  1. Past hour
  2. Really disappointing. Weren't good enough at both ends while having the best of possession. Thought they just seemed more up for it than us and made less mistakes. 4-1 still flattered them a bit, just seemed they took near enough every chance that came thier way.
  3. Ah well I'd rather be disappointed at going out in the semi than the usual pumping by one of the Old Firm. In the final. Que sera and all that..
  4. I'd add a left back to that too. In essence pretty much a new defence.
  5. Need in January 1 right back 1 goalkeeper 1 centre forward 1 centre back
  6. JBA has had a limited time since the summer to get new players in, playing a style that looks good and may be new to them. So can't be too critical overall the team is good to watch .But he has to learn by his mistakes
  7. JBA was a defender as a player. Hired by Sparta Prague as their defensive coach. He got sacked. Says it all really. Another coach who can't set up a defense and fails to realize that Liam Gordon is shite. Subbed at half time. Was totally bullied by Mandron. Don't worry he will play him in the next game.
  8. That one was on JBA. He has the January transfer window to show he can make this work, but my confidence in him is starting to waver. It doesn’t help that his number 9 and central defence are completely useless.
  9. Won't say too much , just that I am absolutely gutted and was hoping for better First game this season I think where the opposition deserved the win . Only hope now is it doesn't affect our season too much
  10. Was watching our keeper for their first goal just before the corner was taken . He was standing about like he was waiting on a bus hands by his sides n looking lost orginising nothing. He's not a class goalie I'm afraid .
  11. Just back in from the game (finished too late to get ferry home) and I get rewarded with a night in a Prem Inn in Greenock......the good news just never stops today.... Starting Said instead of Slattery was criminal and to a slightly lesser extent, but still a mistake, not starting Welsh. Too much footering when a shot or a proper cross was required. Just had a golden opportunity to score and tried to tippy tap a pass instead. Said was just pish and so was Longelo. Just all round bad day at the office. St Mirren certainly negated us by not pressing too high, knowing we can't create around a crowded box. Thoroughly pissed off this evening !
  12. Well that was pump, too slow going forward and defensively rotten. I thought some of the players were colour blind with the amount of passes straight to the opposition. But the game is over so we have to learn from it. Fingers crossed we can pick up a couple of players in January who can do the basics right and score some goals
  13. Actually thought we played ok ,nice passing game but no plan B to the way we play. Whe must have had nearly 60- 70% possession again but no end product Robinson had our number right from the start , let us pass the ball 2/3 way up then get close to us , shut down us and take the chances we give them. St Midden played a cup tie and deserved to win it ,sad to say.
  14. We need a goalkeeper , left back, centre half and a centre forward as a minimum in January window.
  15. Stama won't do was on the fence for last while but he has no killer instinct of a striker .Too tippy tappty light weight.Hes there to score goals n doesn't unless itss a pen .That's what we need, at least one anyway.
  16. Today
  17. Really disappointing today. Didnt turn up first half and although St Mirren didnt cut us open we gifted them 2 goals and its a long way back from there. Second half we were better, but once again poor decisions in the final third cost us. Stama was very poor today and Im ready to accept Hendry should be starting until we can get someone better in. Maswanhise, Said and Longelo all seemed well off it today as well, although by no means the only ones. I thought once we got the goal we might get back into it, but instead we lost all discipline and composure and on the wrong end of a bad scoreline. You could argue that the starting line up was wrong, but none of us know what the injury/fitness levels of various players are/were, and I didnt have any real arguments with the lineup beforehand. We certainly improved with Welsh, Slattery and Hendry on the pitch, but could they have started/lasted 60 minutes? Just really disappointing to shit the nest in such an important game. Will take a few days to lick the wounds of this one.
  18. Ward for the 3rd could do better, but the guy had a free run more or less at him. Plenty of poorer performances than Ward. Perhaps the manager was blinded with thoughts that the game would go into extra time and he was saving Slattery and Cook for that.
  19. Pretty miserable after that. plenty of nice play followed by launching poor balls into the box or attempting to score the perfect goal when the opportunity to shoot presented itself. Falkirk were able to bully us, feels like it was inevitable that the professional bullies would run over the top of us. hopefully a couple of transfer windows we can add some mettle to the team to give us a different option if teams are more physical than we are.
  20. Fair assessment from JBA post match basically saying we were second best and didn’t defend well enough. He needs to show that he and the team can learn from it though.
  21. Just in and that was awful, really disappointing and I can’t help but think we played like a team who believed our own press and thought we just needed to turn up today. i can’t stand Robinson and his team and style of play but they knew exactly what to do today to stop us and we were outmuscled in every area of that park. I thought Welsh steadied things a bit when he came on but we were poor and didn’t deserve anything today. i want JBA to continue to play his team in the way he has done but he needs to know how to manage playing massive spoiler teams like st Mirren and not get bullied. I’m sure JBA and the players have learned a massive lesson today but that did feel a bad one, a really good chance of a final blown.
  22. Its still early days. Mirren are a settled team, who on the day took their chances when the ball broke to them. You need luck to win a cup and they got plenty today. Sometimes a step back can be more beneficial in the long term. St Mirren are what we were years ago. Big bad and ugly with the odd flash of brilliance. It only gets you so far.
  23. Totally agree we don't need to abandon anything, what were doing is working to a point but to keep making progress we need some more players in that are comfortable in the system and some that can actually defend,it was always going to take time.theres absolutely no doubt though that were paying the price for having most of the defenders that were here last season,we needed a complete change in that department over the summer and it never happened.
  24. Just back in, where to start with that performance today, we got what we deserved absolutely feck all. St mirren were 2-0 up with two shots on target, 2nd half they knew the game was won and just sat back, knowing fine well we were not going to trouble them. We finally do something right and get back into the game only to shit the nest 1 min later, another defensive shit fest, especially from Ward. Playing out from the back with flowing tippy tappy stuff is ok but we are too slow and have no threat up front, and St Mirren knew that. What concerns me is that JBA seemed to have no plan B, continuing with the same approach that clearly wasn't working. 4-1 flattered st mirren big time but we were brutal, a big chance missed today oh and our support were anonymous for most of the game. Our tactics and game plan were shit today that needs to change.
  25. As I’ve said before I don’t really agree with the ‘no cutting edge’ theory, we’ve scored plenty goals for a team with no cutting edge. Although there may be an issue with the centre forward though. For large parts of the game we were the better team but St Mirren were more composed, when we looked nervy. Did all the street smarts and dark arts better than us, were physically stronger and gave us a severe lesson in finishing as well as defending. We weren’t at our best in any area of the pitch today but the big issue was defensively. At 2-1 we should be right back in the match with 10 to play. Instead we instantly concede a trash goal. We really need to defend better cos asking for a cutting edge that scores 3 or 4 goals is a big, big ask.
