He backed himself into a corner with the squad he built at Fir Park whereas at Killie he can start afresh. And he has a youth team that just won the Cup which suggests he might have a good few young players coming through. He may well have landed on his feet......if his ego allows him to learn from previous mistakes. Then again pressure will ramp up quickly as expectations will be high and he will have to win over another bunch of dubious fans. And he is not taking over from a Stevie Hammell which gave him some leeway at Fir Park. I doubt the Killie Board will be as patient as our Board was. Could well be gone by Christmas. I wonder if grizzlyg will be sneaking off to Kilmarnock to catch the odd game! Anyway Kettlewell is old news. Far more interested in who turns up at Fir Park. I hope Van Der Gaag is next up but I fear we will end up with a 'safe pair of hands' who has a record in Scotland Nope.....still raging 🤣🤣. Killie are welcome to him. It’s possible our Board are in panic mode (assuming that Wimmer’s departure has come right out of the blue) and of the view they need to make a quick appointment and that could mean they go for what they consider a safe pair of hands. I believe that we passed on Valakari and Van Der Gaag previously. Given the former seems to have St Johnstone’s owner’s approval then maybe Van Der Gaag’s time has come. fizoxy
Nothing has happened yet to suggest the club are panicking in any way. Maybe they are running around with their hair on fire, but other than a press release 2 days ago not a single thing has come from the club, officially or otherwise. I'll be ignoring everything the papers put out over the next few weeks, and the bookies odds as well, as we all know it will be made up shite. The lack of names being posted on here so far is going to have them scrambling. On a similar note, when did we last go down the "safe pair of hands route?" When did we last hire a "usual suspect"? For better or worse, we've tended to do the opposite. Similarly, how often do clubs really do this? I'm not even sure who would fall into this group, Mcinnes seems like the closest to this currently, maybe Goodwin? But it seems that more often than not, premier league clubs are going the external or untried route, rather than recycling the same guys. There must be some genuinely decent young/modern Scottish managers around, and I'd love it if we unearthed someone like that, but the reality is that they'd be enough of a known quantity that our fans would write them off from day 1.
