Askou says Lennon Miller is recovering from injury, and there’s nothing new to add, as speculation mounts over a big-money move.
He said: “Everyone has potentially played their last game for Motherwell if there comes a big club, who put an offer on the table that we can’t resist.
“But Lennon has done really well in his recovery with the staff, and we knew it was going to be a long shot if we were going to make him ready for this weekend.
“But I think there is a very good opportunity that he will be ready for next week, if he’s still here.
“For now he’s still a Motherwell player, so we are doing our very best to prepare him to be part of what we’re doing next week.”
On potential signings, Askou said: “We are working hard in the background because we’re still too few, and we need to add some width and extra quality, to raise the level of competition.
“We’ll see if we make something happen during the week. If not there is a new week after that, but we’re doing it as fast as we can.”
