I thought Motherwell were fantastic tonight. Really, really unlucky in key moments of the game but the travesty of the penalty aside, it is equally a travesty if we as Motherwell fans cannot appreciate that performance tonight That team did not bottle it tonight. They were the better side in almost every aspect of the game and but for two moments of real quality from Maeda and Nygren they would have won the match.10 points

I just wish people would stop all this pish about Watt going to Rangers and Just and the manager going to Celtic. The two players are under contract, and if they go anywhere, it's because the price is right for MFC. Let's just wait and see what the outcome is. Whatever way it's got to suit Motherwell.8 points

Absolutely rotten post. The guys have done their all in the last two games and played their hearts out (pardon the pun) against two teams going for the title. This isn't a Motherwell 0-4 in previous seasons in similar circumstances. Woeful post.7 points

I’m a bit surprised by some of the negative posts. Yes, we have faltered a bit down the home Stretch but we have managed to create a team that plays good football, has been able to go toe to toe with any team in the league amd with a wee bit of luck could have been in an even higher position. I’m disappointed too but I think phrases like “this is not good enough” is a bit over the top. So much has been fixed from previous seasons and there is still plenty room for improvement but I’d rather have seasons like this than the ones we’ve been subjected too for the last umpteen years. no reason we can’t keep our 4th position.6 points

Don't panic guys. Spoke with Dougie who confirmed it was a hoax call by someone he knows who is a bit of a practical joker and SSB fell for it hook line and sinker as has the Daily Record. Wouldn't like to be in his shoes when Dougie gets a. hold of him.6 points

Would love to finish the season with no old firm victories at Fir park this season. C’mon Motherwell let’s make this our best performance and result of the season!!!!5 points

There weren't meany streams available at the time for this game. The only one I was able to find was Celtic TV. The commentators were loving life when they were 1 - 0 up, distraught when Skippy scored the first and cut the mics when he scored the second. Glorious.4 points

Any walloper that sits in well end supporting sellik would get exposed if they score or have chances. I just worry my mates will tell stewards I am a sellik fan just to get me evicted and give them peace and quiet ! 🤪🤪4 points

Just has been targeted for a while now yet, despite looking like a frail teenager, he gets up and gets on with it, to his credit. The game today doesn't have a giant like "Tiny" Wharton who would have sorted out a team like Hearts who simply and cynically shared out the fouls on Elijah to stifle him yesterday. As Grumpy hints, I doubt this treatment would be tolerated if he played for either of the OF, just another hurdle a team like Motherwell have to cope with in the Scottish game. I'm going to go full Kevin Keegan now and say I would love it, really love it if we beat the Seat-Smashers on Wednesday, mainly because they seem to think both JBA and Just will inevitably end up at Celtic Park next year. Their sense of entitlement really gets on my nazzums.4 points

Any game we dont lose, we are outstanding, especially against the potential champions tonight, we were always trying to get forward and were in their faces, and looked threatening when we did, we defended very well, Ward never had a difficult save to make even when Hearts were pressing hard we looked solid. So all in all i think an outstanding performance is a fair assessment of how the game went4 points

In news that will surprise no-one, Kofi Balmer will be leaving to join Bristol Rovers on a permanent deal. Good luck to the lad. His impending departure also frees up a squad place.4 points

Why do you want a Falkirk win? As you say i hope we win, but i want Hearts to do do the same, then for the 1st time in 40 odd years neither of the ugly sisters are champions.3 points

I read a few Sevco fans already spouting their conspiracy theories last night that Motherwell were going to lie down to Celtic because of all the "Celtic connections" in our team and because JBA wants the Celtic job. Peak OF paranoia. You'd think if they were that worried they wouldn't have rolled over in today's game.3 points

Noticing a trend recently with opposition targeting Just for 'special' treatment. Were all three Hearts bookings for fouls on him?3 points

I’ve stripped your post down to the point I want to reply to as I agree with most of what you’ve said but on this point I’d like to give my view of what we could do. Tony Bloom at Hearts is showing that his model can potentially give him a return via a share of the money made from transfers and as such we should look for a similar type of investor willing to make a similar deal with us with preferably non voting shares like the Hearts deal - probably at a lesser level but still I’d be looking at circa £6M minimum for a maximum 20% shares coming not only from the society but also our private shareholders so between the society and private shareholders we still have 80% holding. A £6M investment matched by say £2 or £3M by the club would give a healthy pot for buying players over the next couple of seasons. With the clubs position on and off the park this is probably the best time to make such a deal. If no such deal is achievable at the moment then I think we should continue with the “organic growth “ that we are currently trying to achieve while continuing to look for a deal.3 points

Absolutely sickened by that score , corruption of the Highest level. But you won't hear me criticising as this team have given us everything this season Massive game on Saturday, one final push to get us over the line2 points

Nah, having neither of the ugly sisters as champions for the 1st time in the lives of a lot of fans of the other teams, depriving them of millions of pounds from the champions league, match ticket sales, advertising etc is the best thing that could happen to Scottish football. This season has given the other premiershop teams the belief that the unhealthy influence the uglies have on Scottish football can be broken. It was a four horse race up until the end of February, so long may it continue as it will do wonders for the game in Scotland. So as i said in January, if its not us winning the league i dont care who does as long as neither of the ugly sisters do, "Hearts, Hearts glorious Hearts" PS the goodwill towards the Jambos expires 1st game of next season.2 points

Thanks for reminding me about that. We were all scoffing in my area of the POD at his amazing recovery, that is until the VAR review was announced. I fully expected another convenient penalty to go against us, so hats off for once to the referee. Although anything is better than the OF winning the title, Hearts look like just a modern version of the team of excessive Levein/Hogg physicality and Robertson/Colquhoun "simulation".2 points

This is exactly my thoughts Us to win , and Hearts to win. Having neither club as champions would be great for Scottish Football2 points

I watched an old interview with Skippy recently, and you can see he was still annoyed about Celtic fans asking him why he scored and celebrated on Skippy Sunday. As he pointed out, he's a professional footballer playing for his team and his team mates (and his win bonus that paid for his summer holiday at that time). And went on to say the Celtic fans shouldn't have been asking him why he did his job, they should have been asking the Celtic players why they didn't do their's. The same goes for whoever finishes second this season. Should have done a better job.2 points

Funniest scenario would be if JBA gives Halliday a 3 minute "goodbye" cameo at the end of the match and he concedes a pen that leads to a Celtic win. The OF conspiracy nuts would be trying to work that one out until this time next year.2 points

He definitely has been targetted. The number of fouls committed on him in the last few games has been quite ridiculous. I know he is quick and often nips the ball away before his opponent, but they are all leaving the foot in to ensure they stop him breaking away. Thankfully he is young(ish) and quite hardy for a wee guy.2 points

Not all contact in football is a foul though. Kyziridis clearly threw himself to the ground and McInnes is an odious prick. The ref got that one right and clearly thought he went down too easily, so disagreed with VAR.2 points

I seen someone use the word ‘absorbing’ elsewhere and that perfectly describes last night for me. What a treat this season has been with the general quality and tempo of football, complemented by electric atmospheres. We may have been under par in possession last night and more broadly, getting a little unstuck with our no.9 options in the last two months, but we coped admirably well with a Hearts team that threw the kitchen sink at us. SoDs our motm by a distance and huge credit to Gordon for being so solid. It’s no coincidence though that we aren’t as effective on the ball with McGinn and Fadinger missing. One more memorable night at Fir Park required before we inevitably say farewell to key members of this very special group.2 points

SOD for me as well, but you better not use "outstanding" to describe the block to save a certain Goal, if seems to be a bad word on here tonight. 😂2 points

This will be the first game of the season that I won't be able to watch. Eight o'clock on a Saturday night is an absolute arse of a time to be playing a football match.2 points

Personally, I think there’s a middle ground here. I agree that “investment” is a word we need to be careful with. Motherwell simply isn’t the kind of club where someone comes in, puts money in, and gets a normal business return from profits. That’s just not how it works for clubs our size. The latest accounts show the club is in a reasonably solid position, but we’re not sitting on huge profits. So if an investor is coming in looking for dividends, control, security over assets, or some guaranteed route to make money, that’s where I’d be taking a long, hard look at their intentions. Where I do think there’s a difference is between bad investment and properly structured strategic investment. The Hearts/Bloom deal is interesting to me for that reason. Bloom put in something like £9.9m for just shy of 30%, but those are non-voting shares if I recall. Hearts/FoH also state that player trading revenue stays with the club, so it doesn’t look like he’s taking a direct cut of any transfers. His upside seems to be tied to the value and success of his stake, not stripping money out of transfer fees. When it comes to Motherwell, I’d be against selling control. Completely against it. But, I wouldn’t be against the right minority deal if it was properly protected. Something like: minority stake only fan control protected ideally non-voting shares no security over Fir Park no right to force asset sales no direct claim on transfer income clear exit terms clear limits on board influence money going into sustainable growth, not just short-term spending The above is very different from just handing the club over to someone. Hibs is probably a bit of a warning sign. Foley/Black Knight came in for 25% at £6m I think, but the relationship didn’t work out from what I read and the stake has now been bought back. That doesn’t prove outside investment is always a bad idea, but it does show that alignment is crucial. Money on its own isn’t enough if the investor’s model, timescale or expectations don’t fit the club. So I’d say organic growth should still be the base case. That’s the safest route, and we do seem to be in a better position now than we were during the car crash that was the Barmack discussion. But I also wouldn’t be shutting the door completely. If someone credible came in with capital, expertise, no demand for control, and a structure that protected the Society and the club, then I think we’d have to look at it seriously. The key for me is that we shouldn’t be looking for “an investor” in the generic sense. We should only be interested in a very specific type of potential partner. Basically, one who strengthens the club without owning the club. Which is hard to find.2 points

Ever since the Rangers home game when he was booed off the park for letting Rangers away with murder McLean has been at the heart of most decisions that have gone against us. Notably the cup tie at Aberdeen and the recent game at Tynecastle. He called both red cards and the penalty. No coincidence in my opinion. Collum having a wee laugh at our expense by appointing him for Saturday. Seems like we are still being punished for repeatedly calling out their incompetence.2 points

The whole investment chat is wrong headed for me. What is investment? Normally it means putting money into something short term with the expectation of a financial return at some point in the future. I dont see how any investor makes money out of Motherwell FC without asset stripping us. Scottish football isnt awash with money like the English Premiership. So European Football would be the only way to make money from us honestly, and we cant realistically offer that to any investor on a regular basis. Id love to know what the score is at Hibs. If they have lost £13m in the last 3 years, what are the terms & expectations of the investors? Even if they are honourable, it cant be a bottomless pit and they will pull the plug at some point. The best way for us is to grow the club into an attractive proposition and sell some of our shareholding, whilst maintaining our 51% stake so that no one can sell anything out from under us. Seems to me we are quite well along that path with attendances up, money in the bank and some saleable assets on the books. Add in a progressive manager and potential Conference League football, I think its fair to say we are headed in the right direction. Certainly much stronger than we were with the Barmack offer on the table.2 points

Once upon a time he came across well (no pun intended) and was good publicity for the club. Personal view is time has moved on but his act/approach hasn't.2 points

The bigger picture for us in footballing terms is that JBA, and Wimmer to a lesser extent, has reset the club. That process was set in motion by the current board. The only real concern for next season and beyond isn’t JBA leaving, which is inevitable at some point, but whether the board changes direction. I don’t think they will. They’ve been clear about the path they want the club on, and it feels like a structural shift rather than a short-term project. The key test will be whether they appoint the next right man when the time comes, and whether the footballing direction remains consistent. If it does, revenue should continue to rise and, with that, the calibre of player and results will follow.2 points
