  1. Yes hes always played cb to my knowledge but hes left sided and a 6,3 left back would be good. Players get pigeonholed for a position far too easily imo. They are professional players so obviously have a high level of ability and that sometimes just needs some wee tweaks to perform in a role more suited to help them progress in their careers as well as their respective teams. Loads of examples over years. If not then SOD simply has to come in. A recent 25 cap scotland international should have a major role within our team but for whatever reason he does not. I hope that gets sorted out as a matter of priority.

  2. Well football’s all about opinions isn’t it? However I think you (and a couple of other posters) have missed my point here. I was making the point that from what I’ve seen of Dean Cornelius, he is not a creative or flair player but more of a (old fashioned term coming up) wing-half. Although he’s only played a handful of games, I believe he’s played his best football when played between our penalty box and halfway where he’s able to break-up opposition attacks as Brown and Lennon did for Celtic. He has the capability and the engine for that role. Going to show my age now - Nobby Stiles did this job for Man Utd and was told that when he won the ball back, to pass it to the creative midfielders in the side. I really think if Dean Cornelius was employed in that type of role that he’d be a real asset. All teams need their worker bees - the late great Bill Shankly one said “A football team is like a piano. You need 8 men to carry it and 3 men who can play the damned thing.”

  3. Im still in disbelief that we haven't been linked with at least a centre half which is the one position we really need another body in as Blaney can't do it alone. Add to that we now need a left back which to be fair should have been known unless they haven't been talking to Penny.

  6. SOD can play left back fine. Maybe not ideal, but the few occasions he has played there he hasnt let us down and has probably shown up better than many of the games he has played RB. Im hoping Blaney is going to be an upgrade at CB, which is where our real problems lie. Hopefully he gets a start this weekend.

  7. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-celtic-rangers-28962604 Riku Danzaki to Motherwell latest Motherwell have started the work permit process for Japanese midfielder Riku Danzaki, writes Scott Burns. The Steelmen have agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old. They have also agreed a deal for Danzaki to be released from his contract commitments at Consadole Sapporo and his loan at Brisbane Roar. The Fir Park side are now hoping that they will be given the green light to finalise Danzaki’s move to Scotland, over the coming weeks. Motherwell boss Stevie Hammell has already brought in Shane Blaney, Mikael Mandron and Ollie Crankshaw in this window. They are also waiting to see if Ipswich Town will extend defender Matt Penney’s loan for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Sheffield United have taken Motherwell youngster Jevan Beattie on trial. The teenage striker - who is the son of former Scotland and Celtic star Craig Beattie - is training at Bramall Lane this week. The English Championship side are running the rule over the young striker. Beattie has come through the youth ranks at Motherwell and has now been offered a full-time contract at Fir Park, now that he has turned 16. If he does move south then Motherwell would be entitled to training compensation.
