Keeper worries me a wee bit, times looks solid, other times a bit shaky. That one he spilled 2nd half was brutal
-
Iv had a worry in the two matches about the differences as well. What i would say is that there was a period early 2nd half lastnight where it looked to have clicked & we were really zipping the ball about. Hopefully its the start of the development. No reason to panic yet & once we have three or four league games under our belts we will have a better idea of where we are

Longelo on the left,TJ on the right and get a decent man for the middle we might have an outstanding season.
-
I wasnt saying that after first 20 mins but he came onto a game and took his goal well. I think Longelo and Williams could be a great double act on the left

Havnar Bóltfelag vs Motherwell (30/7) Discussion
Great Balls of Shire replied to David's topic in Club Chat
I dont think Just and Said were on board at this point last year so theres no real comparison. -
Not at all, just comparing my feelings at the end of the LC stage last year to effectively the same time this year. just my view, everyone has one 👍
-
I’d rip your arm off for a draw right now. Be delighted to start with a point at Easter road.
-
Are you comparing the team this year and the team last last year after just two competitive games or from half way thru the season. Jumping to conclusions a bit there. As some were saying we would be doing well to sneak past HB by the odd goal 🤔
-
Did you not have a feeling last year something was good? I know I did and the guys I go to the game did. It felt as if something exciting was happening. Even with the occasional lapses in the LC games there’s was something there. I don’t get that this year…. I hope I am wrong as I do like Alfred and I do think a couple of the signings, Moorman, Reich and Williams look decent. time will tell and it’s probably not right to doubt anything until half a dozen games in. I’ll just hope for the best.

Apologies, just noticed that there has already been a thread started way down the page. Feel free to merge or whatever needs to be done. No offence intended.

So the league season starts with a difficult away game in the capital. Having watched some of Hibs game last night, its hard to know exactly where we are compared to them in the squad building / preparation stakes. They seem to have signed a load of players and looked decent going forward, but they did seem a bit ropey at the back against a team that, with all respect, didnt look that great. Martin Boyle still looks fit enough to cause us problems, Josh Mulligan is a good player and the big fella Lowe up front looks a handful, but overall, they still seem like less than the sum of their parts. Happily take a good performance and a draw and move onto Helsinki.
-
At this stage last season we never knew how good we would be either, so its not a fair comparison, but that said having lost the engine room of the team, in Slattery, Watt and especially Just we are weaker. Hibs will be a big test, and if we avoid defeat i will be happy.
-
I forgot to add that we are also receiving a contributory grant from the SFA for the development.

I thought our experienced bods from last year pulled us through both games, Priestman, Fadinger, Sparrow, Said I felt have been our top performers. RCC has done ok as well but can be a bit frustrating. we are definitely short of 3 or 4 players and I think the Hibs game could be a struggle. An advantage could be the opposition still thinking we are exactly the same as last season (seen loads of posts from loads of other club fans suggesting this) so hopefully Hibs might give us too much respect and sit off us. We are nowhere near even half the level of last season I’m afraid…. At the moment anyway. If we can pick up a draw on Saturday I’d be delighted

Totally agree re fans support and expenses outlay, nothing but huge praise for them,it was a personal thing, maybe a tad feeling sorry for them with their slighty empty stadium and their players that also hold down other jobs,it was just a personal that i felt and conveyed.

Depends somewhat on who is fit and available for the next two games, but 40 -60 seems a decent guess. Worst case, we get revenue from a big crowd and 6 or 700k consolation prize if we lose.

HB are ranked 215th in Europe. HJK are ranked 153rd in Europe. Hearts are ranked 138th in Europe. I think that gives you an idea of what we are up against. HJK will be favourites over two legs but the tie is winnable for us. What, maybe a 40-60 chance of getting through?

The training facility plans were approved yesterday by North Lanarkshire Council, with a small number of routine conditions and notes attached e.g. unrecorded mine workings; tree preservation etc. The application, for which permission lasts for 3 years, did not require to go before the Planning Committee, due to its straightforward nature and small number of representations, which were all addressed satisfactorily.
