This should be a cracking game. I’m going for another 3–3, or a 3–2 win for us if the stars align.
-
Oh, and Elijah Just is awesome. Hes another that I don't think will be with us long, but as per the post above, he's such an intelligent player, and his work rate is excellent.
-
It's hard not to get carried away with the start to the season, but one thing that makes this a bit different is that a lot of the optimism and general good feeling isn't just tied to results. As pissed off as most of us were about the semi final, we all moved on rather quickly - and that's just weird. JBA will definitely be on the radar of much bigger clubs with the way he's transformed this team in such a short time. We have seen managers like Shaun Maloney, who has the exact same ethos (and worked with our assistant) struggle to get that across, and you wonder if someone like him could drop in once JBA goes and continue the work - not advocating him in particular, just wondering if JBA has set the foundation.. Im also interested in whether other scottish clubs will try the same. I also wonder if more ambitious managers will be open to coming to Scotland, and the smaller clubs at that, to build theor stock. Wimmer should get dome credit for kicking this off as well, and bringing us Fadinger at the very least.
-
Didn't realize that was McGinn both times, takes "dangerous pass" to a whole new level.
- Today

I also went with Priestman. I was worried about the lineup, but I was fine with the rotation, and that's all I saw it as at the time. I thought there would be a significant drop-off with Priestman in for Fadinger, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

No, for the simple reason when clubs like us are on the verge of something decent it's taken from us. Sportsound last night had already started the chat about Jens being taken from us. So enjoy it while it lasts because it will be fleeting.
-
I think we will be comfortably over 10k. We had over 5k last night on a freezing cold midweek night with the game live on MFCtv and sandwiched between 2 other big games. Hitting 6k should be achievable. Add Hearts 4.6k and we should be looking at out biggest attendance in years.
-
Exactly, and talk about playing out from the back, how good was mcginns pass last night that led to the sending off,he did similar at kilmarnock that got us the penalty.we could get some joy with that type of through ball against hearts as there centre backs aren't the quickest.
-
Are we on the brink of a bright new dawn? Probably not but enjoy the ride just now...we will lose a few goals by playing out from back, the fans need to accept that.
-
Celtic and Rangers aren’t playing until Sunday either. I know quite a number of them from both sides who regularly go along to fir park when their “big team” aren’t playing. Might swell the crowd a bit too. i actually spoke to an old duffer of a Celtic fan last week who said he’d stopped going to Celtic games altogether and goes to all the Motherwell home games now… said it was a better experience as it’s been poisonous at parkhead….. didn’t want to say to him that it’s been poisonous forever at parkhead.
-
Great news, didn't realise hearts had sold as many as that...looking forward to it.
-
I must admit when I saw him playing for Celtic, I didn't think he was that good....been pleasantly surprised with him at fp.
-
We had 5100 last night midweek and freezing so if we can get 6000 that's a crowd of nearly 11000

Same as everyone else in being over the moon with last night. Jens going to a 3 at back with in effect a false 9 is what the big teams in Europe do tactically at times not little Motherwell. I seriously mean this when I say I cannot believe some of the football we are playing. David Gray said we didn't do anything different to what he expected but we changed shape and personnel so his management skills are obviously not fit for purpose. Their 3 defenders did not have a clue what to do as our 3 attackers were dropping into midfield etc etc. Hearts now will be wondering what formation we will play on Saturday and Jens has shown that we can play other ways. I'd have cook at cf on Saturday instead of our recognised centre forwards. He is so mobile and with maswahanise at side and just and slattery behind. Fading er and watt and defense of koutroumbis mcginn welsh longelo. Locking forward to it

If hearts bring what's predicted, I'd like to think 9k?
-
Wilson will be moving on, its clear he is not rated by JBA, hes got no pace and the fact he is not getting a game at Raith would suggest hes not that highly rated there either
-
-
Plus 6 minutes extra time in the first half equals 90.😁

I'd only add that moving abroad is a huge change and presents all sorts of new problems; especially at that age. I'm sure I could (and many of the other overseas posters on here also could) give a long list of things you never considered having to deal with. I'm not surprised it is taking a few months to adjust.

I came across this analysis on X by @johnwalker_1986 and was going to share on the Hibs thread, but this seems a more appropriate place given it shows how much of a transformation has taken place in such a short period of time. Frankly, it's astonishing; < Motherwell: Dominating Without the Ball A lot of praise has rightly went to Motherwell & Jens Berthel Askou for their work "With the Ball" but last night was a clinic on how to control a game "Without the Ball". Hibs Analysis > Wing-Backs High & Wide to Deliver > Hanley "Limited" Distribution Quality > Barlaser Key in Building Through Lines Motherwell Press: > Leave Hanley Spare > Front 2 Pressing Outside CB's > Just Blocking Barlaser > Triggers to Jump on Hanley After Bushiri Pass inside > Frustrates Wing-Backs to Drop Deeper & Deeper Just Intelligence & Scanning Elijah Just is one of the signings of the season, he has absolutely everything but last night his intelligence and technical ability without the ball was exceptional: > Regularity of Scanning for Barlaser > Blocks Barlaser & Creates Chances to Jump > Wins Penalty & Scores off the Back of that work Work-Rate When Broken Albeit happened only once in the 30mins the game was 11v11, it helps when players work-rate is at such a high intensity when Hibs did break through, Motherwell got back behind the ball & forced an error. Best Coached Side in the Country Currently 👌 >

Given the radical overhaul of the way we were playing, I expected a lot more defeats early in the season, with the rewards not starting to come until after Christmas. I have been pleasantly surprised how quickly we were able to pick up points. The fact we were disappointed not to win some of the first few matches speaks volumes about the progress. It's been great to watch us develop, and the exciting thing is have barely started. Who knew letting footballers play football could be so entertaining?
-
Now that we have gone through one round of games it's probably a good barometer on the team's progress. From my own point of view, I really think this is genuinely an exciting time for the club. The football we are playing is exceptional and like nothing I could ever have dreamed of seeing at Fir Park. I was chatting to a few mates, and I actually think the only game we have actually deserved to lose all season was the St Mirren semi final. If you look back at the league fixtures: Motherwell v Rangers - 1-1 - draw probably a fair result but could have nicked it. St Mirren 0 v 0 Motherwell - fair result Hearts 3 v 3 Motherwell -- should have won Motherwell 2- 2 Killie - Should have won Dundee 1 - 1 Motherwell - Should have won Motherwell 2- 0 Aberdeen - Justified Celtic 3 - 2 Motherwell - Draw probably would have been a fair result Motherwell 1 - 2 Falkirk - Game of two halfs- draw might have been a fair result. Livingston 1 - 2 - Fair result Motherwell 2 - 0 Dundee Utd - Fair result Aberdeen 1 - 1 Motherwell - Probably should have won it. Killie 1 - 3 Motherwell - Pumped them Motherwell 2 - 0 Hibs - Total domination. Every one of these games we have not been dominated by anyone and the really good thing about this is the trend we are moving towards - scoring goals and then controlling games, reducing the draws. Exciting times.

Tickets bought, looking forward to it. What a difference wandering into work these days, playing lovely football, a real positive feeling about the manager, players, club in general. someone posted the starting 11 at the same time last season on Twitter and my god we have come a long way. the blip was the semi final but it’s clear there have been lessons learned from it.
-
Brilliant result considering at one point I hadnt a clue who was playing where ! Not sure how many people played left back throughout the game Thats one position we need cover in. Shame Ewan Wilson is kicking his heels on the bench at Raith Rovers surely he would be better back learning how to play the Motherwell way

Last night proved we can rotate the starting eleven without shifting our fundamental approach. It also underlined JBA’s tactical nous in adapting formations to the game while keeping our style intact. With a few January ins/outs, we should only get better as the season progresses.
