  1. I'm currently sitting with a Jambos fan so I'll not say anything too bad about them but I reckon Kello is their biggest asset, and if he's not there, then its in the bag for the 'Well. Me and my Jam tart mate will be watching it together in the library tomorrow when we should be studying for our finals....

  2. I'd rather believe we can do it. I'll enjoy the game more that way. Also, I know that we can - not saying it will be easy, but I would never write of the 'Well that easily. As I've said before, we're not playing Barcelona or Real Madrid, its Celtic. There seems to be this preconception that the Old Firm are unbeatable, but they're not, as has been shown on various occasions.

It will be difficult, since Celtic will be considering the last time we beat them, and they won't want that to happen again, particularly when there's silverware attached, but there's just as much at stake for Motherwell, so I believe wholeheartedly that we can pull it out the bag, and get a lucky win. Our boys have it in them for sure.

  3. think the midfield were trying not to make any rash challenges that would put them out the final with daft bookings etc. Scottish refs being pish and all that. Also Lasley was carrying an injury that have might have played into it. The three goal cushion would have played it's part too. I'd fully expect more in the way of blood, snot and thunder from the mudfield come the final.

Yeah - yellow cards for every team member! Who cares, get stuck right intae them without worrying about suspensions. As long as no red cards come out (for us at least) then its sound. Been a lot of red carding happening in Scotland recently (most of it at Tannadice the other night I might add) so we still need to be a bit cautious. Three yellow cards (for Hutchy, Craigan and Lasley) would be a small price to pay for an injury to either one or all three of Commons, Hooper and Stokes!

  4. I'd say Celtic's greatest strength just now is their ability to move the ball quickly through midfield. Defensively, they're a bit suspect, but the solid midfield they've built with Ledley, Kayal and Brown allows their more creative players like Commons a bit more space and time, as well as allowing Wilson and Izzaguire to bomb forward. Humphrey and Murphy did a great job at pinning them back in the game at Fir Park. I assume Lennon will be working a way around that, so we've got to be on top of our game.

I think our greatest weakness at Hampden last weekend (even though we won spectacularly) was that St Johnstone were getting through to the final third every time they got the ball, and if it wasn't for our defense in that part of the park, the scoreline might have been different. For the final, I would be looking for more from the midfield - shutting down the likes of those you just mentioned in the centre of the park so they don't have that opportunity to make chances and get the ball forward to create problems for our defense. Commons is a danger which I hadn't considered

  5. Celtic's main strength: the most successful strike force in the league.

Motherwell's strengths: the best keeper in the SPL (Randy); a solid defence (big Shauny, Hammell etc); a winger who can outstrip any defender on a good day (Humphrey); and a pretty decent strike force (Murphy, Sutton)

Considering Celtic's golden boys (Hooper and Stokes) haven't been up to the same level they were at the same season, I think our defense can handle them alright, and if anything gets passed them, Darren Randolph has a pretty good chance of getting his hands to it.

If they can't score goals...they can't win, and we just need to keep an eye out up front for wee sneaky chances!

  6. My original thought was that 15000 tickets would be plenty, but I'm coming round to the idea that it's a final at a neutral venue, so if we can sell 50%, we should get 50%.

Incidentally, as it's a neutral venue, why is their a "Celtic end"? And will our buses have to take the ridiculous route they had to take for the semi? This rangers and Celtic end nonsense should only apply when they play each other!!

Also, if we get 50/50, with the option to return some, presumably we'd have to sell main stand and behind the goals 1st for segregation purposes? If I could pick my seat, I'd choose the north stand, but we wouldn't be allowed to sell that until we'd filled behind the goals.

I would want to sit where I sat on Saturday...that would be ideal, right at the half way line across from the tunnel (pretty much where I sit at Fir Park incidentally) but I would imagine because its a final, and because its Celtic we're playing, then won't have us that close to each other again.

  7. Celtic fans will do whatever they want to do, and we can probably assume there will be tricolours flying at Hampden. There's politics involved, but you can bet that a large majority of them don't know or understand it anyway. I'll not be sinking to their level, I'll be at Hampden, watching the game, in my '91 'Well top - I do love Scotland flags, and I have 8 of them on my bedroom wall, but if I'm honest, I can't be arsed taking any of them off my wall and bringing them to the game. Other people are free to do as they please though I suppose.

I'm just unbelievably excited about this game, and I think its harsh to assume its a foregone conclusion as some are suggesting. It will be a hard game, but we have beaten them before, and we can beat them again. People who follow the SPL seem to have this misconception that its impossible to turn over the Old Firm, and they are the untouchables of the league. Its not Barcelona we're playing! Anyone who goes to the game already thinking we're going to lose is wasting their time and money, and is basically saying that Motherwell FC aren't a good team. We are a good team, and there's no reason why we can't beat Celtic, and lift the cup again.

  8. Loved the game tonight lads. What a day - atmosphere was incredible! Only thing I would say about the 'Well was that St Johnstone got as far as the last third of the park before anyone shut them down. Midfield could have been stronger, balls should have been getting won at the half way line. Apart from that, Motherwell were great, and I've had too many cans. The End. See you all at the final!

  9. She wore a claret and Amber ribbon, claret and Amber ribbon in the merry month of may, and so I asked why she wore that ribbon and she said........

SHE SAID ITS FOR THE 'WELL AND WE'RE GONNAE WIN THE CUP!!!!

I usually struggle to wake up in the morning, but I was up before my alarm even went off today!

    'Mon the 'Well

  10. What does it say to Hateley who had his best game in a Motherwell shirt for a fair while last week, is contracted for another 2 years and has played in most games this season if he's dropped.

Aye, Hateley has to start surely. He's been in great form recently.
