Dundee's McGhee agrees pre-contract to join Motherwell Image source,S Jordan McGhee has won promotion to the Scottish Premiership twice during his time at Dundee Nick McPheat BBC Sport Scotland Published 14 minutes ago Dundee's Jordan McGhee has agreed a pre-contract deal to join Motherwell this summer. The Fir Park side, who have a number of key players out injured, could explore bringing the versatile 28-year-old to the club this month. The former Hearts and Falkirk player, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has spent more than five years at Dens Park, making more than 180 appearances and winning top-flight promotion twice. McGhee, who can play in defence and midfield, is currently out with a hamstring issue but is expected to return soon, meaning a potential January arrival could ease Stuart Kettlewell's injury concerns. The Well manager confirmed on Thursday that captain Paul McGinn and left-back Steve Seddon are among several players facing spells out, which also includes influential midfielder Lennon Miller. Kettlewell, who has already brought in young midfielder Kai Andrews and goalkeeper Archie Mair on loan this window, says the club are "working endlessly" as they aim to "strengthen the group". "But I can't really put a timescale on that," he added prior to his side's Scottish Cup trip to St Johnstone on Saturday. "What I can finish off by saying is the club have been supportive". Dundee, who face city rivals Dundee United in their fourth-round tie on Monday, have strengthened their squad this month by acquiring defensive duo Aaron Donnelly and Ilmari Samuels, plus midfielder Cesar Garza. On further potential transfer business, Dens Park boss Tony Docherty says he is "hoping there might be movement on one other". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c74mxge9n8xo

It looks like the temperature at kick off is set to be around -5C. Fans are being asked to part with £27 (or £30 on the gate!) to sit outside in these conditions. Coming on the back of Christmas, and at the start of a run of consecutive away games, no wonder we have hardly sold any tickets.

https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2025/01/06/buses-running-for-cup-tie/ We are aware that there are no trains running to Perth from Motherwell on Saturday 18 January, the day of our fourth round tie against St Johnstone. While there are replacement bus services, we want to make it as easy as possible for our supporters to make such a crucial match. As such, we have got two buses running from Fir Park to McDiarmid Park. The price is £15 per person. The Cooper Bar will be open from 11.30 for refreshments, with coaches leaving at 13.15. To book, please visit our ticketing platform. Alternatively, call us on 01698 333333 or email tickets@motherwellfc.co.uk.

It's because UEFA adopt a policy of strict liability, holding clubs directly responsible for fan misbehaviour. Obviously the Scottish footballing authorities will never follow suit.

Some nice comments from Simo on his time at Motherwell https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy9195z131o "I have been dreaming of it," said Valakari. "I never took it for granted that I would come back here, but when I started my coaching career one of my things was 'yes, one day I would like to coach in Scotland'. "I started my professional career here so it was always a special place in my heart and how I see Scottish football, how I see this culture, everyone is breathing football. That is what I have been missing in my last positions. "Without Motherwell, I would not go to the Premier League, without Motherwell I would not go to the MLS, without Motherwell more likely I would not have played for the Finnish national team. Motherwell made me the player that I was."
