Positives - - we're not bottom of the league. - he didn't get a chance to completely destroy the playing staff during January before sodding off. Believe it or not I'm being optimistic!

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
purestate replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
obviously the mere sight of the messaih inspired Stockport to come back from 1 down to lead 2-1. oh whoops they've thrown it away. welcome home Jim -
He's a relatively young man and younger manager. It would be in his and our best interests if he spent a bit of time reflecting on his own performance sooner rather than later. I hope that his comments yesterday don't result in wholescale player changes - never mind top six I think rebuilding a team from scratch from Jan onwards is a recipe for relegation. When Gannon goes onto other things I will still be a Motherwell fan and I don't want Well just to be a learning experience for him which resulted in Div 1 for us.

echo this. craigan on right reynolds on left seems to be our most solid centre pairing. saunders on right reynolds on left seems to be way forward for passing game/greater mobility. playing craigan, reynolds and saunders (at right back) out of position other than when absolutely necessary doesn't make for either stability or longer term progress.

Why Can't Some Of Our Fans See The Bigger Picture?
purestate replied to nethertonwellfan's topic in Club Chat
I was at the game but came to the same conclusion after Gannon's comments. Absolutely no grasp of reality. It was his decision to play players out of position, his team talk and tactics changes at half time and his choice of substitutions. not just a heat of the moment interview either since MFC have published it. Regardless of the arguments over booing or otherwise I suspect your own manager telling the world that you'll never keep a clean sheet is a real motivator - bound to inspire Ruddy to stay at Well I would imagine. I'm not saying Gannon should go but he needs to accept that maybe he has something to learn about management and not just blame the players. -
Apologies - from where I was (M) it looked like ref was talking to him with book out but maybe that was just recording the goal.
-
He was booked for the celebration. He was then trying (genuinely I think) to apologise which of course just made some fans even madder!
-
today certainly wasn't his best - he got away with a clearance in the first half when he was well outside his area but two defenders were covering the hibs player (lucky it was lumbering Nish)
-
We let Hibs play to their strengths and we were lucky to get away with only 3 against. first time in league I would question managers tactics - Lukas on right wing was ineffectual and o'Brien has worked best when going up the left side with Hammell and Forbes for support - we tried JOB in middle against ICT and it didn't really work. Still, I agree with the bad day at office comments - hopefully we learn from Hibs how to turn the attacking play into goals and give Falkirk a going over.

notice Nicholas Bignall went to Stockport today (Monday) does that mean Stockport need to offload to balance the squad allowance?
-
now confused. i was initially asking why to link to Corry Evans. is he a contender for right back loan?
-
going for it - nice to see

JG definitely takes a different approach to MM. Part of that is personality but I think also part is probably his age. Early 40s is big difference from 50s in how the older players might perceive the manager. MM was more of an (elder) statesman to all players. JG not so much with the likes of Hammell, Lasley and Craigan - definitely a different dynamic and something both sides have to work through. A bit too early to say anyone should be leaving just yet.

I think you're right. Another 8 would give us 25 first team squad (not including Saunders/Slane/Page). Not affordable I would have thought unless there are a few to make way.
-
I think one other positive thing the Europa cup entry did was to ensure that JB and the board didn't take too long looking for a manager. I think they went about it well and we seemed to have a good selection of candidates but the temptation might have been to let it drag on if we hadn't had the competitive games looming. Even if the result was the same I reckon it would have meant some of JG's target players would have already have been snapped up elsewhere. (and someone was trying to force Prozac down my throat on another thread - don't need it now!)
-
1-0 well during the 90 and a couple more in extra time.
-
Purely judging by the squad numbers allocated these guys will be expected to be in the starting 11. I see from official page that Saunders and Slane are still in the under 19s. Is this maybe just a website update/age thing or more of an indication that they will be squad only and not regular starters - especially if 4+4 still to come.
-
did they hear that we like to drp ltters frm our name/ground? still better than my Albanian
-
I hope also that the couple of competitive matches will be a leveller for the conditions that we aren't used to. The main thing will be to keep it tight and make sure their young players don't get any encouragement from a positive start. We've already shown the team can play possession football. this will work in our favour in the heat and not as much expectation on us to chase the game in an away leg. oh and an away goal would be nice
-
Appreciate the extra bit of detail around the replicas. Now since I seem to be the only person interested in what our away kit might be I'll leave this thread alone and concentrate on the match threads.
-
sounds promising. great of those with streams/p2p/whatever could keep these boards up to speed with what's happening. C'mon the Well!
-
I agree. i don't think the club or PSL are out to mislead - I'm just interested in the detail that's all. and to take Steve's point about timing, I'm not necessarily looking for an immediate answer, especially on a match day. Just posing the question and hoping it will be answered.

the usual sarky post however as another poster has commented why do we have these boards for fans of the club if we are just going to wait for an official announcement every time. part of the "fun" of supporting a club is to get into the miniscule elements. there are also plenty of discussion forums available to discuss the wider state of the economy, impact of redundancies etc. I share your empathy with people in these circumstances however it's not the main subject of these forums.
