Similar to you . Getting top 6 every other year with the occasional euro spot and or cup run point is that was us but has become less us in the last 10ish years . i think we need stability of leadership and move away from the merry go round of players . Add to that more focus on youth

The problem with the McCall years, for all they were great, was that those teams cost us a lot of money. We had our highest league finishes in the modern era, but U believe we lost money due to the wages were paying particularly in squad bonuses. Ultimately for a fan owned club, thats not sustainable. I still think we can aim to do better than 8th but we need to spend our money more wisely. We have wasted a helluva lot of cash in the last 5 years on players that havent contributed. If we get smarter in the transfer market and run a smaller squad but with everyone staying fit and contributing, top 6 is still an achievable aspiration. Just look at St Mirren.......

There's surely a benefit to not being relegated - not trying to be facetious here but if we went down for a club our size there's no guarantee that we would come straight back up. I also don't think we are regressing. It's fine margins. The league is tight and we've just missed out on a couple of occasions. Some people have said that the quality of players in previous years has been much better - but as someone pointed out the other day - even when we did have quality players -we ended up in a play off We are maybe stagnating. But I don't think we are regressing

In all honesty where do you see a club of our size in terms of fanbase and financial means progressing to as a club? The ugly sisters, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and probably Dundee untd are all much bigger clubs than us by those terms, so finishing 6th or 7th may be our level. For me staying in the premiership by aiming for a top 6 finish and a possible shot at a Euro place, and a few decent cup runs would make for a decent season, anything above that is a bonus.

It was the official Facebook page but to be fair - there are a lot of posts on there and it's easy to miss something - but there were folk calling for Wimmer to go on Saturday and to bring Naismith in - or Arnott - which baffled me a bit as he's never managed a club. The comment was that he was out of his depth and someone who knows the Scottish game should be brought in Anyway. In Wimmer we trust

Agreed , we're regressing towards our average position which isn't catastrophic. It's a shame though that we've gone from having a 50% success of getting top 6 to the more recent 33% success rate. Ideal outcome is something like Wimmer sticks around for 3+ years (akin to Butcher/McCall/Robinson) build strength and continuity.

In the 12 team Scottish Premiership, our average position has been 7th. So if we're regressing, it's towards the mean and been a pretty average season this year. (In the 10 team SPL our average finish was 6th, so not much difference there other than 2 relegations).

Yeah 14 wins & 50 points is about the most we've managed in the last 10 seasons. Feels like a lifetime ago that Mcall led us to 70 points. This is where I feel it's legit to challenge the club on its overall trajectory. Avoiding relegation seems to be the aim, being top flight for +40 years isn't showing any long term benefit. The data is quite telling . We've made top 6 on Ten Occasions since the current 12 team format.
