  1. Me too and its definitely an age thing.

I went on Friday not expecting a lot and the team duly delivered. 5 years ago I would have been punching walls and been a nightmare to live with for a couple of days but now I just shrug my shoulders and try to motivate myself to go to the next game.

I think its going to get worse with the likes of Dundee Killie et al getting inward investment so they will probably (although not necessarily) be able to afford better players which in theory will leave clubs like us scraping along the bottom of the table fighting relegation.

Hopefully we get some investment, some new blood on the board and some kind of settled squad.

  2. Having watched County's last 2 games they actually looked not too bad on the ball and I was fully expecting a hard midfield shithouse type of game.

Maybe the early goal settled us and you could see the confidence begin to rise as the half progressed.

Forward instead of sideway passes, shots from distance, things we've been screaming out for.

County were shite but maybe because we made them look like that?

Just keep wondering how many more we might have scored if we had played 2 strikers but that's only a cherry on the cake thinking.

The team will be coming into training with a wee bit extra spring in their steps which can only be good.

That's certainly true. However undersoil heating didn't seem to damage the previous surface. Noย  something else is going onย  but I don't know what. I'm no groundsman.ย

You could be right as I'm only going on what one of the groundsmen I speak to most home games told me.

Maybe the undersoil heating has a worse effect on the hybrid pitch than normal grass, who knows as its the first time it's been used on the new pitch.

We've been so used to seeing a bowling green that Saturday was a bit of a shock tbf.

I do yes. Do I believe it merited ยฃ1m (as quoted) to be spent on it. No not particularly. Do I agree in the timing of that spend , no not particularly

do i believe the money could have been otherwise spend better elsewhere . Yes I do

by your response I presume your are defending that spend and have inside knowledge that it merited the spend and was the appropriate time to spend that cash? ย I also presume you agreed with the perceived added commerical revenues that were planned from the pitch that we are yet to see?

    ย

all about opinions my friend and if thatโ€™s your own stance ย then we just hold a different opinion ย

Never believed that there would be any commercial benefits from it unless we were going to host concerts or Christian conventions a la St Johnstone

I do believe it was the best decision to use the covid loan money to upgrade it as the annual maintenance costs will be roughly half of what it would have been had we kept the original pitch.

Include the money it would have cost to fix the main drain issue which could have continued and cost even more money down the line then imo it made commercial sense.

As you say, all about opinions and being able to debate and disagree.

Pitch looked better before we spunked ยฃ1m on it. Glorious failure of use of funds for meย

Seeing as you seem to know everything that's happening within the club you'll know about the issues over the main drainage and how much it was going to cost to fix it and the ongoing maintenance costs before deciding on the current set up.

You'll also know who was responsible for the extra work that was required this year to get our safety certificate.

Hammell got shafted and could have called out quite a few people in that club for broken promises and some wrong doings. Itโ€™s admirable he has kept his silence since he left.ย

    And you know that how?

    Insider knowledge or guesswork.

Butcher is improving, which is good because he was critical to our run last year. Casey returning to form would be huge.

Think people forget just how long Butcher was out for with injury and it was always going to take some time for him to get back up to the levels of last season. A couple of shaky starts but looks to be getting there.

So when are we cutting the costs on the women's team?

Well we're supposed to be a Community Club and as much as you might not like it, that includes women.

Why stop there though; why don't we do away with the walking football team, the power chair football team and all the other Community based projects and put all the money saved there into the first team squad.

We can't have it both ways.

  9. We're not skint as some people are alluding to.

We have been spending more than we're bringing in and don't want to dip into reserves to cover the deficit.

That's not a club in trouble, it's one that's taking steps to address it by trimming costs and trying to live within its means.

Does anyone really want to go back to the "Well Worth Saving" days.

  10. Ross County fans are generally positive about his time up there in terms of his coaching ability and man management skills which I don't think we can dispute during his time here.

Getting a tune out of KVV and taking a player St Johnstone fans described as the worst player they've ever seen and turning him into something resembling a decent forward supports that view imo..

The one criticism they had of him was the standard of players he brought in who didn't exactly get their fans excited so perhaps that is his weak spot with some poor summer signings which tbf he looks like he's recognised and gone some way to remedy.

If we were to bin him at this late stage would anyone fancy the gig given the present circumstances, I don't know.

We've got numbers in central defence its just that they have all been dross this season, the level of goals we concede is embarrassing.kettlewell came in last season and made us hard to beat,it's obvious he isn't able to do that this time around,we badly needed a new centre half to try and help get us going again and up the performance of the ones that have let us down all season.

Got your reply in before I'd finishedย  editing mine but we're on the same page.

Squad composition does seem a bit odd now. Definitely a bit short in central defence and up front and awash with wing backs.

Wouldn't say we were short in Central defence in terms of numbers, quality maybe.

Blaney Casey Mugabi Butcher plus McGinn and ODonnell who can also play there.

He goes into the dressing room where everyone knows he's on 7k a week while they're on less than half that.

    Not exactly a motivator.

Killie will probably be in the top 6 on current form so we play them on Saturday then don't have to give him a second thought after that.

If your happy with bottom 6 and avoiding Killie. It's not too ambitious. He was our player of the year.ย

Not happy with it but it's where we are and is what it is and no point losing any sleep over it.ย

It is about ambition and speculating. A proven goal scorer for a few grand extra that we could make back by place in table and cup run. Have also money from players we sold wilkinon and Turnbull.ย

  15. I'm glad the club didn't get involved in a crazy bidding war for Van Veen.

Killie gambling that he can hit the ground running and his goals will guarantee them a top 6 spot and possible European place (which on current form they might get anyway).

If they don't however, then its basically money spent for mid table mediocrity like us.

History tells us that people with more money than sense piling cash into a Scottish football club at any level usually ends in tears.

I'm actually more pleased at getting Devine on loan than disappointed at not getting VV.
