  1. Well, that's the end of a week where the standard of professionalism at Motherwell Football Club fell to perhaps an all time low. When managers are picking and choosing what matches to compete in something is very, very badly wrong at the club. I said at the time it was a deplorable decision. Firstly we effectively given up a match where there was three points to be won. Never mind that getting them was unlikely, they should been competed for but weren't. But then, secondly, for the team to be rested to put in that performance told you everything. The style of play is an affront to top level football. It's atrocious. It's never been worse, never, in 40 years of watching this club. The standard of player is a disgrace. Don't even have the most rudimentary footballing skills. But forget using a football, they don't even have an ability to organise themselves, to run off the ball, to help team mates or even show any pride in themselves. We punt it and we give away fouls. That's what we do. That's what 2 years of Robinson's coaching has done to us. Punt and foul. The manager proved himself an idiot this week. And the players proved that not only are they not footballers, that they shouldn't be picking up wages on false pretenses, they proved that they don't even care that much. Not one iota was given this afternoon until it was far too late. Not one! Same old faces, failing time and time again. They need kicked out of the club. And you know what the worst thing about today was? It was oh so predictable. We are truly woeful. You know how bad? Barraclough's team would murder that lot. Someone, somewhere, has to come into this club and introduce some professional standards. The club right now is a disgrace.

  2. I’ve watched motherwell for almost 50 years and I’ve seen so many dross games in my time but that today. Jesus help us. Two appalling non football teams on show, on the occasion the ball was on the deck it was inevitably Turnbull who was responsible but being surrounded by hoof ball specialists put pay to any form of decent entertainment. Having 5 players up front at the end was just an embarrassing example of football in this country, totally devoid of any tactical nouse or skill, utter desperation from a dinosaur manager. Even when we were truly shite in the 80s we at least tried to get the ball down and play. I paid £29 for that today at a time of year I can ill afford to pay£29. I won’t be doing that again in a hurry, Appalling excuse for football!!

  3. Another poor analogy. You’re a holocaust of a person. She put us in the poor house & didn’t fancy the rebuild.

  4. Not sure about all the talk of throwing the game at Parkhead. We could have played our first choice team, whatever that is, and would still have got well beaten. Surely the performance today proves that point beyond all reason?

  5. Please just give up posting, if that's the level you are at , what a load of utter shite. But I suspect you just enjoy trolling now so you probably can't help it.

  6. Sorry but up until today was prepared to give him benefit of the doubt BUT how can anyone explain those substitutions today ……… the back 3 were doing fine and never at any time look under pressure The obvious problem was the midfield where Grimshaw was a waste of a jersey McHugh couldn’t pass water and for god sake please please get Tait back to right hand side where he belongs And as for Main he canny even foul people properly and couldn’t score in a barrel of F****y’s So we end up with 4 forwards on ( 3 of whose 1st touch is a pass) and no one to get the ball to them Im afraid I think he has lost the plot and it’s tie for him to GO and GO now

  7. This is what happens when you run down a Scottish Premiership team to a English non league team. You are who you play.

  8. 18 months with no width. No left back. Guys who cannot control or pass the ball. That was terrible today but it's the same shite we have been served up since Robinson arrived. If Burrows has any bottle at all he will bin him tonight, there is zero point in persevering with the same dire tactics every single week. How long are we meant to watch this for?

  9. Every now and then we get a decent result, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, drawing with the old firm at home, but its mostly rubbish we’re playing. We’ve basically signed a lot of duds and we’re paying for it. I think our whole business plan needs to be looked at , what do you reckon the ratio is ,good signing for bad signing....1/10 ?

  10. Not a knee-jerk reaction and I don't give a rat's arse who it upsets but Motherwell need to get rid of this manager as soon as possible. Started a home game with 6 defenders against a team that's only scored 6 goals in 8 away games. F*cking disgrace.

  11. Danny Johnson is one of the few in this squad I'd keep and Moult is one of my favourite ever players. There might well be talent in lower and non league football in England but our strategy of hoovering up 3 quarters of a squad from that level of football and then crossing our fingers and hoping one or two of them might be good enough to sell on while the team toils and the standards on display collapses ever downwards....that's not a strategy I can get behind. We have decent goalkeepers, one outfield player who can control a ball and two who might score and the rest are a waste of time. Otherwise the squad is dire. There has never been less talent. Even the team that went into the play offs a couple of seasons ago had Scott McDonald, Marvin Johnson, Lionel Ainsworth, Iain Vigurs, Lee Erwin, Henrik Ojamaa, Conor Grant, Stephen Pearson. Now some of those players might have been highly inconsistent, huffy, lazy, inexperienced or have other faults but at least they had some footballing ability. Every single one of those players is better than 95% of our present squad. There is virtually no technical or footballing ability in that squad of 20+ players. The club has been run down over 5 years or so and we are now reaching a critical mass in terms of lack of talent.

  12. Just a note on Burrows today. The netting’s behind the goal mentioned can’t come soon enough for that period before kick off when the players are practicing shooting. Again today one kid hit in the face and an older guy hit by the ball while going up the steps with pies. The pies fly in all directions and within five minutes Burrows comes round into the stand, finds the old guy, then goes down into the stand to the catering section and brings him replacements. Can’t think of another chief exec that would have seen and done that.

  13. Mate what bit you not grasping the manager signs the players picks the team and lays down the tactics and you think sacking him won't make a difference .We get a manager in who has an eye for a player and can set out a game plan ,he is probably a lovely guy Robinson as a football manager he is hopeless

  14. Today’s performance wasn’t too different from umpteen games under Robinson. The context of the game was slightly different however. When you opt to throw a game at Parkhead by resting 5 players, there is no hiding place for the manager when we produce a subsequent performance that lacks energy, creativity and tactical awareness. I wonder how the Board and Burrows view the current situation. While the signed up to eye bleeding football when they offered him a long term contract, surely an inflated squad of journeymen doesn’t sit well with our supposed self-sufficient model.

  15. Robinson will quit before he is fired, whenever that is. He’s nowhere near as bad as a lot of people think he is, and the club have a far higher opinion of him than most of us. It also costs money to fire managers. On one hand he is meeting the remit he was given (exceeded by some margin last year) under pretty tight constraints. On the other we can stay in 10th until the last game of the season then get relegated. So we need to be careful to spot the difference between inconsistency and freefall. So far we’ve been able to pull out results when things look bleak, and my guess is the board will gamble on that, pretty much the way that Hamilton have stuck with their guy for so long. And despite the “who cares who comes in, anyone’s better than him” attitude from those who have never let go of the disappointment of us taking him instead of a more sexy option, if the club makes the decision to fire him they better have a good option lined up. We all know that’s probably Lasley anyway, and I don’t know what that changes. The new manager would have the same restrictions as Robinson with recruitment, because it costs money to get rid of players and we know that it will be on a one out for one in basis if that happens. As with most managers, his recruitment has been a mixed bag. I think Carson, Gillespie, kipre, dunne, Hartley and Aldred have all been good. Tanner probably fits in that category, but we all seem to forget he was barely starting before his injury. His ability to sign a left back or a striker seems to be non existent though. My main frustration with our recruitment is probably more the fault of the club than the manager, and that’s our refusal to recruit Scottish players and our fascination with the English lower leagues. Overall, in the context of this season, I don’t see sacking him as something that makes a big difference, other than cheering up those who just don’t like him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. It won’t be exciting for sure but if the board have said the objective is to retain premiership status and then try and move forward when the debt is paid off it’s correct. If it’s improve every year while playing attractive football he’s failing.

  19. As I said at half time the only quality in the game came from Turnbull. Should be mentored through games but actually he's by a mile our best player. It's not even close.

  20. He needs to go now. That is completely unacceptable today.

  21. If you don't know the difference between a conscious decision to rotate, and "not knowing what our best starting 11 is" then it's a pointless discussion. Robinson was very clear last season that mistakes were made with his selections around cup games and when we played Celtic 3 times in a week. He was also very clear that last December, persisting with injured first team starters was a failure, and not having the backups of the necessary quality (and readiness) was another key failing. But don't let all that insight interfere with your spreadsheet.
