Good goal. Like the look of fads and just. Don't like the look of our center backs again.2 points

The maths bit was a lot more humorous than most of your jokes tho .1 point

When I was learning to drive, my mum used to make me drive her to Fine Fare on late night opening Wednesdays "for practice". Or it might have been Gateway by then. Back to the football - we need two new central defenders ASAP.1 point

It wasn't a maths tutorial, it was mostly needed for doing the messages at Fine Fare.1 point

It is .87 of a foot, there are 12 inches in a foot so 12 x 0.872 = 5 feet and 10 and a half inches. one advantage of being old is you can think in metric and imperial.1 point

People my age grew up with both systems, so know there are 2.54cm to an inch. 179 / 2.54 = 70.47 inches. 12 inches to a foot, so 70.46 inches = 5 ft 10.47 inches.1 point

AP's not a hold-up man, he's an inside the box finisher. If we want to get the most from him, he needs to be facing the goal with the ball in front of him.1 point

Lucky not to be two down. How long until Askou goes home for a couple of days and phones to say he's no coming back..1 point

I used to watch Hugh Sproat defend at the half-way line, so keepers that stand outside their box don't worry me much.1 point

Ward Johnny k. Mcginn. Gordon. Wilson Just. Slattery. Fadinger. TJ Stama. Sule Another game on Saturday so good to freshen things up plus I would keep SOD out the line up to give the guy a break. If Kettlewell thought abuse was bad it's nowhere near the levels poor SOD has suffered. Like to see Just start as he looked handy, hopefully Stama not injured again after Saturday COYW1 point

Donβt even know if itβs from an interview, I think he was on bbc radio Scotland sports show on Sunday afternoon and Iβm assuming the journalists have all taken what they wanted to hear to suit whatever angle they want to pedal.1 point

Aye, JBA did a fine job swatting down the journos in his presser. His dad has been a key influence in managing Miller's career and helping him make good choices (like staying at Fir Park and getting 75 first team appearances under his belt). I wish some of our other youngsters had similar guidance, and I'm OK with him talking to the media.1 point

It's the managers that are telling them to do it. One of the current trends in modern football, along with passing out from the back, inverted full backs, and wingbacks instead of wingers. You might not like it, and will be more likely to notice it when mistakes happen, but I guarantee all the modern coaches have Gigabytes of match data showing that less goals are conceded that way, and more attacks are created that way. A few years ago, I saw the guy in charge of data at Liverpool discuss his analysis. He had taken all the available stats from all the available matches to create a map of the pitch. They had calculated the percentage chance of a goal being scored from the starting position of the man with the ball on every square foot of the pitch. They used that during training to focus on getting the ball to highest percentage starting positions as quickly as possible. That's the kind of analysis that goes into the game these days, even at smaller clubs like ours. And the kind of thing JBA means when he says that Danish teams play more modern football than Scottish teams. We can't ask for a more progressive approach to the game and then complain about what that means. Well, we can, but it will hold us back. Today's tactics are significantly different from when I started watching football in the 70's, which is mostly a good thing - although preferring full backs that can attack rather than defend still drives me nuts. Back to this game, I expect more of our new signings to start, and a higher tempo game on our grass.1 point

It'll be a lot cooler and played on a decent pitch so that takes away some of the reasons/excuses from Saturday. Askou has said he'll be utilising the whole squad and treating these games as 'competitive pre-season' so I think we will see changes. Could be an opportunity to play some younger players, especially if we can take the lead. At this stage in the season you can't expect a well oiled machine, it's more about getting into the knock stages, so it's result over performances for me.1 point
