Skippy clearly not too happy with the hierarchy: McDonald: Why I want A-League move Ben Somerford May 26 2017 1:15AM The 33-year-old striker, who failed to net in 26 caps for the Socceroos, opted against triggering a contract extension with Scottish Premier League club Motherwell earlier this week. McDonald is currently holidaying in Spain with his English wife and three children and will weigh up his options over the next few weeks, but hasnt ruled out remaining in the United Kingdom or even trying his luck in Asia. However, the Melbourne-born striker appears most keen on the A-League, saying an Australian switch will get the juices flowing. Ive been away for so long, a lot of people havent seen the best in me, McDonald told FourFourTwo. Everyone will always go over my international career. Its always great to represent your country, albeit not going as well as I wouldve liked, but Ive developed a hell of a lot. In terms of coming home, thatd certainly be something thatd get the juices flowing. Showing people exactly what I can do. I dont need to necessarily prove myself, but Id like to show people what Im about. McDonald (right) alongside Lucas Neill, Mark Schwarzer & Tim Cahill McDonald, who hasn't played for Australia since 2012, insisted he still has plenty to offer at club level, having netted 25 goals in the past two seasons for Motherwell. He said after two-and-a-half years with Motherwell, in his second spell with the Steelmen, he wanted a fresh challenge and the opportunity to achieve things. When you get older you dont want to become stale and settle, McDonald said. Im still wanting to achieve things personally and possibly pursuing going to the A-League would give me that as well. Ive plenty to offer. Ive got plenty of years to go. Im 33 now but I think as you get older you develop and you understand your body. You look after it. I definitely think if youre coming back home, the amount of games that are played, the way the staff look after you over there, the full-time professionalism, theres plenty of years left in my legs. McDonald at Motherwell last season McDonald came close to returning to the A-League in January with both Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets making a play for him. The former Celtic man held advanced talks with Wanderers coach Tony Popovic and the deal was all but agreed, until Motherwell scuppered it by demanding a transfer fee. McDonald admitted the Scottish clubs position had left a sour taste in his mouth for the past four months, leading to his exit. Theres been opportunities to come and Motherwell disappointingly turned down the last one, he said. It was a bit of a sore one, everything was set and agreed and Motherwell pretty much put the blockers on it. Ive got to be honest, probably for the last four or five months of the season it had a little effect on me, in terms of where I was at. It made my decision clearer on what I wanted to do. Whether its in Australia or not, my time at Motherwell is up now and Im keen to try something different. McDonald hasnt played domestically in Australia since his time with Gippsland Falcons before leaving for Southampton as a 16-year-old. Hes visited and holidayed in Australia on numerous occasions but admitted settling down with his family in his homeland was attractive. Ive lived all my adult life in the UK, he said. I left as a 16-year-old. Ive got a young family myself now, so I would like to give back to them in terms of that lifestyle. But its just going to have to be whats right for me on a footballing level and also for the family as well. McDonald memorably scored for Celtic against AC Milan in the 2007-08 UEFA Champions League

Remember we need two keepers, so one will be the back up.

He had a clause in his contract that entitled him to a years extension if he wanted it provided he scored more than 12 goals, which he duly did whilst out on loan at Ayr Utd the season before last (14 I think). Sounds bonkers, but apparently true.

I agree that he has looked pretty decent the last few weeks as he has picked up a fair few goals, but his overall goal record isn't great if you look back over his career. Nevertheless, definitely looks more useful than Bowman/Blyth. If I hadn't looked at his career stats, I'd definitely have thought he was worth a punt.

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/04/13/trio-tracking-wokings-18-goal-hit-man-gozie-ugwu/ HITC Sport understands several clubs are chasing non-league hot-shot Gozie Ugwu, including Motherwell, Patrick Thistle and Walsall. A number of English and Scottish sides are lining up moves for Woking striker Gozie Ugwu, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Ugwu has been a revelation for Woking since joining the club last summer, scoring 18 goals and creating a further six assists in all competitions so far this season. Ugwu, who came through Reading's youth system, has played for Dunfermline, Yeovil Town and Wycombe before pitching up at Woking and his fine form saw him earn the Vanarama National League Player of the month award in November. The 23-year-old is out of contract at Woking this summer after signing a one-year deal upon his arrival at Kingfield and a number of his suitors are hoping to lure him away on a free transfer. Scottish Premier League duo Motherwell and Partick Thistle along with League One outfit Walsall, are among clubs known to have sent scouts to watch the highly-rated Ugwu this season and he is thought to have impressed them. Having previously scored goals in League One and League Two, it is understood that Woking are now resigned to losing their top goal scorer and will hope he can surpass the 20-goal barrier to help them stay in the National League.

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/04/03/chase-on-for-stockport-star-lloyd/ A number of Football League and Scottish sides are tracking Stockport County star Danny Lloyd, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Left-sided winger Lloyd has enjoyed a stunning season to date for Stockport in the National League North, scoring 26 goals and laying on another 19 assists for the Hatters to make him one of the most in-demand players on the non-league scene. The 25-year-old joined Stockport from National League North rivals AFC Fylde last summer where he scored 61 goals in three seasons. Lloyd's performances for Stockport have not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid with scouts from clubs flocking to Edgeley Park to cast an eye over the free-scoring attacker who was named as National League North Player of the Month for March after a stellar few weeks last month. League One trio Walsall, Peterborough and Shrewsbury have been keeping tabs on Lloyd, while League Two promotion hopefuls Portsmouth and Plymouth Argyle are also keen admirers of the former Lincoln City man. Scottish pair Motherwell and Hibernian are also tracking Lloyd and they see him as someone who could prove to be a bargain addition to their squads for next season. Lloyd is out of contract at Stockport this summer and the club will face a major battle to keep hold of the Liverpool-born winger as interest continues to mount in the player.

Vala-car-i.........I'll get my coat!

Pretty sure part of the deal to sell him involved a sell on clause.

Looks like we could be set for a second MJ windfall.

Wolves and Birmingham have been joined by Stoke City in the race for Oxford United winger Marvin Johnson, according to the Sun (Sunday 5th March, page 65). The 26-year-old has been hugely impressive for the Us this term since making a move from Motherwell in the summer, and this form has attracted interest from the Championship, and now seemingly, the Premier League. Johnson has spent most of his career plying his trade in the lower regions of the non-league game in England, but burst onto the scene last term with some impressive displays for Motherwell. Oxford have taken to life in League One pretty well, and currently sit comfortably in the table well clear of any relegation threat. Johnson has proved to be a crucial member of the side, and the loss of the exciting left sided player could be huge for the club. The Us though will no doubt be seeking a decent fee for the winger, and Stoke or the host of Championship clubs wanting his signature will no doubt have to stump up the cash to capture their man.

Look at the difference between Scot Bain's save from Clay in the 2nd half vs Samson's attempt at saving Mark O'Hara's goal or Haber's first. Yes we have problems all over the pitch, but none bigger than those caused by Samson. Maybe if he instilled more confidence the defence would settle down a bit more; instead they always look like they are on tender hooks. -

Samson's positioning for a couple of the goals is very suspect. He leaves a huge portion of the goal for Haber and Co to aim for. He wasn't the worst, but a half decent keeper would have stopped at least 2 of the goals if not more. He is a total imposter and always has been. He played in the same youth team as one of my mates and he has always maintained that Samson must have some agent to keep getting top flight clubs. -
Premiership Form Pts Last 6 Celtic 18 Aberdeen 15 Dundee 11 Killie 9 St.J 9 Thistle 8 Hearts 7 ICT 6 Accies 5 Ross C 4 Rangers 4 M'Well 3 Relegation form if ever I seen it, especially when you see a number of the teams around us significantly above us. He has been for most of his career. It was Derek Adams who converted him to a midfielder as he is bit on the small side for a centre half. -

After about 10 minutes today it was obvious that the young defence wasn't working and that the change was McHugh to centre half with either Jules or Chalmers getting hooked, with a midfielder coming on. It took shovel face 60 minutes to make that change. A blind man could see if. Simply not good enough. McGhee continuously picks the wrong team/formation and has to go. He's not good enough!
