It is believed that the bid included no upfront payment, but instead proposed modest performance-related fees. Right-back Davies is out of contract at the end of the League of Ireland season, so Motherwell have the option of waiting until January and getting him for nothing.

It was announced last week that Scotland's head of referees Crawford Allan is to leave his post at the end of the season as the Scottish FA conducts a review of the role in light of ongoing VAR controversies.
