  1. I see Salford and Gillingham are trying to sign Jack Payne who is an attacking midfielder on a free transfer. He’s a good player, plays like a number 10, but can play left wing too. Wonder if we will be interested too.
  2. I’ve actually liked the look of Jake Caroll in both games so far. Seems composed on the ball and likes to get forward.
  3. Another concern I have with Shankland is that he carries a bit of weight and isn’t the quickest. I have a suspicion that he won’t be as effective when stepping up a league. Might be why he hasn’t found a club down south yet.
  4. The one issue for me with Shankland is that I don’t think the lone striker role would suit him. I see him as an upgrade on a striker like Danny Johnson i.e. a penalty box poacher.
  5. Chuks Aneke at MK Dons was the other one mentioned who Hearts/Hibs were interested in, who is out of contract this summer. Having watched some clips of him, he would be a great option for us if we could afford him, but again I think wages would be an issue.
  6. Dorrans is a permacrock, which we can ill afford. We need someone who can handle 35-40 games a season. Would be happy with Lafferty and Shankland. Can see the former happening due to the N.Ireland links, but just can’t see Shankland happening. He will have better options than us.
  7. If possible I would have quite liked us to sign Christian Doidge of Forrest Green Rovers, who is a tall Striker, but I see this morning that he is being linked with a £250k move to Hibs. Wages would probably be an issue too.
  8. The strikers we sign, coupled with Scott will be important and so will the wingers (some we are still to sign) will be vital to plugging the hole left by DT’s goals.
  9. I think a combination of Long, Semple and Polworth will fill the AMC role behind the striker.
  10. I can’t see us being able to insert a sell on clause as he is out of contract. Technically we aren’t selling, we are getting training compensation.
  11. Eh, cause you can play them in 40-50 odd other games!
  12. As suggested earlier, I’m pretty sure we have ‘dealt’ at a pre-agreed release clause figure that would have been part of his most recent contract renewal. Why do fans always have to see the negative in everything. We are £3M to good, which is huge for a club like us. Yeah it’s a shame we won’t get to watch him pull on claret and amber again, but we can be very proud that he was a product of our youth system as he goes on to hopefully have a glorious career in football.
  13. Flow has suggested that ‘all going well’ another forward will sign this week.
  14. Is that not Hylton? From the clips i’ve seen of him, he is fast, tricky and has a goal in him.......does that make him mercurial?
  15. He signed for Blackpool yesterday.
  16. He was still contracted to Oldham, so they must have given him their blessing for him to train with us instead of them. I’d therefore question why we would have him train with us if we weren’t keen to sign him. He has been out of action for the best part of a year following a bad leg break.
  17. I suspect it it to give him better terms as a valuable first team player rather than to extend his contract, but a bit of both would be good. In terms of protecting us for his development fee, I have a feeling we won’t be extending it.
  18. Ousmane Fané is the Defensive Midfielder.
  19. Gallagher isn’t left sided. He is two footed but generally plays as a right centreback in a 4.
  20. Dundee defender Darren O’Dea to become youth coach at Motherwell by Reporter © SNS Darren O'Dea. Dundee central defender Darren O’Dea is set to become the new coach of Motherwell’s under-18s. The retiring former Dark Blues’ captain announced recently that he would be hanging up his boots come the end of the season to pursue a career in coaching. The 32-year-old ex-Celtic star is preparing to join the Fir Park club in a bid to bring on their next crop of stars. The Steelemen have produced rising stars such as Jake Hastie, David Tunrbull and Chris Cadden in recent years and hope to build a future golden generation. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-fc/890982/dundee-defender-darren-odea-to-become-youth-coach-at-motherwell/
  21. To be fair, I thought the boy took a dive with minimal contact.
  22. I actually think he would suit our system now.
