  1. Oliver Burke was hung at Leith docks for stealing cadavers from Edinburgh graveyards. Lyndon Dykes was the first person to cross the Sahara in a T Model Ford in 1913. Lawrence Shankland runs a successful Edinburgh based solicitors firm. Oli McBurnie is a cheeky schoolboy pantomime character that is shoe horned into every Christmas production at the Kings theatre and is played by Gary Hollywood.

  2. He's had free headers from corners on the 6 yard line in each of the past two matches and missed the target both times. The guy is a carthorse and if we persist with him we will be relegated. Neither him or Seedorf would get a start for Accies, Livi or St Mirren.

  3. I think that tonight's result for Celtic should give David Turnbull something to think about career wise. A lot has happened since he was poised to join Celtic a year ago. I think it was a move that made enough sense then, but probably makes less sense now. He will have seen how quickly circumstances can change both personally and indeed globally. He is a year older but doesn't have many more footballing miles on the clock He is still a prodigious talent and has pretty much proven that he has come back from his injury and is fit enough to have a full and exciting career. The question is, what are his ambitions and what are the best way to achieve them. Any move to Celtic will undoubtedly involve a four or five year deal. Does the idea of several seasons playing against the same standard of opposition as he currently does for us really appeal? Yes, he will be on better money, yes he will probably pick up a bag full of medals, yes he will probably be fast tracked into the international side ( not sure if this is ultimately a great thing these days) but the idea of glamorous European nights is a bit of a myth and the advantage of staying close to home has to be balanced with the pressure that the doldfish bowl of playing for the old firm entails. I hope he considers his options carefully because he is both a genuine talent and he seems to have behaved very well throughout this saga. As for us, I am resigned to life without him in our ranks and just hope we get a decent price for him and do not squander it as we try and rebuild our season.

  4. Celtic really struggle with foreign refs. Hopefully we can play better without the ball on Sunday than we have managed with it so far this season.

  5. Only one thing on sale before the European tie seems to be David Turnbull

  6. That was nice that the billyboy was able to point it out for us.

  7. Our strikers haven't excelled so far but the service they have received has been abysmal. This isn't the time to judge them. If service to them improves and they still don't deliver then they will deserve criticism.

  8. In the last five seasons previous to this one.... Tony Watt 122 matches 16 goals (1 every 8 games) Chris Long 126 matches 23 goals (1 every 5 games) Jordan White 199 matches 49 goals (1 every 4 games, although at Scottish Championship or English National League level) Jordan White scored 10 in a season for Livingston in the Championship five years ago and that's the only time any of them got into double figures for league goals. I don't think anyone should be surprised we haven't got a goal out a striker, they don't have a track record. I also thought the circumstances around the signing of Watt and Long were odd, given the circumstances, ie, Watt having flopped at Hearts and St Johnstone in quick succession, and the whole Long summer saga as well as underwhelming performances last season and the fact that it's obvious he's not the type of player for our system.

  12. With Lennon and McGregor openly talking about Turnbull in the media, you’d expect this to be signed and sealed in the next day or so. Good luck to him, he’s head and shoulders above anyone Motherwell have produced in my lifetime, McFadden included. And credit to him for signing a contract extension on two occasions to ensure we are financially rewarded for his development. His style of play with fit well at Celtic and all going well, he’ll win a few medals and move to a bigger league in a couple of years, netting Motherwell another few million (assuming sell-on clause). I look forward to seeing him in a Scotland jersey.

  13. And the one that you've put a sweary word between his 1st and 2nd names is the best of the bunch by a distance

  14. Couldn't agree more. DT has signed contracts twice over the last 18 months that has allowed us to maximise the fee we receive. He could have let his contract run down in the same way that Hastie did but chose to sign a new deal in January 2019. The extension last season also means he still has a couple of years on his contract now. Wish he was going elsewhere but good luck to the lad.

  15. There are a number of English teams and at least one German team monitoring his situation closely Watch this space, Celtic will not have it all their own way

  16. If David Turnbull is still a Motherwell player on Thursday then he should play against Glentoran. Winning that game and securing the extra cash that would come from making the next round has to be our priority. As for how the club acts in order to counter the current apathy in our support, how about showing a little backbone and putting the interests of our club first? Rather than bending over backwards to accommodate the best interests of a competitor who will no doubt be making a bid which, in the current market, is unlikely to be close to his real value.
