  1. Thought I had landed in a thread on a parallel universe. Almost unanimous praise on a new signing - nah I'm not having that. He's shite 😆

  2. You really do believe the shite you post don't you, constant trolling on an online forum you really need to have a good look at yourself 🤦‍♂️

  3. Ok. I’ll make this simple too. If you think close on 100% administrative tasks are completed successfully then I am happy for you but if you can back this up with hard evidence I’ll believe you. I’ll wait. All businesses across all business sectors expend effort and resources to try and ensure they are ahead of their competitors as they identify them. It doesn’t just impact on football.

  4. Apparently he took a lot of the flack from the St J fans for last year's poor performances; captain, local lad, winner of two cups etc. A fresh start with an adoring, forgiving fanbase is just what he needs... 👀

  5. I like big SODS, always find the seethe toward him a bit weird. *sticks helmet on and runs away*

  6. Thanks for your response. I agree that the WS could learn lessons from the Hearts set up. Particularly with regard to a web site which is clearly a particular gripe of yours. No doubt there is other best practice to have a look at. So, yes, have a look at them for ideas. I also agree the Society could be and should have been more forceful given their standing as majority share holders. But where your comparison falls flat is the part played by the respective Club Boards. That is a massive factor. At Hearts, and whether folk like or loathe Anne Budge, we have a Board and former Board Members who respect their fan group, work with and support them for the benefit of both parties, and ultimately Hearts. I get the impression there is an open door policy whereby the fan group can call upon the expertise of the club when appropriate. And there will be differences of opinion at times, but I think that is natural and healthy. Also the Hearts executive have brought in literally millions to the Club via their contacts, business acumen and knowledge of the Club's fan base locally and worldwide. As recently as a month or so ago a couple of new initiatives were announced. £2m I seem to recall. Hearts appear to have learned lessons from the disaster that befell them and brought about the creation of the Hearts Foundation. Turning to Motherwell we have the exact opposite. We have a Board who resent the WS and certainly show them and their position as majority shareholders no respect. Plenty of examples of that with the discussions and negotiations surrounding this proposal from Barmack a classic example. A proposal that would ultimately bankrupt the Society and remove all power. The Society has been deliberately sidelined and ignored. Regarded simply as a Bank to be raided for whatever purpose the Club Board saw fit, aided by two or three Society Board Members whose loyalties and intentions are far from clear. Who come across as puppets of the Club Chairman. Through their influence the role of the Society diminished year on year until such time as the Society Board changed. At which point the worm turned, although not fast enough for some, fighting for your rights as a Motherwell fan and striving to return to what was originally established. It takes time although some progress has been made, otherwise we would not be having this debate. Regards sourcing external finance, exactly how much has the current Chairman and the Board brought in over recent years? Or ever. I would suggest the Society you hold in such poor regard has brought in far more through fans' subscriptions/donations alone. Not bad for a bunch of amateurs. Compare that to Hearts. Instead our Board have relied upon the Society to fund gaps and now Mr McMahon is attempting to sell the myth that it is the role of a bunch of volunteers to come up with a solution. As I said earlier, to do his job for him. And sadly some appear to have been fooled by his diversion strategy. So by all means compare the Well Society to the Foundation of Hearts. But please include the whole picture. It is not as simple as walking in and sacking the existing Club Board, even if the Society wanted to and has those powers. We need to retain some semblance of stability as the Club transitions to the new set up I believe you, me and most others are hoping for.

  7. I think perhaps the frustration is that some fans know nothing of the well societys plans. I certainly know nothing about what's going on behind the scenes. I personally have every intention of helping out in some capacity once I'm able to.

  8. Normally I cringe at the "I know what you don't" patter but I actually met our new captain in Germany last week. Not going to say who it is as it hasn't been announced yet but he was with his older brother and they're both such nice chaps. Watching their younger brother play football apparently.

  9. No criticism of your statement but for me it highlights the fundamental issue we have "all the board have full time jobs" for the WS to operate as it should to ensure true fan ownership the boards full time jobs should be running the WS. Professional people in place to provide effective and professional governance hopefully the current scenario will be the catalyst for the required changes.

  10. Not sure I'd do that immediately; a few St J fans have said they thought having the captaincy there affected his confidence/natural game. I would imagine McGinn will get promoted. Maybe next season if he settles well into life here.

  11. Happy with that one; 6' 3" and all we really need to ask of him is to win headers and get the ball to fuck so that's perfect. Essentially the Bevis role without the added Bevis shenanigans. St J fan on P&B says he played his best football centrally in a 3, so that's ideal. Next; a keeper, LWB x2 (one of those will probably be a loan) and I'll be upgrading from pleased to very pleased with out business. Also, at this point last year, we'd only signed Obika (cc @capt_oats on P&B for that). Kudos to getting the business done early to Ketts / Dawes / Caldwell.

  12. Taken up the contract offer. He’s still recovering from the broken wrist injury he picked up when on loan to East Kilbride.

  13. I thought the point was if you have a set budget rather than spend it on say 25 players, spend the same budget on c18 players instead. Overall go smaller squad and higher spend per player but keeping the same budget. Last season we seemed to do both, smaller squad and smaller per player budget. I can see the argument of less players and better quality but we'd need a deeper pool of youngsters coming through which is harder to achieve as each season passes.

  14. And what exactly are you expecting in this game changing plan? Are you looking for the Society to come up with a magical suggestion about how to secure massive financial input to the Club? If so, that is totally unrealistic and is exactly what McMahon wants you to expect. Basically the Society to do his job for him. It is all deflection tactics on his part. The Society Board's remit is to grow the Society, safeguard fans' contributions and work with the Club Board on a range of matters, including Community projects and strategic planning. Or it would be if the current Club Board had not excluded them. The Society does not run the day to day operations of the Club but should have input when appropriate. Recent Society Board changes have attempted to address an imbalance that existed and progress is being made in that more scrutiny is now made of Club requests for assistance and Board influence within the Society is much reduced. That progress appears to have resulted in even more resistance from the Exec Board, culminating in the Society being excluded from the Barmack negotiations. Other than the input from Dickie and Feely which it now transpires was not in line with Society thinking and has brought into question where those individuals' loyalties lie. But comprehensive change takes time and being compelled to intervene in the current situation is not helping. This mess is none of the Society's doing but unfair pressure is now being placed on them, a team of volunteers, to sort it out. Perhaps you should turn your understandable frustration on those professionals that are responsible for the mess in the first place.

  15. It's definitely happened in the past Porter, Hughes, Nicky Law right up to Liam Kelly. The idea that we should be worried about the sensibilities of a guy like SOD who personally conceded more penalties than we kept clean sheets is mental. If he doesn't like it good luck finding another club. I'm not saying we should have broke the bank for KVV but if you look at our midfield options Kettlewell has brought to the club it's shambolic.
