Genuine question for those who seem the most concerned about 5 draws. Assuming our points were same after 5 games would you prefer that it had been based on 1 win, 2 draws, and 2 losses? Eg not inconceivable that games played out differently and we lost to Rangers and Killie (were down in both games) beat Hearts drew StM and Dundee
-
Likewise as a fan but fortunately JBA hasn’t shown any sign of that type of thinking and seems to be instilling that belief in the players. I think all of them will want to ‘make amends’ for not winning at Hearts - not just one player. oh and I doubt they’ll give a flying f about Kettlewell.
-
Pretty sure Bruno Fernandez joined Udinese when he was 18 and has done alright with career moves. Seems like a decent squadra for Lennon to develop at without immediate pressure of some of the bigger Italian clubs.
-
As others have said I reckon we’ll have some joy against teams who don’t just sit in but that also means they are more likely to be those who take advantage of our higher risk approach. Heart says 5th with far more good results and ‘nearly’ draws. Head says 8th with some real highs along the way but ultimately stifled by the SPL drudgery and frustrating losses.

Where in Italy are you calling from? 😉

Stenny only had three subs last night -2 trialists and a goalie. They may have some more signings for Saturday but it must be a game for our strikers to get their accounts up and running.

Interesting how Watt’s performance has split opinion. I wonder what the his expected role is. I can see him more in a deeper role initiating the play with Slatts and Faddy expected to be more dynamic in their movement. Tonight it didn’t quite click between them.
-
True, not writing him off by any means, only that I didn’t think he had anywhere near a ‘superior player’ type of game.
-
Fadinger had a bit of bite, some deft touches, and good movement into the box and finally got reward.
-
Surprised you mentioned Watt. I thought he had a couple of good touches but I thought largely ineffective and wasteful.
-
And at left back as well it is perfect weather for a meltdown or two certainly 🫠

He remains a legitimate point of discussion for that very reason and he manages in the same division so we will come across him. He’s had plenty of opportunity, and will likely have again, to recant on his reasons for leaving. For the sake of his new wife I hope he doesn’t behave in his personal life as he did in his professional, as an apparent total lack of insight into personal limitations and willingness to acknowledge mistakes never bodes well for a strong relationship. On the other hand, as a Well fan, I hope he carries on his managerial career as he left us as that will guarantee a Killie side fighting relegation.
-
Almost guaranteed we’ll get hammered by Killie with midfield dream team of Polwarth and Paton with a couple of stunners and taking turns to slip Moses in for a brace.
-
Glad to see Blaney head to Livi. He’s not going to make them stronger. If we had recruited like they have so far I suspect this forum would be in depths of despair.

I think people are forgetting McGinn’s minimal appearances last season were mostly at centre back., Apart from Hearts game he was pretty woeful. Another year older and greater likelihood of breaking down again I don’t see him as a regular starter in the type of game the new manager seems to want to play. I think he is definitely one I’d be looking to offload/ loan to championship side and bring in fresh legs.

It could be a discussion with the sponsor though about size and placement. Agree with point that overall the financials will drive whether it is worth a sponsor free option but some replica strips being sold are iconic because of sponsor association with that season. Tbf I don’t see G4Claims being the same as Sharp/Brother/Carlsberg/Jeep/Pirelli/Ian Skelly etc are in a few years but if we win the cup in 2026 who knows.
-
I too am in this minority. David made the point that we have a distinctive colour palette and that gives us the freedom to experiment more and still be Motherwell. If the Newcastles, Notts County’s, Grimsbys, St. Mirrens Juventus etc of the world were so happy with their “traditional” B&W stripes they wouldn’t be constantly changing their number, width, pattern, and colours of trim.
-
I don’t know why likes of Newcastle keep getting referenced as not changing their kit. the number of black stripes on home kit changed every year from 2020 as has the extra trim, inc colour variants. Celtic also have wild variety of bizarre takes on hoops in recent years. Whether we agree or not it’s the nature of commercial income these days. I just wish we’d keep the same manager for at least the length of time a kit is on sale

Maybe we should go all out for the sponsorship approach like Lukas’ old club Rheindorf Altach! something strangely appealing and continental
-
Any away from combo below would suit me thanks QP (it’s my home game) Kelty Hearts (never been) Spartans (daughter’s nearby) EK (my other home game)
-
Wow - Rangers have dropped Butland for Kelly - against Athletic Club - tactical genius or Trump like delusion from Bazza! And I know he didn’t actually ever play professionally for us but good luck to Bailey Rice
-
Well it sort of does if he had let them in but I agree with your point. I’m absolutely for Ox coming back if he’s fit, esp as he is our player, although he was prone to parrying a few back in danger areas himself.
-
Quite glad to see Simo (and his approach) pay dividends esp against that lot. Will be more concerned if Killie get result next week. We want a full on onslaught to destroy their goal difference 😆
-
According to stats Balcombe made 8 saves yesterday, his highest of any game this season. Maybe he didn’t save when mattered but does suggest that it’s the defence & midfield allowing the opportunities rather than the goalie position which is the bigger issue. TBH I’d be happy if we didn’t spend the money appealing Balmer’s red.
-
We won’t be automatically relegated but distinct possibility we don’t win again this season and that’ll likely mean playoff place.
