Compared to the guy McGhee that knocked us back it's undeniable that Weir has more experience in football and has a better CV. Right now we are in safe, competent hands but obviously it needs to be sorted out for the longer term.
Burrows clearly invested a ridiculous amount of time and energy into the job but in looking for a replacement we don't necessarily need a carbon copy. We might be better off with someone who is able to focus and delegate a bit more.
Thats it for me. A great guy; a fantastic work ethic, but he had his ups and some downs with us. He's made the most of his talent but probably mid table English Championship is his level. Thats not meant to be a slight and in my book thats a very, very high level indeed, although my standards are modest compared to most.
Somewhat related but perhaps veering a bit off subject, wonder how his wages compare to Turnbull’s. Turnbull seemed the more likely to be successful but thinking perhaps Campbell is making a bit more than Turnbull? Regardless, I’d like to see them both playing on a regular basis although I keep hoping Turnbull will live down south as well.
100%.
There's a real danger here of throwing the baby out with the bathwater with regard to some posters.
To sign one player with a questionable injury record is a fair enough risk but to do it with 2 or perhaps 3 is questionable. Obika should have been a known injury risk with his past hamstring problems but to give him a 2 year contract and then he's sidelined until December with .........his hamstring. Well. Pape Souare, a player with another worrying injury record is also out for a few weeks (we've heard nothing about his injury). It happens once you're unlucky, but twice? If you have a huge squad thats less of a problem, but if your reducing squad size then its much more of a risk.
The next few days will be huge for us and may well define our season. Alarm bells aren't ringing for me but they are tinkling.
Not sure. I think Luton will have record lowest points tally this season. We don't need a midfielder as much as a striker but I would love wee Al back on loan
This is it for me. I don't really want to know who the CEO is. I don't know who they are at any other club outside of Aberdeen for obvious reasons. I want them to do the job competently and hire the right people to support them, including a paid fan liaison. The idea of a unicorn volunteer is tinpot.
I don't need a CEO to take to social media to explain what's usually obvious or give oxygen to the crazies.
The Club is and has been rudderless for quite some time. Flow was a breath of fresh air over the years, and that hard work papered over the many cracks, but he eventually left before the Club tainted him or he'd had enough, and now we're here. History is/could be repeating itself and will continue to do so. We either need a relegation reboot or an ambitious and intelligent CEO to turn us inside out and start afresh.
On the subject of Killie this Swedish team Aberdeen are playing have a top class 4G pitch which the teams are actually able to play football on. If the league can't force Killie and Livi to put down grass surely they could make them use plastic that isn't utterly shite.
The competitive and financial advantage the two plastic teams get from their shite pitches is a direct disadvantage to us yet we seem to do nothing about it.
McCoist spoke the best line ever as a co commentator at the last World cup final. When Mbape scored his third goal the English commentator said "that's the first hat trick in WC final since 1966."
And McCoist immediately said " and it's the first one where the ball crossed the line three times"
Absolutely brilliant.
