  1. I know as much as I need to know on this subject thank you very much. I’ve got eyes and ears and I can see and hear things for myself. I have absolutely no interest in developing any further ‘understanding’ of this particular subject either. I go to the football to support my team and my club, I don’t want that ruined or my safety jeopardised by the actions of people who can’t behave.

  2. Not been a huge fan if pyro in the past as I dont enjoy the experience of being in the thick of it. However, I think its time we had an adult converation about safe standing. Celtic have it at Parkhead. We kinda have it in Block E but without the fancy seats / stanchions. If each ground had a designated area for these things then fans would have a choice of whether to be involved or not. That can be easily managed for home fans but the problem comes at away venues like Perth where everyone is shoehorned into a small section. The young ones are the lifeblood of the game and the next generations moaning old codgers. Football needs to evolve with the times, within safe and legal limits, obviously

  3. I remember when Maxi moved on being concerned that we wouldnt get another goalkeeper of that quality to replace him. And we went and got a 6'5 dutch maverick with a pornstar moustache! Im not sure he was the best goalkeeper we had in my time supporting Motherwell, but he was certainly the most fun to watch. Catching baĺls over the penalty spot was just food and drink for the big man and his mazy dribbles round opposition forwards before clearing the ball had Wee Tommy tearing his hair out. Add in the rather colourful goalie top we had at the time and he was quite the character. Of course we replaced Sieb with Stevie Woods, so Davids original point does stand! 😆

  6. The Pyro thing isn't complicated. It's unsafe, unhealthy and stops people from seeing the game. It's not really about creating an atmosphere at the match it's clearly about creating content for social media.

  7. Exactly, not many expected us to get a result at Tynecastle and we did. As I say a lot, we need our fans to get right behind the team. Any signs of discontent transfers onto the pitch and plays right into Hearts Hands......SIWY

  8. Seriously ??? Although a slight hit on his arm it took enough of it to settle the ball perfectly for his ultimate finish and goal, had his arm not interfered with the flight of the ball it wouldnt have dropped perfectly for him to hit. I'm not defending the rule but I'm astonished that people cant see the trajectory of the ball was changed even slightly but was enough to set it up perfectly for his goal.

  9. The thing about goalies is that there are far more good goalies than there are first team starting spots - and they don't even get the outfield players' benefit of coming on for the last 20 mins. So when Kelly does move on, we should be able to ensure we wnd up with a quality starter and a decent backup.

  10. I can understand both sides of the argument about pyros, but too much attention is being focused on Tuesday night at Perth. Yes, it p****d me off big time as we couldn't see the game for 5 minutes and you could feel the smoke in your throat. However you can't take this one incident in isolation as many are doing. Similar pyros are in widespread use in crowds e.g. in large demonstrations, but no action is taken. The government(s) ought to take a clear line on this and a) clarify when and where they can be used legally or B) Bring in legislation to prevent such use. Once that is done, the football, or indeed other sporting, authorities can then take action in a consistent way. As OTF shows, the statement released by our club and Sevco are somewhat different. Thats not a good start and reflects badly on the SFA and SPFL. Also it wasn't that long ago that our club was using images of such incidents on social media. As soon as the legal/regulatory framework is in place or clarified, then the football authorities need to make a clear statement, and in the interests of fairness, laws implemented by the police consistently, irrespective of location or numbers involved. Piecemeal action will achieve nothing.

  11. Reasoned debate. Is there an element of its use being edgy as it’s not allowed? A forbidden fruit? Reckon we’d see it take off in the first instance were it embraced, eventually the novelty wearing out.

  13. A result of 2 shocking tackles by Aberdeen players, neither of whom were punished by a weak ref.

  14. What unfair advantage did Wilkinson get though? Did the ball trajectory after hitting his hand especially that close to him behave any differently to it hitting his chest or any other part of him especially as he knew nothing about it for me its no different. The rule is shite to start with and when it's forensically examined by VAR it gets ridiculous. Unless the hand/arm contact changes the ball trajectory and gives the player an advantage as a result ie if the hand is not in a normal position then goals like that last night should stand. The current handball rules are a feckin shambles.

  15. If his form had been magnificent all season and he had been keeping us in games I would agree. But it hasnt. Now that could just be because he has been playing behind a defence that has leaked goals in recent weeks, but the goal at Kilmarnock was down to him and it hasnt been the only occasion. He makes some very good saves most weeks, but If you compare the individual mistakes he has made to those of say, Mugabi, and compare the criticism that accompanies it, Kelly flies under the radar. Now, Im not saying I would hunt Kelly in January. But if a suitor comes in with a reasonable offer, I think we would be crazy not to consider it.

  16. 1 out of 3 is shit for a top level keeper tbh

  17. I think Carson was better as well. Kelly is a good shotstopper, but he doesnt come for cross balls and his distribution is poor. He is definitely a good enough keeper at our level, but whether he is value for money is a different matter. None of us really know what money he is on, but he came in on loan from a bigger club able to pay much higher wages and is reputed to be our top earner. For me if we were looking to trim the wage budget I would have moved him on and gone and got Carson back in the short term. For me he shouldnt be near the Scotland team. The fact that he is shows the dearth of talent among Scottish goalkeepers right now. Given that he doesnt want to talk contracts right now, it seems like he wants to run his contract down and see what offers come to him in January. Thats fair enough and his perogative, but I wouldnt lose any sleep over moving him on in January for whatever fee we can get.

  19. Slattery is a show boating cunt who has shown fuck all to back up the showboating for 4 / 5 games. Absolutely abysmal from him tonight. The worry is StJ were fuckin honking and easily the worst team we've faced and we still couldn't beat them.

  21. That’s exactly what it’s about, as it’s the case for so many aspects of life these days. We live in the “look at me, look at me” culture and football is no different so it’s no surprise to see it being hijacked by bampots who’s primary interest in being there is to set off flares, display banners, jump on the park and create a reputation for themselves. #scenes

  22. We’re getting nothing but pumped here. We can’t defend and we can’t score unless we are chasing the game. Nothing will change here. Shankland will tear our defence to shreds, Sibbick will have the easiest game of his life as he easily snuffs out our powderpuff attack and Biereth will be our only hope of getting on the scoresheet, probably when we’re 3-0 down. 1-4 to Edinburgh’s finest.
