How Is Your Club Run?

On behalf of a colleague:

We are currently students at Stirling University doing our Masters in Applied Social Research our research is on Scottish Football Governance and are currently in the data gathering process of the report having been approved by the School of Applied Social Science Ethics Committee.

We intend on asking the fans whether or not Scottish football teams should change the way they are run, for example from chairman and board (corporate governance) to supporters trust and fan committees (citizen governance). As you will be aware, the issue has been in the public sphere for sometime now, and with the recent troubles at one of Scotland’s largest teams it has become even more prevalent in the media.

We were hoping that you would post a link to our survey for your members to participate in, and if you were to post the link it would help to get more to participate. We would explain fully what the survey was about and who we were in the post with the link, why we want the data, what it would be used for etc. We are asking your permission, but also for your participation.

The survey will take no longer than ten minutes to complete and is purely for the purposes of this research.

Cheers.

It took you twenty minutes to complete the survey? Or your going to do it in twenty minutes? If it was the first one, thanks I take it you left a lot of details for us?

I just wanted to post a link so that you can see why we decieded to study this, do fans want a larger say in how there clubs are run?

I filled it in mate. It took a little longer than anticipated, but is an interesting topic which is something that's on the forefront of a lot of Motherwell fans minds at the moment due to the 'Well Society and potential change to the model in which our club is run.

Cheers Gaag, sorry if it is taking longer than anticipated folks, we had an average time of 9 minutes in testing. We could do with as many replies as possible though. Still need another 400 or so to be happy.

A story of how a team could be changing the way it is run with new owners. I think I read that Craig Whyte said he would oppose the Blue Knights takeover bid. Should he have any say? Does he have any say? If there are a group of fans paying some debts off, shouldn't they then be involved in deciding who can take over the team? Gaag mentions about the Well Society, we are hoping to get in touch with them as well.

Hey guys not wanting to spam, but need to give this a bump up. We have two more weeks left and hoping for a big push this week to get the numbers up. If you could convince anyone with an interest in the topic to take part, it would be appreciated.

Been interesting to see the goings on at Rangers, the administrators trying to cut costs, but it seems the players wage reduction has mainly went into their pockets by the way of charges. Do the fans have any say as to who the preferred candidate is for the takeover?

Thanks for the feedback, we will be reporting back with the findings and will answer any questions you may have. One interesting development is the team that has given us the most replies so far, not that it says anything above conjecture regarding the involvement or how fans of different teams care about how their team is run on different levels compared to others, just interesting so far. It isn't the team I thought it would be either. Thanks again for your help.
