A well deserved win in the end. First half was pretty even, but Aberdeen looked the more likely to score. Second half, Motherwell totally in control without making that dominance count until the dying minutes of added on time. Decent peperformances all over the pitch with special mention to SOD who was once again absolutely solid and didn't a foot wrong. What a transformation in his contribution since the arrival of JBA. Elliot was excellent in midfield, Fadinger too gave his usual classy performance. At the back, both Welsh and Gordon repelled everything that came at them. Longelo did his usual maurauding up the left and was a constant threat. He also showed some blistering pace to get back to thwart an Aberdeen chance in the 2nd half. We still have problems at the top end though. Said, Maswanhise and Stamatelopolous put in a lot of effort, but we're not quite on it today. Final ball and finishing need work. If we can get this part of the game right, this will be a season to remember. Well done to everyone. Three points in the bag. Not before time. Edit to mention that Ward did everything he was asked to do. Another clean sheet.

Been a long time critic of Stephen O'Donnell, but this season we've seen a side of him I didn't think existed. All credit to him and another really good performance today.
-
O'Donnell had one header, under Pressure in the first half, back to Ward that was excellent
-
Is it first time well has had 2 Australian scorers in a match? Loved JK interview after saying it was a bit of magic.

Went for Welsh. He was solid. I didn't think we were particularly good today, but the team still put a shift in, and kept their nerve in the latter stages, which was especially important with the lack of bench reinforcements that we have right now. However, we wouldn't have had the chance to win it if Lazetic had taken that chance, and a lot of that goes down to Welsh, who didn't give up and recovered well enough to put him off.
-
Could easily have went for Watt or Welsh but thought O'Donnell looked assured all game with some nice touches in tight positions and going forward unfortunately the latter didn't come off. Whole defence looks fairly solid recently, pity Welsh won't be available at Celtic. Ap Stam put a great shift in but a lot just didn't come off for him, hopefully things will start to click for him.

Knowing Celtic, they'll be looking for a sizable fee they can fail to reinvest in the summer.

Brilliant 3 points, was actually settling for a draw after the chances we missed and they missed a couple of chances late on. Joe Lewis back at Aberdeen as goalie coach? Glad to see Ap Stam put away the penalty, wouldn't like to think what it would have done for his confidence had he missed it.
-
We need one of those parted by mutual consent deals then so we can get him 😃
-
He's under contract until the summer of 2027, unfortunately.
-
O'Donnell for me because he deserves it for his consistency this season and all round quality of performance.
-
Would be nice if we could sign him in January instead of having him on loan.
-
Really impressed with what I’ve seen from Welsh so far.

Welsh is exactly the kind of central defender we were needing and has been performing well. Even without Slattery and Just, the midfield was excellent again, and Watt edged it again for me. Will be interesting to see what JBA does next week without Welsh. Start Koutroumbis and play him or SOD out of position, or start with Balmer.
-
Went for O'Donnell as I just can't get over his improvement so far this season. I was desperate for him to leave the last two summers, but what do I know?
-
It' also takes a lot of composure and skill to chip from that area. When he did shoot us was way off target.
-
I went with Watt, he is integral to the style we are playing. Welsh, O'Donnell and Ward all worthy of mention.

Brilliant 3 points , deserved the win overall Must admit with about 10 minutes to go I thought another draw . Better late than never It would had been very frustrating after all our hard work and effort this season to have no wins from 6 league games , confident we will get another win very soon
-
I still think he had 2 chances to lob/chip Ward and one chance to set his mate up but I agree Welsh done very well to distract amd stop him
-
Well done to all the players and manager. Ap got assist and goal. Took courage to take that pen after missing the chances. He also got assist for first goal. Hope he now builds on that. Watt great again. Callum ward also good and now has another clean sheet. Played some great football.

Watt ran the game.
-
Correct, spot on.

The kind of match where you needed a howler and a penalty to see a goal! First half Aberdeen should have scored in the first minute and later had one cleared off the line. We looked fine up to the last third were we just couldn't create anything. Second half we looked to have a bit more edge, up to a point anyway, as we missed a couple of sitters and should have done better on a couple of other occasions. Aberdeen didn't really trouble us much but there were a couple of sloppy moments at the back that could and maybe should have cost us. Overall the game could have gone either way but I thought we edged it with our 2nd half performance. I'd like to see the stats for that match cos I think it's entirely possible Callum Ward had more touches and played more passes than any other player.
