  1. I'd be interested in getting my hands on a copy on Sunday's game, if possible. The wins against the vile twins are rare enough, but winning by more than a goal ? I can remember 3-0 against the buns (McClair in Jan-83), then again in '91 (Philliben and Arnott X 2) that I was at, and I can recall an end of season 2-0 against the buns (Ally McLeod season I think), as well as the 3-0 Andy Lynch game, which I wasn't at. Obviously, there's the 5-2 Ibrox game which was before my time (I think) Anybody got others ? Any pics or video more than welcome too !
  2. I haven't contributed this season yet, kept meaning to but never got round to it How much do you need to get "over the line" ? I went to the dinner in May, and it was a cracking night. Having a shirt as well would be a HUGE bonus (go on my raffle ticket ) Cheers S
  3. laughed out loud in the office - not good, but I think I am allowed today....
  4. As "her boy", thanks very much for the "decent" bit. My ears seem to be OK (my dad's aren't ) and I am now in the process of deafening no.1 son (with my volume rather than hers). I didn't make Saturday's game, nor the previous week's game, so apologies for jinxing our decent run. I don't make as many games as "Mrs Falkirk", but there will be few who do. She is pretty much there every week, and her heart is in the right place, even if it seems otherwise sometimes. A bit like us all I guess. As far as the Nijholt abuse goes, I don't remember her being anti-Luc at all, but my ears might not be that good after all . Oh, and as for mistaking players on the pitch - hands up who has NEVER done that.
  5. I guess, like most, I can see good news and bad news. Good news that a seasoned, well-respected pro has extended his stay. The bad news as mentioned, being that we were told something along the lines of "no announcements till all talks have been held". My take on this though, is that unless all the players decide (& sign) at the same time, then the club are not going to be in a position to announce all the stayers and all the leavers at the same time. They could have kept quiet about Hammell, but this would have allowed the "I've got a source" merchants to leak the details and make the club look unprofessional. In any event, for any of the out-of-contract players, I can't imagine it could be seen as anything other than positive that one of their team-mated has signed up already, unless of course the kitty has less money in it for them
  6. Nobody else has mentioned it, possibly because it wasn't that popular, and it was some tmie ago.....possibly late 70s early 80s. Theme from The Sting, and after each line, you would clap once and raise a hand in the air. Does anybody else remember this, or have I really gone senile ? I also remember taking the p1ss out of a ball-boy at Dumbarton during the game we thrashed them 6-0 (Brucie hat-trick IIRC). Songs like "There's only one ugly ball-boy", "the ball-boy sits to pee" and other such gems. I guess there were too few opposition fans to sing at. I'm sure we managed a lusty "You're staying down again" to the jambos when we beat them 1-0 in the last game of our Div.1 winning year under David Hay, and Killie won at QoS to consign them to another season in Div.1 instead of them coming up with us.
  7. Just to say a HUGE thank you to all those involved in what was a fantastic night. I don't know if it's possible to realise how smoothly it went until you've been to something which hasn't (final at 2am after the bar's closed, for example) Great to see the former players, the current players, the chairman, and the fans, all giving up their time and money for an excellent cause. It was a privilege to attend, and get knocked out by the captain of our cup-winning side (I took a dive, honest !) and I hope that a similar event can be held again. Well done to everybody.
  8. Sorry all you East Stand (centre) fans, I'll be renewing, and will be as animated as ever. There was a time when I was swithering : when the Cooper fiasco was shown up as even more farcical, when it was more than half empty, in a crowd of 9k when the Nancy home leg became cheaper to not use your season ticket seat and sit in the South. before those in charge eventually realised that having £5 games made it less economical to buy a season ticket However, recent events have convinced me that the club may just be coming around to the idea that sometimes it's worth listening to the fans. You'll never please all of them all of the time, indeed some may NEVER be happy, but I think progress has been made. Anyway, I'll be getting my season ticket even though it will no doubt be cheaper for me to PATG, with the inevitable work commitments, holidays, Setanta / Sky shuffling of match days, etc. keeping me away. Now, a wee win tomorrow, the right result on Sunday, and 5 wins post-split, and the world's our oyster...... God Bless the 'Well S
