  1. The other recent Salford signing that we missed out on was Rory Gaffney who played for Bristol Rovers.
  2. Motherwell reject Ryan Bowman bid from Grimsby Town The striker has a year left on his contract at Fir Park and Motherwell have warned potential bidders nobody will be sold on the cheap. Motherwell last night booted out a bid from Grimsby Town for targetman Ryan Bowman. Record Sport understands the Fir Park club had no hesitation in knocking back the five figure approach from the League Two outfit as it was way below their valuation. Geordie hitman Bowman is under contract with the Steelmen until next summer after penning a one-year extension in April. The 26-year-old - who was snapped up on a free transfer from Gateshead in August 2016 - is viewed as a key man by boss Stephen Robinson. And Motherwell have told any potential bidders no one in the squad will be allowed to go on the cheap. Well have already bounced a £250,000 bid for Cedric Kipre from Hull City in to touch, with a £1m price tag placed on the Ivory Coast centre back. Bowman won’t command a seven figure fee but is rated at way beyond the numbers on offer from Grimsby. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/motherwell-reject-ryan-bowman-bid-12927272
  3. Probably nonsense, but according to this dubious website, The Rangers want Cadden: https://www.kickoff.co.uk/86622/rangers-set-for-huge-signing-from-premiership-rivals/ RANGERS SET FOR HUGE SIGNING FROM PREMIERSHIP RIVALS It has already been an incredibly hectic summer for Rangers, with comings and goings galore. New boss Steven Gerrard is rebuilding his squad to compete once more and, if reports are to be believed, he’s far from done. The draw of the new project underway at Ibrox is sizeable and, as such, players from around the Scottish Premiership are looking towards the capital hoping for a move. For one man from Motherwell that could soon become a reality. Midfielder Chris Cadden has been linked with a move away from Fir Park for some time now after a number of excellent campaigns, and it now appears that Gerrard sees him as one of the finishing pieces to his puzzle. As a fully capped Scottish international Cadden’s pedigree is clear. What some may wonder, however, is just how much influence he’s able to have on his side domestically. The 21-year-old only played in 17 of Motherwell’s 38 top-flight matches last season, but the positive influence he had on those around him is clear for all to see. As his side endured relative struggles and finished in the bottom half of the table, Cadden’s presence was an all too rare shining light. Average goals scored per game increased by 40% with him in the side, average goals conceded dropped by a third and, most importantly, matches were won 47% of the time compared to just 24% without. Still a young man, Cadden’s is a talent that must be nurtured. In Gerrard, he would have a manager who has played in his position at the highest level, and who would undoubtedly be able to impart invaluable wisdom that would help him during his future career. A move to Rangers would be a magnificent step for Cadden, and he has the quality to contribute to the side right away too. If a fee can be agreed upon that suits Motherwell’s needs, this could be a deal that truly benefits all parties.
  4. So nobody heard any whispers about SR’s targets yet? He said in a recent interview that something might get done before the end of this week.
  5. There’s no doubt Dunney had a slow start, but your right, he didn’t half come good after a few months.
  6. How did Donnelly look yesterday. Think he could be a good signing.
  7. Looks like Tony Watt is signing for St Johnstone.
  8. Some ball in by Alex Rodriquez for Main’s header off the bar.
  9. I think Bigi will move on and we will sell one of either Campbell or Cadden, which will ease the congestion.
  10. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.......stature has two meanings, so it doesn’t need to mean BIG. It can mean stature in the game of football i.e. highly regarded.
  11. Mind you, I seem to remember SR referring to Andy Rose as an attacking player when we signed him!
  12. I also don’t see how he could be described as creative........he’s a defensive midfielder!?!
  13. That certainly would be underwhelming, however so was Michael Higdon and he went on to smash it.
  14. I was shot down earlier, but my first guess was Ali Crawford on the back of the newspaper rumour.
  15. He’s 6’1” so not exactly lacking in stature, but admittedly not a giant.
  16. It’s just a left field guess, but I wonder if the creative midfielder we are signing is Charlie Carter from Woking in the National League. Young, two footed, goal scoring midfielder.
  17. Fair enough, your probably right, but Ali Crawford on form is very good at retaining the ball. I’ve not watched him closely enough to judge him on getting about the Park. As I said, I fully expect a 6 foot plus player to come in, and as you say, be a box to box or quarterback type player. Makes you wonder how SR is going to fit all his midfielders in. It definitely suggests that one or two may be shipped out. The big question is, will Carl McHugh keep getting picked regardless of form.
  18. ‘Stature’ has two meanings: 1. A person’snatural height. 2. Importance or reputation gained by ability or achievement. Knowing SR, it probably means the former, however I’d say Ali Crawford could fit into the latter.
  19. This article suggests we paid a fee for Donnelly. https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/football/hartlepool-united/liam-donnelly-knocks-back-pools-contract-to-seal-scottish-premiership-deal-1-9197418 Liam Donnelly knocks back Pools contract to seal Scottish Premiership deal Hartlepool United defender Liam Donnelly has signed a deal with Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell. The Northern Ireland under-21 skipper knocked back the chance to extend his Pools stay and instead opted to head north of the border to join former Victoria Park teammate Trevor Carson at Fir Park. Despite Donnelly's deal coming to end this month, Pools still receive a development fee for the player, who was signed by current director of football Craig Hignett from Premier League side Fulham in August 2016. In a statement released to the club website, the fee changing hands was described as "undisclosed", although Pools are thought to have banked a significant fee due to the player's development during his time at the Vic, especially on the international stage, and down to the number of first team games played by the defender. The statement reads: "Liam Donnelly has this afternoon completed a move to Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell for an undisclosed fee. "The Northern Ireland Under-21 international travelled to Scotland on Wednesday to undergo a medical and now all terms have been agreed to confirm his switch to Fir Park.
  20. Totally agree, but I always thought he was a Well fan, which made him even more special. Was just surprised to hear he wasn’t as he has been with us since he was 9 I think.
  21. I was sad to find out that wee Alan isn’t actually a Motherwell fan........so says a mum of one of our U20 players.
  22. I think you will find it is McHugh that thinks he’s a midfielder and prefers it to centre back; which is the reason why I think we’d be best placed to cut our loses with him and replace him with a genuine defensive midfielder.
  23. Yeah, he signed a two year deal....... http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2017/06/02/bigirimana-is-signing-number-two/
  24. Scrap that, it was only 1 year: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2017/07/24/well-add-young-striker-newell/
