Motherwell Vs Celtic: Cup Final

As many have said before it has to be 4-5-1 (Wellarmy's team), don't let them settle, battle for every inch of grass. Get Humphrey to pin back Izzy, which in turn will force Celtic to pin back Commons too. You can still have a go from a 4-5-1 - we did it at Fir Park.

Scary the amount of people that think 4-4-2 with Murphy and Humphrey playing is a good idea!

That seemed to be the consensus on BBC Sportsound as well with Jim Traynor, Chick Young and David Moyes. The Scottish Cup is basically Celtic's to lose. Give me a break. It's as if Celtic deserve to win the Scottish Cup, otherwise it will be a trophy-less season. The usual....

Jim Traynor is an Airdrie :wank: Chick Young is a St Midden :wank: and Moyes is a Smeltic :wank: everyone in agreement .

I'd have Carswell on the bench incase anything happens to Jennings or Lasley.

Still too young and inexperienced for me. With Ross and Gunning you have a couple of players that can fill in on more than one position which helps us as well.

I think Stuart McCall will go with;

Randolph

Hateley Craigan Hutchinson Hammell

Humphrey Jennings Lasley Murphy

Jeffers Sutton

But I think he might have a back up plan in the shape of a 4-5-1 and go 4-3-3 when we attack, please pick flaws as you see fit;

Randolph

Saunders Craigan Hutchinson Hammell

Humphrey Jennings Hateley Lasley Murphy

Sutton

No flaws. Hit the nail on the head. My guess is that the game will start as Option 2 and that Jeffers will be brought on 2nd half.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already however I was just thinking tonight the pressureand weight of expectation on Lennon and Celtic to win the cup must be enormous, they failed in Europe, the CIS and the League campaign.

Hopefully this transfers through to the players and we see another nervy display similar to when they threw away the league at ICT and when Zorba missed his penalty against the other cheek of the OF Arse.

I don't think we need to be in about them from the off, rather soak up the pressure and the greatest fans in the world will start to give them pelters.

I agree about the pressure. Especially when almost every big one off game Celtic have lost under Lennon. Ross County, Braga, Utrecht, Rangers (CIS), ICT....

See where you are coming from regarding soak up pressure but when you have a guy like Commons that will ping them from anyway within 35 yards I think soaking up pressure tends to lead to siting back allowing players, like Commons a target to hit.

Yeah but that 4-4-2 is basically a 4-2-4. We'd be overrun and out of the contest by half time.

Yeah, this. That team is insane. Giving Commons the run of the wing is madness, madness I tell you.

the team is fairly obvious. i've heard mo ross hasn't been training so saunders will be at right back. a repeat of his last performance at hampden would be ideal.

the subs should be hollis, gunning, jones, jeffers and carswell. i don't think we'll see jeffers unless we are getting beat. i think carswell will make the bench as we need cover for centremid and he has moved ahead of forbes since he made his debut.

Well 1 Smellies 0

Hateley trademark free kick just like he did against the h**s last year. 16,000 off us + his old da' would go fuckin mental

You forgot to add in the second minute of the 2 minutes added on at FT, just as an extra GIRFUY to all the tims :thumbup:

This is how the Well supporters from the Orb Bar in Bellshill travelled to Hampden in 1991.Please remember this was long before stretch limos were the in thing,We caused great confusion when we reached Hampden with two police bikers(lights flashing) giving the chauffer driven Daimler an escort right up to the players and officials entrance stopping all traffic from moving anywhere near our path in the process.I can still remember the look on the coppers faces when the chauffeur opened our doors and six well oiled Well fans fell out.ScottishCup1.jpg
