Getting the top 6 in February….. Not even any need for a Rickie Lamie last minute goal!!! we are so boring…… but I’ll take it 🤣
-
Very pleasing. I know we are all looking up the way, but these little milestones will let the board start planning early for next season....
-
Stick a linky on Peter! 😍😍😍 Although Im sure we can find it!

A wee bit of self promotion, sort of! Myself and fellow Well fan Gary Muircroft (Crofty off Go Radio) have started a podcast called Motherwell Daft. It's available on You Tube, Spotify and Apple. We've done 2 episodes already, pre and post St Mirren. We plan to do a weekly preview and then review of all Motherwell matches, so any feedback is appreciated, not to mention likes, shares and for folk to subscribe! Cheers 👍

Pretty early by our "last gasp goal on last pre-split fixture" standards.
-
Top six now confirmed thanks to Dundee United and Aberdeen drawing tonight.
-
My understanding is that taking the top 6 as it stands we will have 2 home (Celtic and Hearts) and 3 away fixtures post split. The team that will be complaining will be Rangers as they will need to have 3 away games to ensure a 19/19 split..... to mirror Celtic and avoid meltdown in the east end of Glasgow.. Given the current top 6 standings Rangers are due 3 post split games at Ibrox which would mean 20/18 split in their favour.. So I gather their fixture at home to Falkirk will be switched. Rangers will then have a 19/19 split and Falkirk 20/18 split.

To be honest it was the right decision. Yes Trusty now out for a few games, maybe they will start Welsh........oh that's right.......they cannae 🤣😂
-
Long way to go but I would like hearts home last game woth is needing only a point but with them out title race
-
The methodology for setting the post-split fixtures is flawed, unfair nonsense that gets zero proper scrutiny and shows little regard for fairness across the league.
-
An important point. The new board, Wimmer and JBA have set the direction and the standard going forward.
-
Correct and certainly a European game or two would not be a huge influence on decisions anyone on our books has to make if a big offer and big club comes in.
-
Will 2 at home and 3 away not give us 19 home and away over the season? We have (will have) played: Rangers, Falkirk, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen & Dundee Utd at home times two, (12 games) and, Dundee, Celtic, Hearts, Livingstone & St. Mirren once (5 games) = 17 home, 16 away.

I think their is some truth in those comments but generally it will come down to whether they are earning enough in the first place to make any potential increase less critical or life changing. I doubt the wages on offer at Motherwell to players and staff provide the financial security that would enable anyone to refuse a huge uplift. Hastie is the classic example. I wonder where he would be financially if he had stayed put? Maybe still at Airdrie having been released by us and needing a second job to make ends meet. As mentioned above, he made the right, safer choice. Like every one on here I hope Askou and our top players and coaches are here next season. But I am realistic enough to understand they will look to move on if/when the right offer comes along. It would only take one poor season for their value....and those job offers... to return to previous levels. Let's enjoy what we have when we have it and pray that any replacements continue the amazing progress that has been seen this season.
-
The vast majority are cos very few of us have the luxury of finance not being the major factor in our decisions.
-
Oh there nowt better than loving your job but very few of us would let that stop us increasing our take home 20 fold. I'm sure Stuart McCall enjoyed his time with us more but the contract Rangers have him will have soothed his concerns. Slight difference for guys who are already very wealthy, they have the luxury of being picky. Anyone on our books is not extremely wealthy therefore are extremely unlikely to stay for the love of it or a European game.
-
Very true. Not everyone is driven solely by money.
-
Maybe. Maybe Jake Hastie got over it with his big wage bump for his Rangers contract. Maybe Reece McAlear got over it with his big wage bump for his Norwich contract. Maybe Stuart McKinstry got over it with his big wage bump for his Leed Utd contract You think Stuart McCall enjoyed managing Rangers as much as he enjoyed managing us? If someone is in it for the money, more power to them. I think, however, there is something to be said for enjoying your job, even (or especially) when that job is playing a game.
-
Hope this doesn't come back to bite Slattery (and us) on the arse. I wouldn't put anything past them, even at this stage.
-
Just one more reason to dislike the split.
-
It's a slog I'm sure JT and his family would get over very quickly if he's getting 20 grand a week on a 3 year contract. Nobody says players and managers wouldnt enjoy European football but if you are offered life changing sums of money European football wouldn't matter a fuck for 99% of guys who have a chance to secure their family's lives. Think about your own job if you are offered 10 times your Annual salary are you gonna say no cos you like the team you work with. It's their job and of most are sensible enough they see that. Look at Tony Watt, the number of Motherwell fans who said he should have stayed with us as he could possibly got a Scotland call up. Bet he's glad he ignored that chance and signed a three year contract worth £750,000. Same with Jake Hastie we heard all the stuff about he should have stayed with us where he was guarenteed first team football and develop. He took the £750,000 contract from Rangers and should be made for life despite his career going nowhere. He made the right choice.

They decide the fixtures and then cook up the reasons to justify them
-
That all depends how it works out after the schedule has been manipulated to ensure the ugly sisters get a 19/19 split as usual, unfair is not a concept the SPFL recognise
