  1. Was at game with my 9 year old son. We moved section not to get away from noisy but enthusiastic drumming but from "adult" fans who progressed from a distinct lack of imagination in their adjectives to even more offensive nouns. I didn't see what started things off but the police response looked totally disproportionate to whatever was going on. Even if the steward was drunk on power there were several testosterone hyped younger police officers who should be better trained and supervised. I take previous poster's point comparing football to gig and think that yes this is the best match to "positively" protest the way football fans are perceived and treated.
  2. I can understand the bad feeling towards Brown if NB does go to Aberdeen (i don't think it will help NB's career much) but on the other hand i don't get the comments that NB wasn't trying in the last 6-8 weeks. What i saw of him was the opposite - yes things weren't running for him but that goes for most of the team and you could definitely see his passion for the cause in the Hearts game. So if Nick you are reading come back to Motherwell - there are many who appreciate what you can contribute, the players know you and you know you can work well with them plus the journey to Aberdeen is a f'ing nightmare.
  3. unlikely since their top is mainly white this season
  4. Dinamo Zagreb Odense Lokomotiv Moscow Man city Fenerbahce Villarreal (if pot of six)
  5. looks like we have a choice of Dinamo Zagreb Odense Lokomotiv Moscow Man city Fenerbahce Villarreal (if pot of six)
  6. What you mean is that it's the most important thing for the sponsor's ego. I expect Clydesdale bank are happier having their name announced to a wider viewing and listening public than just a few thousand fans seeing their logo at every game.
  7. surely the strips that the fans wear are not the main priority for sponsor logo/name to be on. if we have no sponsor on the strip for the live tv game where the cameras will mostly be on the players shirts then we can start to panic. plus many people on this forum were willing to pay more for sponsorless strip so the club have satisfied that demand without increase in price. if/when we get a sponsor i'm sure you will be able to go and get a transfer added to your sponsorless shirt if you so desire.
  8. no sponsor on Euro kit from photo on main site - seems a missed opportunity
  9. Glad to see SPL have confidence that our pitch work is going to hold up. 3 home fixures on consecutive Saturdays in January! Also none in March (bar potential cup?) when the weather is improving.
  10. While I obviously agree in principle that an attacking midfielder shouldn't follow the ball in at a free kick lest he give the assistant referee an opportunity to flag him offside I feel that the criticism of Forbes is unjustified. There are far greater culprits whose actions could have prevented an offside decision. Craigan had ample opportunity to slice his shot wide - he could, with a bit of thought on his part, just taken a wild swipe and missed it completely. My opinion is that it is Hately's fault on 2 accounts 1. his free kick - he could easily have played it into McGregors hands, into a ruck of players, or to be safe just thumped it high and wide. 2. he scored from the free kick in the first half. surely if Well were not leading 1-0 the linesman might have thought twice about flagging even given the unfortunate onside antics of Craigan and Forbes. Rangers

wouldn't argue against any for mom but voted for Sutton as he did an immense amount of work in attack, midfield and defence. JT
  12. mmm seems like more than journalistic speculation - a wee bit of unofficial spin coming from MFC to give us an insight into some of the issues behind the decision, perhaps?
  13. Agree wholeheartedly. We'll never know if he had the ability to develop his philosophy but we do know he wasn't able to impose it. He stated that you needed to treat players as individuals to get the best out of them but didn't seem to act that way.
  14. This is just nonsense. No-one would realistically expect us to beat Celtic and we are not the only team to have been given a going over at Ibrox but against St. Johnstone Gannon played players out of position, needlessly changed tactics and made some bizarre substitutions. So are you saying that the great Jim Gannon having left Craigan out of the team for weeks miraculously coached him into playing a left centre role and it was Craigan's fault that he couldn't play to Gannon's masterplan. Any manager worth his salt knows that playing his players in their best positions will get the best out of them. I think it's closer to the truth to say that despite our young and emerging team doing their best they were increasingly let down by a manager who thought/still thinks he is better than he is. I will be very surprised if the next job you see Jim Gannon get is with any team higher than English League 1.

    New Manager

Not just that but experience working with (and motivating) young players would seem ideal. Possiblity of a shared post - helping out with U21s at match times? If nothing else the SFA owe JB for getting rid of Gannon
  16. Seriously? If Gannon expects to run a football club for 3 years with no-one else having a say I suggest he look at his local boys team - although I'm not sure the teenagers would put up with his obvious huffing and mood swings. He has shown himself in a really bad light over the last six weeks or so. If he has talent as a coach he is going to have to learn some basic diplomacy skills to make a good manager anywhere.
  17. Was the Everton link because Moyes and Gannon get on or just the proximity of Stockport previously. Surely Everton and the 2 players will care more about their player development than the JG link. If we appoint a new manager quickly and they/Moyes see that Motherwell is not going to be a complete mess then it may suit both to stay. fingers
  18. Positives - - we're not bottom of the league. - he didn't get a chance to completely destroy the playing staff during January before sodding off. Believe it or not I'm being optimistic!
  19. obviously the mere sight of the messaih inspired Stockport to come back from 1 down to lead 2-1. oh whoops they've thrown it away. welcome home Jim
  20. He's a relatively young man and younger manager. It would be in his and our best interests if he spent a bit of time reflecting on his own performance sooner rather than later. I hope that his comments yesterday don't result in wholescale player changes - never mind top six I think rebuilding a team from scratch from Jan onwards is a recipe for relegation. When Gannon goes onto other things I will still be a Motherwell fan and I don't want Well just to be a learning experience for him which resulted in Div 1 for us.
  21. echo this. craigan on right reynolds on left seems to be our most solid centre pairing. saunders on right reynolds on left seems to be way forward for passing game/greater mobility. playing craigan, reynolds and saunders (at right back) out of position other than when absolutely necessary doesn't make for either stability or longer term progress.
  22. I was at the game but came to the same conclusion after Gannon's comments. Absolutely no grasp of reality. It was his decision to play players out of position, his team talk and tactics changes at half time and his choice of substitutions. not just a heat of the moment interview either since MFC have published it. Regardless of the arguments over booing or otherwise I suspect your own manager telling the world that you'll never keep a clean sheet is a real motivator - bound to inspire Ruddy to stay at Well I would imagine. I'm not saying Gannon should go but he needs to accept that maybe he has something to learn about management and not just blame the players.
