First post here, made account ages ago but have been a long time lurker.. Found out last night that we allegedly offered Groningen £5k p/w to take KVV. Killie blew us out the water with £9k p/w. Taking it with a pinch of salt as I can't even imagine Shankland is on that much. Figures make sense though as it was rumoured KVV quadrupled his wages from approx £2.5k p/w with us. If we have that much spare cash lying around I'd be at least doubling Spittal's wages.2 points

If tonight has taught us anything, we should all cancel our Well Society subs and fund the 'Blair Spittal 5-year contract' pot instead. I've said it before somewhere on this forum, but he's probably our most important player.2 points

Completely agree and over quite a long period of time as well. I think it's clear the criticism that's been dished out to some players has affected their performances. He's been booed coming on to the park ... No need. Ps for clarification... This is just my opinion.1 point

Another who gets it far too tight when team struggling. He's got 25 scotland caps for a reason.1 point

I'd never have got it either Smiddy, but they told you it was him on the Facebook post. Never noticed it at the time.1 point

I guess it depends on what you mean by "stick." For example, whenever I was in the stadium watching the team, I never booed the guy. Or anyone on our team actually, as it's never productive. I always showed him support when the team were playing. I guess all I did was question his signing and what he'd shown to that point to warrant being signed. But I always said that I'd love nothing more than him coming in and being one of the few who take his stats and turn them on their head. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it really is a beautiful thing.1 point

I actually think, strangely, that despite conceding five goals, their 'keeper looked really good, possibly their best player on the night with Dhanda. The two one-on-ones he did really well with and with Theo's dinked shot he came out and made himself big again, doing enough that the chance was missed. I'd put those chances down as good goalkeeping rather than bad misses by Bair.1 point

True but you have to factor Butcher being injured and the loss of the pace of Furlong and Johnston. Butcher was very much the talker and organiser of the back three. Unfortunately he's had to focus a bit on his own form as he had been out for so long. Furlong and, in particular, Johnston allowed us to defend a wee bit higher up the park due to both their recovery pace when we lost possession and the fact that teams were more wary of their pace going forward. Souare and O'Donnell don't bring the same pace. Things have improved since Butcher found his feet a bit and since Gent became a starter and I don't think it's a coincidence...1 point

Bair had a good game last night in terms of general play but....he's a striker that missed, what, 5-6 really good chances in the match? Going forward he's probably not going to get a third of those chances in a game. It's important for the team that his finishing improves because having a striker that can put the ball in the net makes all the difference in this league. You really need to be putting away at least 1 in 3. He's made big strides forward and it's not my intention to slate the guy, I'm glad he's looking more confident, but it's one of those one's where if a different player had missed those chances they'd probably be getting a harder time about it.1 point

Absolutely this... And hopefully the defensive backline at Morton have the same lack of intelligence as County.1 point

At this stage it's clear that Bair is the first choice (and rightfully so), with Vale pushing for that position as well. Having Shaw back as an extra body? I wouldn't be against it. He'd be the third choice for sure unless he proved us wrong.1 point

Could be worth it from Killie's POV though. Ensuring Saint Mirren cannae get him and therefore possibly increasing their chance of getting 4th. Bear in mind they don't need the KVV of last season, the huffy 9 goal striker that Alexander signed would be more than enough to help them. Not worth that kind of money for us though.1 point

Sat down there to watch the highlights I’d recorded only to find out the time had changed and I’d recorded a guy strolling around Skye, no problems I thought, will get it on iPlayer but it’s not there - anyone any idea when it should be there? I always thought it was after the programme had finished. edit: game now on iPlayer at 10:301 point

The only pressure will come if we fall back down the league. After last night it's obvious Friday won't be a Baraclough/Hammell moment.1 point

If your beloved sash encourages Halliday to score a hat trick against his sash-loving bedfellow, Imrie, then let the inevitable happen. 😉1 point

If he gets them playing like they did tonight against Morton and a few more times this season, he may even convert me into a fanboy.1 point

I had a feeling that was coming tonight. The performances have been building towards that result tonight. I have to say, I have been really impressed with the way Kettlewell has managed his way through this last 6 months. The low point was definitely RC away but that apart we were never being completely overrun by teams and since that low point there has been a very steady, almost methodical, incremental improvement week by week that built up to the performance this evening. He has spotted a player in Theo Bair and has managed him really well despite the pressure the team has been under. Delighted for Spittal tonight. Really honest, capable player who has clearly suffered from the teams loss of form. It has been a long, hard Autumn/ Winter but I really believe this team have turned a corner. 4th place anyone?1 point

Outstanding performance and best in a long while. The movement between sods and bevis is something not normal in spl or motherwell teams but it produced gd results and fair play for kettlewell for trying it. Spittal and bair are prime examples of not to judge before seeing how they play. Both are really kicking on. Plus we now have options of bench and also building confidence. Friday night is going to be a great old fashioned cup tie with 2 teams full of confidence and gd support behind them. I saw yesterday we had sold 1200 here's hoping that tonight plus sales at end of week can take us to 2k. Really looking forward to it with confidence.1 point

I see the usual suspects are missing. They must be absolutely raging they can't come on and rant like usual.1 point

How often do you come home from Fir Park disappointed you didn't win 15-0. 🤣 I think Bair could have got 6 just on his own. We seemed to cut through Ross County every time we went forward. At times we were profligate but we also had some very well taken goals , especially Spittal's efforts. That's him on 9 for the season with two excellent assists in the last two matches. Still not 100% convinced by us defensively but that's a rare clean sheet tonight and hopefully we can build on that.1 point

I genuinely find it difficult not to pick Theo Bair every week. IMO he’s getting better every week. Honourable mentions for Paton (who I’ve been critical of) & Gent was again excellent. But had to vote for Spitz. His second goal was something David Beckham would’ve been proud of1 point

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate just how important a player Spittal actually is for us ? He literally plays a part in every single goal1 point

Forget how shite Ross County were tonight, that's a fantastic performance from Motherwell - particularly in the 1st half. Some really great stuff to watch.1 point

Your post was fine, there was no personal attack. You posted your opinion, which is perfectly acceptable. Not everyone is going to agree with each other, but as long as it's kept within a certain level of respect and decent discussion then there isn't a problem. This is a football forum. It's going to get heated, and there will be a robust exchange of views. The admin and moderators keep an eye on what's being said, and if it crosses the line we deal with it.0 points
