Perhaps but I would imagine that the TV money from SKY covering the game would have been the main factor.

The update mentions Sky but I don't think that they are showing it. 

And regardless of that you don't get an extra payment for hosting a televised league match.

In all honesty playing the game on the 23rd is a much better option, Christmas eve  should be a family day ,last minute shopping, sorting out the dinner, running about daft with a list the length of your arm etc so lads just think how many brownie points you will get by agreeing to dedicate Christmas eve to the wife/ girlfriend/ boyfriend etc instead of ditching them to watch Motherwell :nod:
