I think McGinn has been a good servant but I'd be concerned about a defence with a 33 year old O'Donnell and a 35 year old McGinn (October birthday) in it.
-
Wait no! I told my brother about that one - usually he beats me to everything Motherwell by 30 seconds.

Back in the pub (in Ryde in the Isle of Wight). I usually stay in Shanklin which is beautiful but theres two pubs - one used to be a spoons but it's a Greene King, absolutely stunning pub but the wine is twice the price of spoons - sacrilege!!! The funniest conversation I've ever had in the Isle of Wight was in a Londis shop where the guy behind the counter told me that Dave Gahan from Depeche Modes mum lives on the island and he comes over to see her from America - and cuts her grass. (for some reason I found that hilarious) Sorry to all the young people on here who don't know who Depeche Mode are. (I love Dave Gahan).

They do have two matches against Panathinaikos before they play us. If they struggle in those games there might be a wee bit pressure on them on the first day of the league season. Alternatively, their tails might be up.
-
SK is doing the same scatter gun approach he did with us. Sign tons of players and end up with one gem and 90% pish.
-
He has just made an 'exciting ' signing. A striker who scored 1 goal in 39 games last season.
-
I think its a tough start but swings and roundabouts we have Aberdeen , Dundee Utd , Hibs and Falkirk at home twice. If we were away to all of them twice I wouldn't fancy more than 6/7 points from 24.
-
I would think he'll be backed for that without the Miller millions.
-
Whoops!!.....never thought about that. Good point

Might be July depending on how the league cup games go, but its a certainty that the usual suspects will have us marked for a relegation or playoff battle by the end of the St Mirren game.

I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve got a feeling JBA will prove to be a better manager than Wimmer. Though to be fair to Wimmer, his sample size is small. Maybe it’s because JBA has a clean slate, the chance to bring in several new players, and much of the dross has now been cleared out.
-
Surely, with the incoming Miller millions, JBA will be backed to bring in a proven striker capable of 10–15 goals a season.
-
I thought Askou, generally, came across quite well in his interviews. However you worry slightly when managers come in and start talking about 'modernising' Scottish football and adding extra 'dimensions'. Might I suggest there is going to be a big learning curve for Mr. Askou. You got the impression Wimmer tried to do that and realised pretty quickly it was a no go.
-
Quite tough opening fixtures. We might have the first Askou out before the end of August. 🤣
-
Careful now Grizzly. Would that constitute abuse?
-
No extra security required for Sat 30th August as I am away on holiday!! Lol. Was so looking forward to Kettlewell returning but........actually I hope he DOESN'T get pelters as that would just play into his hands. I would prefer silent treatment and loads of songs about JB and then hopefully come full time cries of STUART STUART WHATS THE SCORE......STUART.....WHAT'S THE SCORE

Another season we have the ugly sisters back to back, looks like a challenging Christmas.
-
This 100%. If he is going to play then he needs a big physical guy to feed from. Of course, the formation we ultimately decide to play will also be a significant influence on that too. My concern is that Robinson and Stuparevic, both out long term, aren't that kind of player either. As it stands, he is our only out and out senior striker on our books. If he gets injured... No doubt JBA will aready have picked up on that.
-
Top of the league come quarter past 7 on opening day - not to be sniffed at.
-
The last two times I can remember us playing Rangers at home on opening day were in 2006 and 2017 and we lost both 1-2. I don’t see this year being any better and looking at our first three fixtures I don’t see us getting anything. The home game v. Kettlewell’s mob looks like our best chance of picking up points early in the campaign.
-
It’s not that I doubt his commitment or ability. I just don’t think he’s the big, commanding centre forward we need (e.g. Bair or KVV). That said, maybe JBA can get more out of him this season, especially if we play a 4-3-3 with proper wingers to support him. Still, I suspect the manager will look to bring in a more physically dominant striker. Ultimately, I can’t see Stama still being here by the third year of his contract, especially if this season mirrors the last.
-
There’s nothing honestly better for me than either Celtic or Rangers on the first day of the season at fir park. so many good memories of these games, starts the season with a blast and not to tempt fate, usually some sort of positive result. Cmon the Well.
-
Might be a good time to get Rangers first game of the season
