Aye I was thinking more along the lines of Darren Randolph, Shaun Hutchison, Lionel Ainsworth etc etc
-
This is why I think Just is much harder to replace than Watt. While Just catches the eye as an attacking mid who can score as well, his defensive mid qualities were just as good or better. His work rate, closing down and pressing players, winning tackles and making interceptions made him like getting 2 Players in one. However, If Hodge turns out to be as good as suggested he should still be a great signing for us.
-
Even if we don’t get past HJK it would be good to let Fadinger and/or Priestman get at least a partial rest.
-
Crazy to think that "retired former player" could easily be Jon Obika. The likes of Arnott, Philliben, Martin etc are all well past the age of being able to take part I'd imagine.
-
62. And wee Dougie Arnott is 65.
-
He will be an old fella now...
-
Big Philliben must be first on list, he was awesome in the tournament with hardest shot about

Stenhousemuir v Motherwell 16/08/2026🏆SLC

Maybe not a stick on, but Id certainly expect some extended minutes, especially if we are successful against Helsinki and have Freiburg the following Thursday. We will definitely need to rotate a little and keep legs fresh. Hopefully Hodge can also start as we cant keep asking Fadinger and Priestmann to play every minute. Rotating one of them out to start for continuity and then swapping at half time would make sense. -
So spoke to my neices boyfriend who is a Huddersfield Town fan. Hodge played 27 games for them season before last. He said, Hodge is a very good player, quick on his feet. Very good defensive midfielder in the "Kante style". So the comparisons with Wee Al, are right enough! 😉😉😉

Oh absolutely! If we dont have any academy graduates in that position, stealing one from Airdrie would not only be great craic, but a wise move. Would still like a more "oven ready" striker as well though. We could have "oven ready", Eythor and youth stiker vying for the central role and covering each other. Stama can be loaned back to A League to see out his contract and JT can play wide in his favoured pisition until someone re-ignites interest in him.
-
I assume so because it Seems like the ideal opportunity to get him some game time minutes. I’m not AJ so he might see it differently.
-
Why do you assume that? Just because he did well at Stenny on loan is no guarantee that AJ will have him in the team. Games like this are no place to meddle with the team set up, try out fringe players etc, strongest possible 1st pick team at all times.
-
So...from our recent past, what be ideal 10man squad for this
-
Hodge seems a good signing who should improve the team, with time still before the window closes I’m sure another couple of bodies will be added in areas where we’re short.
-
I’m assuming Whyte is a stick on to start this game. Will be nice to get a good look at him.
-
Just seen the highlights, what a finish! Can't even remember him leaving the centre circle when he was with us.
-
He always strikes me as someone who spends as little time as possible talking to reporters. Although I did enjoy googling for any quotes and coming across the endless chat about him moving to Rangers as recently as June.
-
Not to feel forgotten about or under appreciated but has Eli made any statements since joining Swansea? we normally get a “thanks to the fans/club “etc etc when players leave eg miller, Slattery, Ward, watt….. but I’ve not seen or heard a peep from Eli? maybe I have and didn’t notice but I do always look out for what players say when the move on. Especially a player who’s career was going nowhere until joining us.
-
No idea if we're light up top or not, but our recruitment hasn't been averse to poaching good youngsters over the years in much the same way ours are poached.
-
I totally understand why they can't have a "current players" tourney - but that's what made the original so good. Legends/Masters/Fat-Blokes-that-played-for-you-5-times can be entertaining, but not to the same level.
-
Why not bring him in if hes a good prospect, he presumably wont cost that much and give him a chance to prove himself, nothing ventured nothing gained. Anything would be an improvement on AP, Hendry or Bjorgolfsson.
-
Guaranteed it will be all "legends" especially those connected to the uglies as there is zero chance clubs will be allowing current players unless its academy talent to play. The subsequent team line ups will then only appeal to the old gits like me. The product has had its day and i cant see it appealing to todays football audience.

If we can get a goal scorer I think we can do very well this year. Don’t care if he is a number 9 or what style he plays, as Long as he can score goals frequently, that’ll do me. If we get another goal scorer then it might also help JT score more goals as defenses will need to focus on more than just JT.

No chance of that for fear of injuries. Especially us. I miss that tournament it was good fun.
