Indirectly related to last night's game. I was driving up to Flemington behind a small hatchback with the registration WEIIFAN Thats class.

I know I'm late to the party, but I'll try to offer some different comments on last night's win. I agree with many comments that we were a great watch, and notched up a fine win, so won't repeat them. Its great to see so many of the new lads score their first goals for the club. That will help them settle. For me, Hodge and especially Lowrie were the pick of the bunch. We're also scoring some really nice goals. Compared to Jensball, I think AJ is encouraging the players to shoot more and its exciting to see the ball hit the net with these efforts. It was a forgone conclusion that United would appeal the Agyei red card. However, Lee Sharp's comment post match were revealing - basically he never saw it (despite sitting/standing only a few metres away). Usually in these circumstances, a manager says something like "The lads said it wasn't a bad tackle" or words to that effect. To compound matters, Agyei then booted the ball at the POD in anger. No doubt he'll be hauled over the coals for that - remember Terry Butcher being sanctioned for kicking a water bottle at Livingston? As for us another clean sheet! However I was a bit concerned again at another team, United this time, exposing us down the wings. Fortunately, they weren't capable of causing any damage. Better teams might. I don't know whether this is down to individual's positioning or AJ's instructions. Also we seem to be concentrating our efforts on playing down the right. All too often Manny Longelo was all on his own on the left, but being ignored. It was clearly frustrating him. Presumably that's down to instructions - I hope its the Darren Jackson syndrome. Anyway in the great scheme of things not huge issues. Anyway, a thoroughly enjoyable night in front of another healthy crowd. We really do seem to have built a deep and quality squad now.

Ill give you white and Blyth, they were brutal but not Bowman and Main, Stamas league goals mainly penalties. Main and especially Ryan elbows Bowman put themselves about, knew where the goals were and generally read the game well. Stama was never where he should have been, his reading of the game was shocking always reacting and never anticipating so he was never able to make the most of any potential chances. He arrived and was full of promise, scored a few pens but never kicked on, after his 1st child was born he was not interested always injured and generally looked like he never wanted to be in the shire. He was never the standard we needed and never would be, sent back to Sydney on loan and even they did not want him. So releasing him was the only sensible option.

He was better than Jordan White and Jacob Blyth and scored more league goals than Ryan Bowman or Curtis Main. He certainly didn't make the transition the way we'd hoped, but not the worst we've had by any means. I have no problems keeping through the summer to see what Alfred made of him.

Lets be honest he is brutal and is never going to get any game time going forward, nobody is going to make a bid for him, so it makes sense to cut your losses and agree a deal re his contract to release him and free up a wage, it should have been done at the end of last season.

I highly doubt we'd let Stama go on a free we paid a big fee for our standards for him. If the bid we allegedly turned down for him last summer was real it was a really bad decision to have rejected it. Worse comes to worse he stays as a 3rd choice ST. We need to get Mikey Booth out on a co-op loan so his development doesn't stall as well but he'd still be available to us if we get injury problems same with Wilson and Ross to be honest

How do you know they were ST holders, they pay their money the same as you and as such are entitled to their own opinions, if its different from yours, so what. Calling somebody willie Wonka is disgraceful now, aye ok then. Disgraceful behaviour is setting off pyros and going on the pitch, when repeatedly being told not to, so wind your neck in.

Perhaps we agreed a once and for all pay off that totals less than what he would have earned under contract. Which in turn lets him head home free to sign on with anyone he can agree a deal with. Saves us money long term and gives him a chance to rebuild his career. I imagine he will be keen to get back playing rather than being paid to sit on his backside as his career stalls even more. Australian window open ahead of season start but in any event he can sign with anyone, anywhere as a free agent. Increases his options. Hence the timing? Win win? And common sense. If he is really away that is.

Willy has yet to convince me but I will wait till January or so to make any firm decision on him. He had his hands on his knees after 10 minutes as if he had run his race. However, twice he had the ball in the box trying to fashion a shot and big Thor tackled him both times. A wee goal might change everything for him.

I assume then, that we'll continue to pay his wages until his contract expires, unless he finds another club in Oz. Only difference now is that he'll be in Australia and not available for selection?

I think we have selection headaches now, which is good, Whyte would have to be better than Lennon Miller to get into the midfield ahead of Hodge,Fadinger,Priestman

Agreed...it will be like a mini preseason. With the opportunity for the manager to work with the squad properly as well as getting a bit of recuperation

Absolutely. Early days of course, but this defintely Alfred Johansson's team. Not JBA's. He's had a baptism of fire, with departures of top players; signing a squad of new ones; a long injury list; and a demanding Conference League schedule. Many fans, especially younger ones, felt that JBA was irreplaceable. He isn't, no-one is.

He definitely signed a new contract. The issue is had he stayed with us who would he replace in the team. How much gametime would he get?
