  1. We're in the process of having a flag made up for Athens next week and are looking for a decent sized badge to be sewn onto the flag. The only one i can think of is the the saltire flag with the 'Well badge in the middle of it.

Does anybody happen to have this flag and be willing to sell it on? Will be needing it as soon as so it's ready in time.

    Cheers in advance!

  2. Thought that we played extremely well last night and at least deserved a goal for our efforts, however a bit like the Odense home leg 2 years ago it just wasn't to be our night. The atmosphere was cracking throughout the game and if we can get the first goal next week you never know what can happen. The 2nd goal almost certainly has killed the tie off unfortunately.

Was really disappointed with their first goal, silly foul to concede by Hutchy and Randolph shouldn't be getting beat from that type of free kick.

  3. I would happily take a 0-0 draw for the first leg. At least we'd be going over there with a slight chance of going through. See some of the bookies have got odds up for the first leg;

    Motherwell 17/5

    Draw 5/2

    Panathinaikos 5/6

    (from betvictor).

  4. where did you book ? welltilidie

Through travel supermarket, selected holiday rather than flights in the search and that got hotel plus flights combined for the price.

  5. Just booked up there. 4 of us going, leaving Heathrow on the Monday night at half 8. 3 nights in the president hotel, got a rooftop swimming pool, then back on Thursday at half 5. £260. Just need to get down to London.

  6. Anyone know whether the away game will be played at the olympic stadium or panathinaikos own stadium??

Is their ground the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium?

Edit; just saw the above post. Cheapest way looks like going from London. Hotels all look pretty cheap for 4 + 5 stars.

  7. Embarrassing result and performance. Easily could of been 3 up in the first 15 minutes if Murphy had showed a bit of composure. They scored with their first attack of the match with a deflected header, then a shocker of a Humphrey passback gifted them the second. The changes at half time did nothing and poor defending from the corner resulted in a third for Ayr.

I wouldn't give anybody passmarks today as they all looked unfit with no desire to win. Ramsden looks too small for a centre back and didn't impress me at all. Hope McCall doesn't sign him but the Bradford connections might swing it in Ramsdens favour. Daley has had a handful of good games since he's been with us but there is no way he should be on a 3 year contract as he is a passenger and looked dreadful again today.

Tough one for McCall but if we are to sign one player this summer i would prefer a centre mid rather than a centre back as Hateley is better at right back with Saunders at the centre of defence. Only problem with that is the lack of experience between Hutchy and Saunders.

  8. Is Boyle not owed £300k odd from the club according to the letter that was put out with the newco vote?

If so he might be exerting more influence behind the scenes than what he ought to, if he believes that his money might be at risk by no voting the c***s back. In addition i don't seem to recollect any confirmation of him handing his shares over to the Well Society yet. All very strange with Mr Weir stepping down from his position yesterday as to what's going on.

  9. It looks like the club have over inflated the amount of income that the h**s bring to us in terms of gate receipts. The figure including vat is £360,000 and i reckon there would be no more than 8000 of them at Fir Park last season in total, say at an average cost of £20 per person this would be £133,000 net income to the club after accounting for Vat. This would mean that we bring in £167,000 (net) in from corporate hospitality over the 2 games which i highly doubt. Then you add in factors such as higher policing/stewarding/admin costs the actual value of club 12 to us has got be considerably lower than the 300k quoted.

The c***s are meant to be boycotting next season anyway so it would be an advantage to us to have, say, Dundee bringing a half decent away support as opposed to a handful of h**s, who won't travel when they see that their team aren't winning every week.

I really hope we vote no for the good of the game and if we are going to struggle financially we'll have to cut our budgets accordingly whether it be the playing staff or those that work behind the scenes at the club that have to suffer. Whichever way we vote this looks likely but if we vote yes Motherwell FC will never be the same again to many but if we do the right thing and vote no at least we can have pride in the club for making the right decision.

  10. You can get odds of 3/1 with SkyBet on United finishing third which might be worth a few bob just in case. Hopefully Hearts can do us a turn on Saturday by beating them and we can do the job against St Johnstone to put us firmly in pole position for Champions Leaugue.

As for the game i'd bring in Murphy, Lasley and Saunders to replace Daley, Carswell and Hateley. Hateleys distribution in the final third was abysmal yesterday and was lucky to get away with trying to let the ball go out for a goal kick when Mulgrew won the ball. Daley was his usual work shy self and Carswell looked out of his depth.

I would keep Ojamaa on the bench again as he was woeful again, partly at fault for their 1st goal by not tracking back and wasted possession many times. Needs to be a team player rather than trying to be the hero every time.

  11. They will likely park the bus as they did in September and make it hard for us to break them down. However we've scored 19 in our last 5 home games so we should have enough going forward with Ojamaa and Law being the key players to unlock their defence. I think its vital that we don't fall behind in this game as i fear it could be a repeat of the Inverness quarter final a few years ago if this was to happen.

I liked Reynolds when he was with us but that goes out the window on Sunday and we should get on his back from the off as i don't think he'll deal to well with abuse, hopefully lead to him having a nightmare.

Lasley back in for Daley would be the only change that i'd make.

2-0 to us. Higdon and Ojamaa with the goals. Mon the Well!

  12. Another cracking result that more or less ties up 3rd spot. Thought the first half hour was pretty dulln ot what i was expecting given the importance of the game. Once we took the lead we played some really good football and never looked like we were in any real danger even with 10 men. Hearts were atrocious and i can't see them going on a run of 3 or 4 wins to threaten us.

That was the best Murphy has played this season, lookin a lot more confident as are the whole team. Randolph is looking a premiership quality keeper more and more, never really had much to do yesterday but didn't put a foot wrong. Really has commanded his box tremendously recently and is dependable under crosses, better than Ruddy in my book. Hibs looked rotten today so hopefully we can gain another 3 points on the h**s on Wednesday. Mon the Well!

  13. What would happen if all the funds raised from the Well Society were to be used if times were to get tough? Who contributes then?

If we were to have a couple of poor seasons i.e not having a good cup run or failing to finish in the top 6 would the the money raised be able to cover any shortfall for that period.

  14. Best home performance of the season which could turn out to be a very important 3 points in the race for Europe.

The Alba pictures for the sending off look inconcluive but Craigan should never be getting involved there with the experience he has. Clancy looks far better in the centre of defence than at right back and thought he had a really good game when he came on as did the rest of the team. Ojamma gives us a spark that we've been missing recently bringing a lot more energy and hunger to the park. Good work for the goal albeit with a little help from the pitch to go over Turner.

We always looked in control of the game even with ten men with Randolph never really being tested in the second half. Thought Lasley gave away a lot of possession but he made up for it with his work rate. Hopefully we can take a bit of momentum into Saturday now and go 6 ahead of St Johnstone. Mon the Well!!

  15. I dont want to be negative on what should be a positive thread but I cant quite get my head around this.

I was against the Friday Night Football idea, for various reasons but as it was going ahead anyway I was keen to seen how the experiment would work, and would the attendance actually increase.

Now they go and (very heavily) incentiveise this match, rendering the experiment null and void.

I'm all for making fitba' cheaper and more appealing but why couldnt we have just left this match for teh Saturday and ran with the same incentives??

Totally agree with this. Maybe its a ploy by Motherwell to get back at the SPL by fucking up their experiment, like they've fucked about with us by moving kick off times and giving us an uneven split of games in the 09/10 season which possibly cost us 4th place.

  16. The stewards created a hard time for themselves by being arseholes. Nobody was complaining about the lads standing but they had to go on a power trip to justify their £6 an hour job and pick on the youngest boys to make an example of. Saw a boy being chucked out for videoing what the jobsworths were doing which was ridiculous and you can see how some of our section were riled to dish out the abuse the stewards deserved.

As soon as David Gonzalez's twin and the wee woman were taken off duty in the second half there was little to no trouble and we were allowed to stand, sing and enjoy ourselves. Could easily have been prevented if the stewards thought about their actions first instead of wading in to cause trouble.

  17. It wasn't the greatest performance but we had the fighting spirit that saw us through in the end. After we got the second goal i thought Aberdeen would equalise but we rode the storm for ten minutes then we were pretty comfortable there after with Randolph having next to nothing to deal with. Great spirit from the boys on the park and they showed how much it meant at full time. Important home games coming up which we really need to be getting 4 points from to sustain 3rd place. Mon the Well!

  18. Excellent performance yesterday and a well deserved 3 points. We cruised through the first half without having to break sweat and if we were more clinical in the second half we would of won by 3 or 4. Law was outstanding again, thought Higdon had a good game and if it wasn't for Stack he would of been on the scoresheet. Defensively we were solid with the Craigan and Clancy partnership working well.

Daley looked good when he came on and should replace Humphrey in the starting line up next week as he was a passenger again.

  19.

it's also worth remembering that he passed the ball out the park for a shy in the first minute of each half in the cup final. let's hope it was nerves rather than anything dodgy le tissier style.

Watched this back on the sky+ earlier on and it certainly looks suspcious. The first one was excusable but the one in the second half was shocking and it makes you wonder if he was at it on the most important game of his career so far. I thought there was a fair chance he was guilty when they announced his arrest but this has further enhanced my opinion and feel it would be best not to play him again until he's proven guilty or innocent.

  20. The fact he was never cleared of any wrongdoing always seemed a bit suspcious. It was risky handing him a new contract in these circumstances and maybe the reason no other team wanted to touch him. Got to question the club, i don't know if they would of been aware of an ongoing investigation but by not being cleared it left a cloud over his head.

  21. I would like to see McHugh starting up front with Higdon as he deserves his chance after his last 2 appearances where he has done extremely well. Murphy along with Higdon have not impressed much this season but Murphy should drop to the bench for this one. Sutton never got much change out of Kenneth when we played against United last season and can see it being a similar situation with Higdon if he shows the same effort that went in on Saturday.

I would be inclined to drop Jennings as well as he has been atrocious recently, but seems to get away with it, but i don't know if Forbes would be the man to play in a four man midfield. Just hope we don't play 4-5-1 again up there as we created nothing in May when they demolished us with Jeffers up front alone. 3-0 Dundee United.

  22. It was a disppointing end to an entertaining cup tie but we can take a lot of positives out of the game as well as some negatives. We started sluggishly and deserved to go behind. Thought Craigan should of made it harder for Grittiths to get the delivery in though and was he was lucky not to give away a penalty and red card when he was pulling back the wee diving scumbag c**t moments later when they should of made it 2-0.

Once we scored we looked threatening every time we ventured forward and Higdon's goal was well worked with a good finish from the big man. We should of went on from there though and killed them off but a lack of composure in front of goal cost us dearly. Defensively we were weak and Jennings abscence in midfield meant that Lasley had the work of two men to carry out, which he did very well.

Humphrey had a much better game but was still frustrating at times although he did create half a dozen good chances. Law looked the best player on the park again. Murphy was shocking and is showing the lack of consistency that will win him a move to a biggar club.

Not keen on McHugh but thought he did extremely well in the 2nd period of extra time that should justify him a place in the starting line up for Saturday ahead of Murphy. Would also bring in Forbes for Jennings who has been woefully off the pace so far this season.
