I thought we were poor last night for what it’s worth but not going to lose sleep over it. If we are as bad in 3 weeks time then I may get worried

If you browse through some of the other SPL teams fan forums they're all saying pretty much the same thing.

Welcome to close season in Scotland.

Right, I’ve tried to stay off here for a bit but after watching that yesterday I genuinely wonder what’s going on at this club.

We’ve just had a pre-season where we’ve allegedly strengthened, yet here we are playing hoofball against a team that finished 9th last season and looked like they couldn’t be bothered to get out of second gear. Is this the grand new era we were promised? More like the same old p*sh, just with a fresh coat of Dulux.

The manager says “the boys gave everything” – aye, well if that’s everything, we’re in for a long season. No shape, no urgency, no clue. And as for some of the new signings – honestly, I’ve seen more presence in a ghost town.

We let players go, tell the fans we’re building something, then turn out a performance like that and expect folk to pay £25 a ticket and clap like seals? Sorry, not for me.

Call me negative (as usual) but unless there’s a serious wake-up call, we’ll be sleepwalking into another relegation scrap by Halloween.

Anyway, I’ll leave it there before I say something I’ll regret.

    Now there's a great idea.

We all do the same and post the results.

    That would be hilarious.

I get your point but would say on the evidence of last seasons expense on frankly some garbage and crocks then budget is not a problem

As the old saying goes "buy cheap buy twice". Or 3 times in  the case of goalkeepers.

That thought had crossed my mind also , after everything that happened with Stuart Kettlewell I wouldn't put it past the media to be asking our ex manager's for an opinion

Wait until we play Killie for the first time. You can just imagine the headlines.

He’s probably no better or worse than any other winger we might pick up from within Scotland. That said, most of his career has been spent in the lower leagues. Still, I can’t help but find it funny that Kettlewell has signed an attacking winger.

Going to play him as a RB (probably).

If we go with a traditional back four next season, I think Wilson would do the job just fine. As for Thompson, he doesn’t offer much going forward or defensively, so I would be disappointed if we gave him another deal.

Saw Wilson playing the traditional left back position for Beith and he was easily their best olayer that season when they won the WOSL Premier League title. Definitely looks happier playing in that role although he was used as a wing back on occasion as well.

Wouldn't have any qualms about him as a LB in a back 4.

Don't know much about Sylla, I must confess, and I'm aware of the Ebbe Skovdahl line about statistics but we've already signed a defender from a Dundee team that conceded 77 goals last season (highest in the division). Not sure signing a 31 year old defensive midfielder from that same team is guaranteed to help our defensive solidity...

I can only go with what the Dundee fans say about him and the general consensus is that he was one of their best players in a poor team and they're gutted to lose him.

Must admit any time Ive seen him he's looked steady if unspectacular which is probably what we're looking for, unless our new man has his eyes on something better.

  8. If we werent continually having to look for a new manager what else would we have talk about during the close season.

Seriously though every new manager is a risk. This one is no different to anyone else we appoint.

He might bugger off after a season or he might just bring something we've all been looking for and become a club legend.

Either way I'm more excited about this appointment than I would be if we had gone with one of the recycled shit tactics Scottish managers.

We’ve had a fair number of managers who were with the OF:

    Roger Hynd
    Davie Hay
    Jock Wallace
    Bobby Watson
    Tommy McLean
    Terry Butcher
    Stuart McCall.
    Alex McLeish
    Billy Davies

The only one I had no time for was Jock Wallace who IMO was an ignoramus.

Funnily enough Im reading Tommy McLeans autobiography right now and it's spooky that a lot of stuff he talks about is even more relevant these days like the lack of young talent being given a chance for example.

i watched there games in the play offs and they were brutal,if that's how brown wants his teams to play then no thanks.

TBF I've seen them live 3 times in the League and they played some nice stuff.

I suspect he changed his approach specifically for the play off games.

A moot point anyway as I don't think he'll be in the running.

  11. Leaving aside Brown's history, IF and I stress if we're looking for a young manager with a half decent record, seems to have done well at Ayr according to their fans and who hasn't yet been indoctrinated into the SPL shit tactics managers club, we could do worse.

Nah I’m not convinced of that. You tend to find that the people who buy the kits will buy them regardless of what they look like and those who don’t, won’t buy them. I genuinely don’t think that chopping and changing the design and template of the kit makes much difference to sales, or any difference atall.

Have to agree with you there. I buy the home, away and 3rd strip for me and my son every season.

It wouldn't matter to me what it looked like or what sponsor was on it.

The name doing the rounds is Thomas Wörle. Completely pulled out of thin air on P&B, but I want to see I'd the papers puck up on it anyway. Comes from the Ralf Ragnig gegenpress school like wimmer

Someone suggested that if we're pulling random Germans out of a hat Christian Titz must be a good shout as he likes to play with two up front.🫣

A Titz and Koc dream team😁.

Imagine the fun the daily rags could have with that.

Will reserve judgement until I see how he does.

    Caveat:
He’s spent the majority of his career in the Championship.

Every Dundee fan I've spoken to in person or online have said they're gutted to lose him and he's consistently been one of their best players every season.

Linfield have given Dundee permission to speak to David Healy about becoming their manager.

Dundee fans not impressed as he has history in applying for jobs in Scotland when his contract is nearing end at Linfield and uses it as leverage for a new and improved contract and transfer budget. Did it with St Johnstone apparently.

What a stange and underwhelming list. I've no problems with those being released. However, the "under discussion" list is lengthy and downright odd. I've no problem with discussing terms with Casey, but the others? If we're wanting to clear the decks and freshen the squad up?  I get that the managerial situation complicates matters just now but the term "We remain in dialogue with all remaining players, whose personal circumstances are all different." Seems a bit odd. Does that mean option clauses could kick in?" No mention of Matty Connelly who I think is also out of contract and we have 3 signed keeprs already.  Pleased that Olly Whyte and Mikey Booth have signed new deals, as they seem highly rated.

I go on the premise that ""under discussion with" doesn't equate to "offered terms to". At least I hope not but it is a strange statement albeit under strange circumstances.

Really good Interview from the chairman. Don't think there is much more we could have done. Ahmet happy to stay so see what happens there

Yeah quite impressed by it (media dept obviously looks in here🤔).

Would love him to stay but have a feeling that he'll join Wimmer back in Germany at some point.
