Wee bit unfair on Shields. Since he arrived he’s been asked to play out wide but he’s really a centre-forward. Maybe we should play two up and try pairing him through the middle with Van Veen.

Just took grizzlyg word for it but off top of my head. His shot off bar rebounded to van veen at aberdeen. His shot won penalty at St mirren. And his pass v killie. Thats 3 in my book and I wouldn't consider myself a fan boy unfortunately .

Good point grizzly , spittals stats suggested this would be the case I felt and I'm glad it is. I also felt some on here were talking him down for no apparent reason other than ignorance of his stats and ability. Aarons is a big risk due to his lack of gametime certainly but my hope is he can produce what he done in 2nd half of st mirren 4-4 Cup replay when he was outstanding and created umpteen chances and scored. That's my recollection of him as well as untied boots which does my head in for some reason.

I mean, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do this time around as much as anyone, but in that clip he basically stands still, then hits a pass that everyone missed.

Shields beat his man when he set up the goal at Aberdeen. The biggest issue with him, however, is that we have players in the team that want to launch in high balls to him instead of playing it on the deck behind the defence where he can run on to them. He's much faster than most Premiership defenders.

Obviously the Scottish Cup is the more prestigious one but I would take a league cup win any day. Exactly, our only chance of silverware is one of the cup's. 31 years far too long without a trophy, almost every other top division team has won a trophy since then

I can’t agree with that. I don’t have them to hand but Shields’ assist and goal stats are very poor. He’s just not good enough for our level. If we can keep Aarons fit and get some actual service into the middle then KVV will thrive off of it.

I think we’ll get beat.
