Fair enough. I stand corrected. But both leg muscle injuries are a concern. I said at the time of his first injury that is was because Kettlewell lobbed him into the Rangers game before he was fully fit, and it’s generally been downhill for him since then in terms of fitness.

Totally agree Kettlewell didn't manage it very well.

It's going to take time for him to get fully fit after 2 longish injuries.

Hopefully a good rest, take his missus back to see her family and turn up for pre season ready to go.

If it turns out to be a continuation of this season then we look at it again.

His first injury with us was his hamstring, as was his second. His third is his wrist.

Sure I read somewhere that his second injury was a torn calf muscle (though I could be wrong).

Injuries conducive with being played while not being 100% ready??

In fact edit to add after a quick google.

"The centre-forward tore a thigh muscle on his first start and, after hitting his fifth goal of the season against Rangers on December 29, he suffered a calf injury that has sidelined him since".

Or we keep him and he’s a success next season, we don’t know but no need to panic yet.

If he’s the same next season your doom and gloom approach will have been proven correct but I’m not ready to throw him on the scrap heap over an unfortunate season. Many players go through this in their careers and have then become successful at clubs, why can’t he be the same next season?

    Me neither.

The good thing is all his injuries seem to have been fairly minor one offs in the overall scheme of things.

By that I mean non recurring, breaking down from the same injury time and time again or one that has plagued him in the past.

He may not at times have displayed the physical or mental attributes needed for this league but I'm happy to see him get a good pre season under his belt and see his family hopefully settled.

If it turns out to be a similar pattern next season then maybe we look at the situation again.

    Yeah Halliday is quite decent.

He's always good on the podcasts and SSB.

Also think the last few games are up there with some of his best in a Motherwell strip.

He's always been a good player it's just that we weren't using him in his best position.

He was berated for slowing things down by continually turning back on himself and killing any momentum we had going forward but it now looks like he was only following orders.

It's OK......it's all reverse psychology.  I can handle that

    OR

The psychological term for expecting the worst in everything is "catastrophizing"; it refers to the tendency to automatically assume the worst possible outcome in a situation, even when there's little evidence to support it.

We should remember that MW has had a lot of exposure to Bundesliga football both in Germany and Austria so we should expect him to be up to speed re structure, tactics, fitness regimes, set-plays, metrics etc.

Conversely, I noticed some Rangers fan on social media saying even before this game that all he'd seen of Barry Ferguson when at Clyde was  him shouting and swearing at his players. BF's "success" there, Kelty Hearts and Alloa  suggest he is not the man for the job at Ibrox in the long term.

Think we could be on to a winner with Wimmer. I notice none of our great Scottish churnalists and presstitutes seem aware of Wimmer's pedigree or noticed his potential.

Barry Ferguson is a Fud. Can't string 2 words together and lives on his past glories. Will never be a good manager in a million years.

Plus my mate gave him a doing in Hamilton one night when he insulted his wife.

  7. When you've been schooled to play a certain way for as long as this squad has been, it takes time to adjust to a different style and tbh I was expecting that to take a lot longer than it has. Early days but night and day from a few weeks ago and it can only improve as they get more sessions under their belts.

A joy to see guys playing with a smile on their faces for a change.

Makes you wonder if Kettlewell was as popular in the dressing room as he was being made out to be.

Pound for pound the worst stack of transfers in the history of the football club and let's not forget a fair few of these guys had a track record of Injuries before they signed.

But this is what happens when you buy cheap and cheerful you end up buying twice!

The Ross County fans did warn us about his eye for a player.

We could definitely do with some updates on the outside investment opportunities, if only to keep the narrative under our control.

We have some good people with skills and expertise on both the Well Society and Executive Boards now who are more than capable of increasing our revenue streams.

I just get very frustrated when I see posts that dont take any account of how much change has occurred in the last 12 months on both counts.

(Again not directing that at your good self).

I'm like you and suspect you're talking about all the naysayers on X and FB who really don't have a clue about inward investment and have an axe to grind with the WS.

An update would be good as I think from memory they said something would be announced last year and with nothing concrete yet forthcoming it just gives these trolls more ammunition and theyre probably the same ones who were dishing out the abuse to Kettlewell ( deserved or not).

I've every confidence that our finances are under control.

Not picking on you individually, but this thought process rips ma knitting.

It doesnt matter whether the Well Society own the club or a multi billionaire.

We still have to live within our means.

Billionaires dont become billionaires by giving away their money. They only lend it to football clubs in the form of loans that require to be paid back.

Kettlewell had plenty of money to spend, regardless of how he made out that he didnt. He just didnt spend it as wisely as he might have. Thats why we are running a 34 man squad.

Obviously, if the Society can bring in more outside investment, that will be welcome. But we still have to spend it properly.

Same with any money we make off Lennon Miller.

There are ways to grow a football club even at our level. If we start by not pissing it up a wall it will be a good start!

I know you're talking in general so no offence taken.

There's a difference between investment and soft loans. A company or entrepreneur if theyre making enough money will always look to invest somewhere that raises their profile and fits into their ethos as it is effectively written of against tax. I look forward to finding out the progress on this front from the WS in time, I've every confidence that they're on the ball with that.

Totally agree that Kettlewell made a total arse of his signings and to end up with the size of squad we have is testament to negligence and I again look forward to seeing what our wage bill is for this season.

  11. Unless we pull a rabbit out the hat in the last 20mins we go into Wednesday night needing a win. Lose that and I fully expect us to finish in the play off spot.

If we somehow avoid that, major squad rebuild in the summer required and I just hope the WS have all this inward investment  lined up to attract a better quality player otherwise its rinse and repeat next season.

I went to my first game in 1979. You know sometimes it was easier back in the day when there wasn't social media :)

I still have fond memories of the old "Club Call" where that was the only way you could find out what was happening at the club.

Till my old man got the phone bill in😬

SK now doing the interview rounds with Sky Sports.

Starting to make a bit of a coño of himself now letting this drag on.

Notice that not one of the hacks has had the balls to ask him exactky what was allegedly shouted that upset his family so much.

Anyway he's history and we move on

I see someone on P & B has advocated a "scorched earth" approach, presumably to eradicate any trace of the SK regime. Given the fanbase's feelings towards SK, I get that. We do need an element of short term continuity through the likes of Obika, Foster and Clarkson though. However, in the medium to long term,  Herr Wimmer needs to introduce the winds of change to our off the field football set up.

As an aside, I think the Club Board has handled a difficult situation very well, that would do credit to MI5. Matters dealt with quietly and professionally.

The only whiff of a leak I heard was overhearing a couple of the padded seats club blazer and tie brigade having a conversation outside the entrance about Frail being "definitely away on Monday then"

Game - absolutely woeful. Can't be bothered saying any more.

Manager rumours - Michael O'Neill sitting in the stand. But is he not still NI manager? Probably a red herring if so.

Someone was saying that Van Gaag was in the stand as well.

Listening to the rumours in the pie queue was more exciting than watching the game.

I'm past the stage of even caring if I'm honest just scunnered watching dross every week not just Motherwell but the League in general.

Unless the new manager has a magic wand I can see us in deep shit.
