  1. Would it making a reasonable point or just incredibly petty if we were to take the approach during the pre-match handshakes to shake hands as normal up until Sinclair, then immediately we felt contact from him, be duly entitled to go down? Not exactly subtle so maybe a job for a mascot rather than a player. Or bring in Louis van Gaal.
  2. Hi mateI'd be happy to take a couple. I don't do PayPal but happy to meet up pre or post game and pay cash. I'm sure I did that the last time. Thanks S
  3. Any links to the press statement? Maybe I'm thick, but I can't see it, although I'm using work machine which might not find everything

    Rangers Motm

The result obviously helps, as does the performances of Carson, Hartley etc al, but I thought Dunne played a significant role in the clean sheet. Had a knack of being in the right place to clear umpteen times, as the number of crosses from our right side rained in. His passing at times was ropey but defensively spot on. His challenge as last man was both very well timed and brave given he was going to take a clattering and also open to a possible red card. I don't think it was, but have seen them given (and would have been screaming for it!).Especially when he's been on the wrong end of 3 or 4 poor decisions in his short time here. As far as voting? As with so many games this season, too hard to pick just one.
  5. The celebrations when that went in... The belief hitting home that we had an away goal, and a great chance in the tie, instead of a 2-0 defeat and a huge mountain to climb. And we should have got through ☹️
  6. It's from Porridge. Also referenced is Googie Withers... within these walls Damn, I'm old.
  7. It was a great night. Well done to all those involved, from organisers, sponsors, compere, bookies, punters...oh and the players for their time too. A healthy sum raised, which is what it's all about.
  8. Guilty as charged on both counts.Apologies if rant and paper were OTT. On the subject of Beaton I couldn't believe what time wasting was allowed. While it would only smack of sour grapes now, I can't believe I paid £22 to watch the ball in play for probably less than 45 mins in total.
  9. I'm guessing that makes me one of her two eejits, my son being the other. Cheers for that. I appreciate that my views may be different from others, and also that I can be loud. If that makes me an eejit, I've been one for a fecking long time. I hope to be around for a long time to come, so choose your seat wisely ;o)
  10. Sadly, that's now the main thought in my head about the team, the season, Motherwell FC as a whole. They've got my season ticket money and today's "performance" was one step too far. The remaining games? I really can't be bothered. As a fan of some 40 years, I've seen plenty of guff, but today I asked why do I bother. Nobody else seemed to. Depressing doesn't get close to describing it. Gutting? Maybe that's closer.

    Ross County

Just getting time to post now. That's what comes of having a phone with no signal, a 170 mile drive home, passengers to drop off, and family desperate to do stuff with you when you've been away all day Saturday! All worth if though :0) I thought both teams were a bit nervy, but County definitely took control maybe 15-20 mins in. We looked very fragile and not too many players looked like they wanted the ball. Route 1 was pretty much the only outlet and rarely looked like it would achieve much. Lawson and Lasley looked very slow up against Gardyne, and the twice he skipped away from them, he was attacking our back 4 at pace, but fortunately we survived. I was keen to see half time and change something as we looked very disjointed. However, for some reason (I didn't see anything obvious) we kind of got braver with 5-10 mins of first half to go. Players wanted the ball and started winning battles against their opposite number. We started to link up well and made progress with the ball on the deck. The 2nd half saw more of the same. Erwin linked well with Sutton and also found space on the flanks to give back 4 or midfield an out ball. A couple of quality strikes in quick succession gave the team a huge lift, and I couldn't see a way back for County. I thought we were more likely to score than them, but they huffed and puffed and did enough down our right to pull one back and make the last 10 a bit more nervy. I think we deserved the 3 points, if only just. Man of the match? I thought Reid had an excellent game out of position, and some of Vigurs play was magnificent, but energy, guts, tenacity from Erwin shaded it for me. He's still raw and can be a bit clumsy but there's definitely talent there and a great work ethic.
  12. not a reply to any post in particular, just a dump of the rubbish going round my head since the pain of Saturday afternoon. First and foremost, there seems to be a lack of confidence about the team, which I guess, stems from some of the performances of late. Trying to be objective and balanced, I thought we started OK on Saturday, and up until the goals, didn't look anything like as bad as we did at the end. Sadly, the effects of the goals, and the cheapness of them seemed to drain what fragile confidence we did have, and galvanized United, to the point where they were almost toying with us. They could and should have scored more than they did, indeed the offside goal looked very dodgy from my seat at half-way in the East. But we didn't ask anything like enough questions of them, and they took full advantage. The main thing that struck me about the two teams was the difference in workrate off the ball. For the most part, United players had an option to pass to feet virtually all the time, which was in complete contrast to 'Well players. Their man in possession had an easy pass if he wanted, where ours were forced to launch it, or attempt to beat the United players (and there was normally more than one) challenging for the ball, or be caught in possession. ZFA losing the second goal being a prime example. It seemed the guy on the ball was being hung out to dry, and left with a lose-lose situation. Downward spiral, as possession surrendered, we chased the ball for a while, and confidence dipped Trying to work out why (it sure beats working !) it seems obvious enough that some of our players are slower when compared to last year. We haven't replaced the pace of Humphrey or Ojamaa, for example, and Lasley and McFadden are a year older. Is this enough to explain it ? I don't think it can be just that. I agree with most of the constructive posts on here, in that I suspect we need to change formation to suit the players we have, instead of persisting with the notion of forcing last season's formation onto this season's players. We don't have BAD players, but we certainly don't have EFFECTIVE ones, well not at the moment. The team, or the fans at least, got a lift when Moore came on. His effort was rightly applauded, and while some of that might be down to the patience given to a young player, he contributed plenty of zest, and also one of the two dangerous crosses we produced in the game, right along the 6-yard line. Can we start with him, or would that put too much pressure on ? Would he be the next to be dismissed as the promising youngster that didn't quite live up to expectation, if he couldn't achieve the same level of performance over a longer period ? Difficult to say, especially as patience is kind of scarce at times. It might also put pressure on the player if he is seen as the "solution". I think it's safe to say we are in for a tougher time than we've been used to in recent seasons. I'd better go and learn to be patient.....(oh dear, what do they say about old dogs and new tricks !)

Cracking post, and I'm now getting abuse at work for spraying coffee over the desk (BTW, I'm assuming it's sarcasm..... )

    Siwy Fanzine

I'll definitely be looking out for the new fanzine. The difference that the end section have made to the match experience should not be under-estimated. As has been stated, the atmosphere at home games had been dire for some time, and without the young lads having the balls to stand up and be counted (despite the (ahem) slightly less than complementary comments) it could only have continued to stagnate. When guys with years of service are in two minds if it's worthwhile coming on a Saturday, then it shows how serious things have been and might be again. If nothing else, the players appreciate the positive noise, particularly away from home. There might also be a more hidden positive. I can see the younger members of our support (school age) wanting to become involved with the end-section. In the same way that most of us (I guess) found out over the years what parts of the terracing got involved more, sung more, etc. and found a spot that suited, we now have a section that shows some enthusiasm, etc. and supporters can sit / stand nearer and nearer until they are comfortable getting more involved. It can also be a focal point for fund-raising, as has been mentioned. Again, this can only be a positive if it highlights what displays are being planned, what contributions are needed, etc. More power to your elbows !
  15. I can't imagine why those in charge of our club would wish to become a creditor to a club in administration though. Should a CVA be created, and we would have no say in this, we would only be receiving a percentage of the money owed. Therefore, we should not be extending credit to the administrators in charge of Rangers, and either taking money up front for any tickets provided to them for sale, or selling directly from the MFC ticket office. I can't see the police allowing PATG or even last minute sales.
  16. Thought I'd add my tuppence worth.... I have been around the halfway line at the East Stand since well before the seats. Like many, I’ve noticed the atmosphere steadily getting quieter over the years, and the number of games where it stays lively reduced to an occasional cup-tie, or an old firm game. There is still the occasional song, but most of the noise in recent past has been shouting, and a lot of that has been less than positive. I must confess that some of it has been me, especially when the ‘Well are at their most frustrating. My son asked the other week if we could move from our season ticket seats and sit with the “singing section”, as he thought it would be better. I asked if he wanted to go on his own, (he’s a small-ish 12) and he said he’d prefer if I went too. So we were in the end section for the Aberdeen game. Him, slightly younger than the majority, and me, bringing the average age up a fair bit The game itself was OK in spells, but there were many passages of play which could hardly be described as enthralling. HOWEVER, up at our end, the match itself wasn’t the only thing going on, and we were able to contribute some volume. Despite a few of the players putting in what I can only say were sub-standard performances, and on occasions, sub-standard effort, there was no temptation to get involved in shouting abuse. Had I been in my normal seat, I might have been tempted. But not in the end section. I guess it’s a mind-set that I need to get into more often. While we don’t want the players thinking that any standard of effort and/or skill is acceptable (as we’ll be all happy-clappy regardless) positive support from the terracing (I wish !) will still do more good than harm. I think that’s what’s important here. I asked my son if he’s enjoyed it more or less than his season ticket seat, and he said he’d like to move his seat ! Now maybe some of that was down to getting a late winner, and putting one over the old codgers, but I think it’s more what he got from the day. What I now need to do is scrape up the £50 to head up to Tannadeechee, and add my not inconsiderable volume to the songs. I guess he won’t enjoy it as much if we get pumped, but I know he’ll enjoy it more with the drums and noise, than he would with a grumpy old geezer of a dad
  17. Andy Wa*ker's goal got us back to 2-1 and Smith's header was the equaliser. Another painful semi-final defeat - there were many around then
  18. For me (East Stand = £270), with an under-17 (£70) and an under-13 (free), the 20 games work out at £17 per game, which will be something similar to getting the 3 of us into the Cineworld in Falkirk. I'd MUCH rather be at Fir Park though. And if you think the catering at FP is pricey, the cinema is on another planet !
  19. To all those involved, what a fantastic effort. I wasn't able to contribute before the event, but I have now. The card display was one of the best parts of the day. Huge credit to you, as there must have been a phenomenal amount of work to be put in, and with no guarantee of success or recognition (or breaking even financially) I think I'll have to turn a blind eye to the next few smoke bombs
  20. Not sure if this (the quoted message) refers to me or not, but I'll be there. I have a kind of strange "not that bothered" feeling about tomorrow's game, after the euphoria of Wednesday. That'll all have changed by 3pm though.... (edit to fix shocking typing)
  21. Mr B from Falkirk I fear you have missed the date by which all tickets have to be purchased Happy to help The other Mr B from Falkirk
  22. Doh ! Trust me to forget probably the best of them all. Well, that I've been at.
