  1. Might be a good idea for the club to put on buses for this game as half the gate money comes our way. So putting on buses would encourage more well fans to travel and it is only 25/30 minutes along the M8. £20 for a ticket and travel would be a good shout.
  2. Pretty sure parking restriction only apply between 8:00am and 6:00pm so parking should be fine for well fans in central parking areas. Just don't try to park in McDonald car park. Brilliant draw for me as I only live up the road from the stadium.
  3. Can I ask who set up the goal up? The player that contributed zilch, nadda, nothing. Unfair on the lad as one of the very few players that does actually go forward. For sure, still work in progress and things will have to improve.
  4. Absolutely spot on. If these players fit into the over all budget then we should try to sign the best quality available to us but if that compromises the future financial security of the club then I am 100% against it.Players come and go and as Stuart McCall has said he signs the best he can with the budget he has been given. And that's all he can do which is fine and hopefully having quality players at the club will only help to teach the younger players coming through. If we can't create an over draft fund for the club then should the club just increase season ticket prices 40-50-100 pounds a season because that is what will have to happen or we find another John Boyle.
  5. It is very important that we get behind the club as much as we can to help the directors manage the finances. Unfortunately football business is all based on if buts and maybes. But in business and in football you sometimes need to speculate to accumulate. Which I think the directors at the club have tried to do over the last 5 or six years which has brought some fantastic results and success for our football club.. The one thing that does concern me is the fact that if the club are indeed struggling why sign a centre half we didn't really need and a James McFadden we can't afford. If you can't afford a Porsche you buy something cheaper. That's just the way of the world and having an economist on the board you would think we would have figured that one out. Any way I have joined the well society as I could see the merit in it I just hope we can get many more to join if they can. I believe the well society can be paid for with instalments as well. At the moment we are in a safer place than Hearts are and we need to keep it that way. If you can, please join the well society. It's about securing the long term future of our Football Club.
  6. My vote goes to any of the cheerleaders. More movement and creativity than the whole team put together. Don't know what is up with faddy at the moment. Ok, right side ain't his position but needs to get the head up.
  7. Excellent victory today. A lot of side ways football from us today. Which I suppose is ok if you can retain possession and we did in the main. Vguirs and Lawson just need to sharpen there games up a bit, both got caught in possession a little too often for my liking. What a difference when anier and ZFA came on, offered that out ball that was missing for most of the game. Lasley again just worked and worked and Hollis did his confidence no harm with a great save although very central. Anier was fantastic when he came on. Started to drag the hibs defence all over the place and would defo start with him against FC Kuban and Aberdeen.
  8. Just gutted for all at the club. You could see the dissappointment from our chief exec to the bench to the fans. Fantastic seeing so many inside fir park again. Great atmosphere. The team played well at times but you could see Kuban had that little bit extra composure on the ball. We tended to rush things. If we manage to score against them in Russia it will be a miracle. There keeper is huge. One last thing. Never seen so many police horses at fir park before. What was that all about? Police Scotland try to get as much money out of scottish football as possible?
  9. Just hoping we keep it tight and keep our concentration for the first half hour. We have been unstuck too many times by being too enthusiastic, losing our shape and conceding cheap goals then spend the rest of the game trying to break down a ten man defence. Would play Gunnar in goal with a back three with wing backs. Would need to drop hammy for that though and play ZFA on the left. Midfield of las, Lawson and viguirs with Henri up top and faddy floating in behind. Subs hollis, Sutton, hammy, hchugh, carswell, Murray, Erwin
  10. Hopefully the well society is a long term thing for the club so if you can stick £15 a month away you would have the membership fee in 20 months. I know, hard to do if you just don't have that spare a month. I think a big problem is getting folk to see the well society as the club and the club as the well society. You put your money into the well society, your putting your money into the club. You put your money into the club then the club will be less reliant on hand outs from the well society. The main thing is our club benefits either way.
  11. Interesting to find put different supporter views. It seems it is going to take a long time to convince enough people to join so that our club can have a more stable future. Personally there are various ways this can happen. We as supporters can stump up for the well society to give our club a safety buffer in times of unexpected expense. our club could charge more for season tickets, food, programmes, MFCTV and the like and use that extra money to build a financial buffer. If the club sold a player, which is rare these days a percentage of the money should be ring fenced as a financial buffer as should any money earned from progression in any cup competitions. A consortium of local business people could invest together to build a financial buffer.Or all of the above. The problem in football is nothing is set in stone and all we can do is to support the club in which every way we choose. The main thing is we support the club. The well society in my opinion is a good thing for our club and has raised in the region of 400 grand. The more members of the well society and the more people we can get to support our club means a better future all round.
  12. Was just wondering if there is anyone reading this message board who is a motherwell diehard who still hasn't signed up to the well society? I know things are tight finacially for a lot of us at the moment but if you can manage to sign up or get your kids to sign up that would be fantastic. Is there other ways the well society can raise funds?Say prize draws or collection tins at the kiosks. I still need to get my second son signed up which I am going to do fairly soon. Every little helps Every new motherwell player should be made to become a member when they sign. With £100 taken off there wages in the first three months. Would be good gesture from the players.
  13. I think beer at games in Scotland will have to be explored at some point but to be honest I don't think we will see it at scottish grounds for a long time. Drinking beer at a preseason friendly and spl games is worlds apart. If you could restrict the amount of alcohol served to an individual then it might work. If you could buy a maximum of two beer tokens on entry to the ground then this would go some way to solving this.I think we will just have to rely on European games and friendliest in England for the time being.
  14. if we get Faddy on board as well there must be a chance we could actually win something. The only thing that worries me is so many of us starting to become confident for the season ahead. Any well fan out there swithering whether to get a season ticket should get themselves down to the ticket office in the morning and purchase on ASAP . Going to be a cracker of a season.
  15. Yes that stat is impressive. Master stroke letting kids have free tickets for all stands. I now see lots of grandparents bringing there grandchildren to games as a lot of parents work weekends now. If we can get the away supporters to start coming back as well that would be impressive. Two seasons left to work on getting a bigger fan base with rangers out of the top league. Our time is know!
  16. If McCall does leave and after watching Alloa against Dunfermline. Paul Hartley would be my shout. Alloa play in a very similar manner to us, they keep the ball on the ground and try to pass the ball. I do think he would fit the motherwell mould. Just seems like a natural progression.
  17. According to the well society members gallery 1150 members to date. Not bad. The introduction of a payment scheme would certainly help. Think we need some action on this front.
  18. The two of them certainly haven't raised £400,000. The motherwell supporters have raised that money by digging deep. That money was raised before the board members of the society were even board members. That money is the total raised by people joining the society. The press getting things wrong again. Surprise, surprise. The hard work starts now. We need at least another 2 thousand well fans to join up to the well society to get any were near our 1.5 million target. Going to be a big ask indeed. It could well take 5 to 10 years to reach that target in today's financial climate. If you haven't joined, for what ever reason and you can, please do as it is vital to the societes success. Also renewals all add to the pot. Would be interesting to find put out how many Well fans have signed up to the society in the last six month? Probably not a lot.Got to keep the momentum going.
  19. If away fans continue not to travel our budget will continue having to be cut. When we are getting 164 st Johnstone fans, 180 odd Inverness fans, 170ish Ross county fans and so called big city clubs like Dundee Utd and hearts bring 350 fans for games at fir park then what else can we do but to cut our budgets further. Motherwell try very hard to get people along but when so many people's personal budgets are pushed to the max football has become a luxury for many football fans.It has not been a secret that we need to sell players and do well in the cup competitions to keep progressing on a financial level. This did not happen this year and add to that the change in the second place prize money and the money we were cheated out of by Rangers last season this amounts to at least a couple of million we has lost out on. No doubt we will see players leave and they won't be replaced by seasoned pros but by ZFA, Stuart Carswell, Bob McHugh and others. Next season will be the season that Stuart McCall will have to earn every penny of his wages not that he doesn't at the moment.
  20. That seems about right. I thought it was about 1.2m but what's 100 grand these days.Hopefully we can get a few European games to swell the budget for next year.

    Celtic

Keith Lasley was for me was just ahead of everyone else. He worked hard all day long, winning tackles and set up henrick for his goal.
  22. I am in the same situation mate. I phoned the club today and they have a gate open at half time so you should be cool.
  23. Derek townsley and Kevin twaddle? Seriously always enjoyed the Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell show. Win lose or draw its going to be one hell of a show.
  24. As far as I can make out since the split was created it has only helped to weaken the other city clubs because once they end up in the bottom six revenue drops for the last round of games. This has brought benefits to the Kilmarnocks and motherwells of the league. In terms of revenue and fan base hibs hearts Aberdeen and Dundee united should by right have the best challenge to Celtic but hey just don't, so who's fault is that. It's not the league set up its the directors of the clubs in question and there mismanagement of their clubs. Motherwell and others have shown that by putting the right people in charge of the football side of things teams can be relatively successful. No one person can sort our game but the Scottish game needs strong leaders. Regan and Doncaster are in my opinion the wrong people to sort this mess out. The clubs cannot be aloud to map the destiny of our nation game because there is too much self interest. We need an independent body to do it with no connection to any club. The one up one down set up of our league is no good. This has helped to cripple so many teams. Once a team gets relegated they have very little chance of coming back up in the first second or third season in that division. This has created a fear factor for clubs in the top league and are now unwilling to change. This fear factor has also helped to stiffle the growth of the youth players coming through. Look at how many clubs are littered with none scottish players, our team included. Meaningful games are all well and good but how do we develop our youth players because again teams are frightened of failure. Send them to Dumbarton? They need to get games in the first team. Spl teams are starting to have to use there youth players to help with the financial problems they are having. As a motherwell fan of 35 years or so the most satisfaction I get from watching my club is seeing players like carswell, Murphy, Hutchinson, Hammell, Lasley, O'Donnell, McFadden and many others come through the youth system and make a name for themselves. Tommy McLean was great at team building as is Alex ferguson as is Stuart mcCall. They use youth and experience to build a team. Alex ferguson could probably buy all of his players from other clubs but still chooses to bring youth through and give them a chance. It's all about timing and knowing when they are ready. Our game is at ground zero and time for everyone to accept it. Stop chasing the impossible dream and sort our game out.Two leagues in Scotland 18-20. Two teams get promoted two teams get relegated then play offs between 16th and 3rd. 15th and 4th. Sensible pricing, with sensible kick off times and dare I say it beer tokens that can be bought on entry so you can at least have two beers whilst watching the footie. Bring back the derby weekends when all derbies were on the same weekend and give away teams a percentage of their travelling supports gate money. And a discount card for away fans that clubs could give different discounts. Either money off, bring a friend for half price, bring your kids for free or even just discounted food.Make it easy for fans to attend games in stead of having to walk half way round a stadium to buy at ticket then walk half way back round again to then gain entry. Kilmarnock FC take note. It's a joke.League cup with two legged games at quarter final and semi final stages. And decent tv coverage from the bbc Scotland. Sports scene is dire. BBC alba is better.Lots more I could add but even I am getting bored. Someone please get it sorted before it is too late.
