that. As an aside, there is absolutely nothing funny about paedophillia and as such those chants were unacceptable- an unreserved apology from the club should be forthcoming.
  6. Just so long as the players do not get distracted by all this-the most important thing is the win and the three points, anything else is a bonus.

    Canterbury

Speaking as someone who would have preferred a white away kit with a claret and amber band- there is a great picture of St John wearing one like that from the early 1960s- I have to say that new away shirt looks the absolute dogs, smart as hell and I just have to get myself one.
  8. He is under contract, so a fee would be required. Dundee can come back with 200k or shut up.

    Paul Mcgrillen

If uefa decree that we cannot show ourrespectand appreciation for the recently departed then so be it- it is their show (though shame on them for being so petty). The home fixture against Killie would seem the obvious place to show our respects properly- our place, our rules- the correct place for us to mark the untimely passing of one of our own.
  10. To be fair to accies, and I am not really sure why I should be, they had to bid low for these players, just to make sure they got the kb. They don't really want to splash the cash but they need to look willing to keep their fan happy.
  11. Shame it will probably be Bucharest ifwe do go through-I'd love to go back to Budapest, lovely city.
  12. Three Latchford brothers, Peter played in goal for Celtic, Dave played in goal for us and Bob, as you say, played for Everton up front. Sorry for any confusion, but it was thirty odd years ago.
  13. Does anyone else remember Mike Larnach? And how about Bob Latchford or Ally Hunter for worst keeper?
  14. Roger Hynd convinced our average squad that theywere world beaters, and theywere believing it until those h*n bastards came onto the park at two nil to nus withtwenty minutes played. Our bottle went and we lost five three. Queens Park put us out of the cup the following midweek. Never forgave those bastards for that-scum then and scum now. Kampma'ns team was probably the worst I've seen- not all his fault though-McLeish left a hell of a mess.
  15. Sutton up front on his own is a nightmare. I'd be tempted to play 4-4-2 with either Smith or Murphy partnering Sutton. Goalkeeper is open to debate-I don't rate Fraser so would be prepared to give the youngster a go. Defence picks itself at the moment. Midfield, Lasley and Forbes for the holding role in the centre, Slane and O'Brien to provide the width and creativity to break down the Taffs. Murphy is another option if we don't start him up front.
  16. I simply do not believe that-these were decent professionals who generally did a good job for us. With a very limited budget we will get dross.
  17. He has inherited a mess, and I reckon the plan to get us out of it is decidedly dodgy. Alienating one of our few decent players, perhaps in a misguided attempt to show that he is the boss, is not a good way to start- makes him look a bit of a wank.
  18. If they are any good, we wouldn't be able to afford their wages. Last season's pre season friendlies showed where we were- stuffed Bradford, drew with championship sides. But no, you are right, the guys he will bring in will be world-beaters. I take it all back.
  19. Looks like he has no time for the senior players left at the club-though I doubt he will get much for them if he did try and flog the lot. Starting from scratch with a bunch of kids and some makeweight duds from the lower leagues in England is a recipe for disaster though-reckon he will be gone by Christmas and the drop beckons for us.
  20. If the money being mentioned is correct then it does look like we sold Clarkson on the cheap. Still, with this sort of money comingin you have to hope that some sort of budget for new players will be forthcoming. Lets hope that Gannon doesn't blow it all on duds from the lower leagues in England.
  21. Hope they fail dismally at Aberdeen- there is no room for sentiment in business.
  22. Agreed, the club should ban him from the ground-if they come up with the usual pish about this short changing the fans and their "right to know" just point themin the direction of the latest "exclusive" regarding our links with Jobby McCall.
  23. Do you think Kevin Keegan might do it- just for a laugh?
  24. Has anyone mentioned Stewart Baxter yet?
  25. Would take Brown over Fraser any day of the week. I felt he was harshly treated by Eric Black and remember that Butcher was his assistant so a move back to ICT might not be likely. Woods was kept on during administration because he was the cheap option-nice guy but a poor poor keeper-we would have been much smarter keeping Brown but his face just didn't seem to fit. It would be great to see him back for us.
