  1. Best performance of the season today for me. Although we struggled for 20 minutes after we let them back into the game, on the whole we were always in control of the game and played entertaining football to back it up.

Humphrey looks a lot more confident than what he has been and played well, there was a few occasions though that he didn't show the belief to get past his man. Law looked the part again and continues to impress in every outing. Good to see Higdon on the scoresheet again, managed to stay onside a lot more than usual.

Shocking ball from Lasley that led to their 2nd goal leaving us 4 on 3 at the back which made the last few minutes a bit nervier than what they should of been.

Top of the league we'll do what we want!

  2. Strolled it last night against poor opposition, once we got the first goal we were always going to push on and score a few. Law was the best player on the park when he was on and took his goal well. Lawless looked decent in patches but was very quiet in the second half apart from his goal.

The criticism of Humphrey seems to be a bit baffling. He did well and looked a lot more confident than in previous games. Had a couple of decent crosses, beat a few men and was unfortunate not score with his left peg.

  3. It was a relatively poor performance yesterday but we won and that's all that matterss at the end of the day. We created enough chances to win the match comfortably but Samson had a great match until he made an arse of the free kick.

The pick of the players for us would be Forbes who put in a really good shift, a lot more effort than what we've seen before. The back 4 again did well with St Mirren never really threatening apart from a couple of close calls from corners in the first half.

Humphrey was shocking again and should be dropped for Lasley next week as he is a waste of a jersey when he performs like he has done in the last few matches. Murphy was poor as well, needs to be more consistent if he's going to get move to a big team.

Great to score in the last minute and the celebrations showed how much it meant to the players and fans. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going next week and remain top of the league. Mon the Well!!!!

  4. Excellent result, got a bit nervy in the final few minutes after we squandered a number of decent openings when we were ahead that should of killed the game off.

First half was pretty quiet from both teams with Randolph pulling off a fantastic save from Drivers chip to keep it level at half time. Black been ordered off definitely swung the game for us as it gave us a lot more time on the ball and more space to exploit. Great play by Law for the goal and equally from Murphy who remained composed to finish it off.

Humphrey was frustating again, got himself into some really good positions but just lacked that killer ball or finish. Thought Craigan was outstanding at the back, seems a totally different player from last season and Hateley played a blinder as well. Mon the Well!!!!!

  5. Decent point yesterday. Killie started the better of the 2 teams and it should of been a penalty when Dayton was brought down early on. Defensively we looked pretty solid apart from a couple of poor passes from Hutchinson which could of been costly, but he made a couple of excellent blocks to his credit. Humphrey was woeful with no end product/skill at all. Best chance was with Law which really should of been squared to McHugh instead of a weak attempted chip. Credit to the Well boys again kept the singing going throughout.

  6. Murphy would struggle to make an impact on the Premiership at the moment as he doesn't have the physical build that is needed down there. Better staying with us for another season where hopefully he can get a bit of consistency into his game and sustain a high level of performance throughout the season instead of 1 good game in every half dozen matches.

  7. I posted the article from the Herald without making any comment on it,my first reaction to the article when i saw it was why the first details on probably the most important project for the club in decades were given in an interview with a newspaper, you would have thought these details might have gone up on say the official site first so that the people who are going to be asked to actually buy into this project were given the information first,or is it that no details have been finalised in which case why is a club offical giving an interview to a newspaper on the subject at all!

Agreed read the article about how St Mirren are planning to do the same by raising £2,000,000. They've just about got the funding in place and 700 fans on board paying an annual fee of £120 along with local businesses who are stumping up a lot more. Looking at it, it seems that Motherwell don't have a clear path of how they are going to achieve their strategy. It's all a bit vague and fans should of been consulted, first you would of thought, before going to the papers branding figures that may turn out to be not enough.

  8. Extremely disappointing 90 minutes yesterday, thought we matched them well until the goal but we never looked like we were going to score. McCall got it wrong big time, too much chopping and changing in the last 5 games of the season. We played at Tannadice with a 4-5-1 the other week and it did not work with no support for Sutton. Baffling why he chose to play Hammell in midfield. Humphrey hid for the full game and proved why he'll never make it at a bigger level. Ref was shocking both teams should have had players sent off.

Saw the display on the tv earlier looked absolutely tremendous. Well done to all involved in making it happen. Was a great day out apart from the game just hope we don't need to wait another 20 years to be there again. Mon the Well!

  9. We will actually end the season playing 12 more matches than Hearts and St. Mirren who played 41 matches, the lowest in the SPL.

We even played more than our cup final opponents Celtic, who, including the cup final will end up on 52.

St Mirren got to the Quarter Finals of the cup so they must have played a few more than 41.

One last big performance on Saturday please.

  10. ------------------------------Randolph--------------------------

    Ross-----------Hutchinson-----Gunning---------Hammell

    ----------------------Lasley---------Hateley--------------------

    Jones---------------------------------------------------Murphy

    ----------------------Sutton---------Jeffers------------------------

I feel we've got an excellent chance on Saturday if can continue our fine finish to Saturdays game v Hearts. Big bonus that Weiss ain't playing for them anymore as he's ripped us apart everytime this season. I thought the Ross/Jones combination worked really well down the right hand side at the weekend and would like to see them given the chance again. Jeffers will have a point to prove against his former club and hopefully the team will be right up for revenge from Februarys demolishment.

2-0 to us another Sutton double. Mon the Well!!!!!

  11. At half time yesterday i was regretting my decision to go to Tynecastle but that comeback was immense and showed that the team now have a fighting spirit that we were severely lacking in January/February. Credit to McCall he's turned things round big time and we're playing some decent fitba.

The big turning point yesterday was Webster going off at half time and we looked like we could score every time in the second half going forward. The referee was horrendous, booking Murphy for the handball was a shocking decision. Ross coming on to replace Saunders was key to the comeback as well as he showed composure and experience where Saunders was lacking in it.

Hopefully we'll book our European spot next week by destroying the h**s. Mon the Well!!!

  12. I thought Craigan made a solid start to the season up until the international break in October when he had a nightmare in the Faroes and it seems that ever since then his performances have deteriorated. He has a had few good games inbetween but he is normally a bombscare in defence putting in rash tackles due to lack of pace and his passing is very poor.

Our 2 best performances this year, keeping 2 clean sheets in the process, came when Craigan never started albeit the same defensive pairing went on to concede 3 at Inverness. However i feel we are a better team without him and it would be best for him to go in the summer.

  13. From todays Scotsman.

Motherwell captain Stephen Craigan is a target for MLS side Sporting Kansas City. The US side are keen to sign an experienced defender and have already held talks with the player's advisors

Hopefully he'll be off in the summer then.

  14. --------------------------Randolph------------------------

    Hateley---------Huthinson------Gunning----Hammell

    --------------------Jennings------Lasley--------------------

    Humphrey---------------------------------------Murphy

    ---------------------Sutton---------Jeffers------------------

As poor as St Johnstone's recent record of scoring has been they don't concede many goals either so i don't see there being much between the 2 teams on Saturday. It is important to get the ball out to Humphrey/Murphy to run at their full backs early on and hopefully draw tackles that will result in yellow cards which could be a big advantage to us.

We've been playing reasonably well for the last 4 games and that form would suggest we should reach the final, but i'm not taking anything for granted as we could perform the way we did against St Mirren 6 weeks ago and be dumped out. I'll predict a 2-0 victory for us, Murphy and Sutton to score. Mon the Well!!!!!

  15. Decent performance and result today. We were unlucky not to take all 3 points towards the end with Suttons chance but a draw was a fair result.

McCall did the right thing in resting the players who were carrying knocks and it was a good opportunity for Carswell and Casagolda to show what hey can do. Was quite impressed with Carswell thought he competed well in midfield and used the ball well. Casagolda was poor, maybe a bit isolated, every time the ball came near him it just bounced off him.

Top marks to Randolph and Hutchinson, who was again excellent at the back. Mon the Well!!!

  16. Superb performance, was fearing the worst going into last night but was delighted with the way we played. Every single player put in a shift for us which makes a huge difference. If we can play like that against St Johnstone in the semi final then we should be winning comfortably but you just can't predict what Motherwell will turn up these days. Hopefully the players will still be buzzing going into Saturday and destroy that Auld prick Broon. Mon the Well!!!

  17. It might come down to Motherwell having to request Dundee Utd to rearrange it. It wouldn't surprise me if they were to turn it down though, if they see their chances of getting through a lot better with us missing Craigan and Randolph.

Hutchinson and Gunning might also get called up for their nations U21s games which would make it a lot more difficult.

  18. Happy with the result. I thought we played really well today and were slightly unfortunate not to have won the game.

Hammell, Gunning, Lasley and Sutton all had great games, Hammell especially i thought he adapted very well to playing at left mid. Bad defending at both goals but there was a lot of plus points today.

Cracking atmosphere and game. Hopefully more of the same for the replay with us reaching the semi final. Mon the Well!
