  1. I think the low crowd was down to the poor performances at home over the last few months. Apart from the absolutely freezing St Johnstone second half it's been grim at home since September. There's not been much to keep the casual fan interested and they stayed at home today. We showed our good side and bad side today. Started well and got a goal through pressure. Fell out the game, couldn't pass the ball for 25 minutes but stayed alive through sheer bravery and commitment in our own 18 yard box. Then worked our way back in by winning 50/50s by superior fitness and scored a jammy/amazing goal. I'm delighted for Carl McHugh. He's had a difficult season but he's constantly battling for the ball and putting his body on the line. I think he has took a lot of the blame for the our shitfesting style of play, he's a centrehalf playing in midfield and the amount of challenges he contests and wins makes him well worth a start.

  2. By my reckoning, we went into this season having lost 10/10 cup games against top flight opposition since the final in 2011. To win 6 this season is incredible. Huge credit to Robinson for turning the mentality of the club around.

  3. Very happy with the performance. We were the better side.......just. Our "first goal" was scored by Tanner from the corner. When the Hearts' keeper got a foot to the ball it was just over the line but I'm not confident the referee would have awarded it given the mood he was in. Not an OG nor down to Main, who made sure. We bossed the first half but lacked a killer touch in the penalty box. Hearts changed things around and it worked for them. Kipre gave away a silly penalty and the Jambos then overran our midfield but fortunately couldn't score a second. We defended deeper and deeper and narrower and narrower. However we got a second wind in the final 10 minutes and McHugh scored with a volley fit to win any game. A good team performance and I liked Carson, who made a crucial save, Dunne, McHugh for his winner, Campbell and Main for battling hard against big uncompromising defenders. Robbo and Keef deserve great credit for masterminding our win and we now have another Hampden day to look forward to. I thought the referee was atrocious and let Hearts players off with murder yet booked our lads without hesitation. Inconsistency at its worst. i would also say his chalking off of Cadden's "goal" was touch and. had he allowed it there would have been no protest from Hearts players and that says it all. A great all round team performance with character.

  4. 'I don't need you to tell me to calm down.' Haha. Usually said exclusively by people who do need to be told to calm down.

  5. McHugh started that whole move by blocking a hoofed clearance with his face. He was probably concussed again when he hit the shot. As the old joke has it, "Send him back out and tell him he's Pele."

  6. Bowman's reaction of total disbelief at what he's just seen. Brilliant!

  7. I still cant get out where I live with the car so that’s another two down who would have been there. The combination of factors was a one off today, it’s very unlikely we would see that again so can we just not concentrate on the great result and another semi at Hampden ?

  8. Quite a day! I know Robinson was referring to McHugh when he made his remark about it being the stuff dreams are made of, but hey let's be honest was that finale not the kind of thing you sit and while a moment or two away daydreaming about when the situation allows? It was a terrific first half throughout which we were well on top. I can't say I felt that any apprehension that we were only one goal up, although the failure of McHugh to shoot, or put through one of his team-mates did appear an opportunity lost. From what I've read and heard by the letter of the law it would appear Dallas has been correct to disallow Cadden's goal. Clearly immense credit is due for the way he came to his decision in the blink of an eye. Despite having plenty more time to aid his decision making however he was well off the mark with several other of his calls. It seemed incomprehensible for example that yellow cards were being issued instantly to those in claret and amber whilst their opponents appeared to enjoy the luxury of being able to foul, be spoken to, foul a bit more and still avoid action. Second half was altogether more tricky and the tie did seem to be slipping away from us for a time. Again by all accounts it would appear that Dallas got the penalty correct. I am absolutely convinced however that by fair means or fouls Naismith was hitting the deck in the box no matter what kind of challenge Kipre made. Carson making his weekly jaw-dropper seemed to change the momentum slightly. I don't know if you could say it was a wake up call or whether down to the tweak in formation but at the very least we were giving as good as we were getting. It was a fitting way to win any Cup tie and I'm pleased for McHugh. He has been much like himself since the turn of the year in particular and even goal apart he did very well in putting in such a comitted and disciplined performance despite being booked so early. A bit different to how we won our Quarter Final earlier in the season, nowhere as emphatic but still a game that will live equally long in the memory.

  9. Agreed Manager played a blinder...we were under the cosh but then switching Tait into a back 4 plus Bowman on, then a positive attacking change with Frear coming on late. Great we have players like Tait and Cadden versatile enough to handle that Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

  12. This is why I support Motherwell and why I want my six year old to continue the tradition. Great performance from the lads, character in spades and what a strike by McHugh, straight off the shinty pitch! Great moment near the end as well when main rag dolled about 4 hearts players. Hampden here we come!!

  13. Another game where under a different manager and set of players we would have folded like a deck of cards. Well done the manager and players - bravo

  15. What I find hard to understand is the mentality that fans are happy to shell out for a season ticket to watch games in a competition that we have as much chance of winning as hell freezing over - yet fail to turn up to a game in one of the only two competitions where we actually have a chance. This is noticeable not only here but in Englandurshire as well - strange one!!

  16. Having Carson in goals is a very solid foundation, went for him. Campbell, Dunne good too, and no sub par performances from anyone

  17. So you fail to see the irony in your comment, that more than 50% of the crowd travelled from outside Lanarkshire . I will enjoy the moment, but our support was pathetic whatever way you spin it.

  18. The only thing that gets our fans more riled up that not being able to sit in a different seat from their ticket number is when other fans don't go a game that they did. We won. Settle down. If you were there, well done. Enjoy the victory instead of wasting your energy slagging off other fans that support the same team as you.

  19. Everyone will have their own reasons obviously but personally, I spent 2hrs digging my car out and by the time I was finished thought "forget it", and went back in the house.

  20. Great team display toughed out the second half dominated the first. But something has to be done about the abismal standard of scottish refs. So inconsistant its incredable, everyone of them.

  21. I expect the TV option made it an easier decision for folks whose travel was a bit dodgy. Yesterday the papers were full of "most trains cancelled" type warnings. Glad we managed to get the game on at all. Kudos to everyone with a shovel the past couple of days.

  22. Absolutely great finish. Again, moments like that put a shine on or season, glad I was there to see it. As for the Motherwell attendance...I have never been as disappointed.
