  1. Indeed and if McG isn't sure where to play him he could try striker. At least two shots on target from JC tonight (one from own half.
  2. Can live with blue but pity orange on logo couldn't have been adjusted to Amber. 'The car....' in white after all
  3. I think format's got potential to be quite intriguing and actually more chance for smaller teams with 3 points being awarded in each game however carved up. So previously 1 90min win and 1 90 min loss = 3pts against 2x 90 min draws = 2pts. Now a couple of draws and one/two penalty shootout lottery wins = 3/4pts. I'm inclined to think tactics may be less to play for draw and risk other team getting extra point than go for win in 90 mins.
  4. Just watched a bit of Turkish cup final. What about a mock up of Amber and claret top with black shorts and claret socks in similar colour mix (if not shirt design) to Galatasary
  5. Look on bright side, even if not top 6 there is no combination of results which means we can be in bottom two.
  6. McManus solid throughout but really not much beyond others who had so-so games. Pearson, and bit less so, Hammell were poor. Do we also need a Villian of the match poll? ☹️
  7. Main problem in substitutions was that Pearson should not have been on the park at the end. Fine take off Moult before he got booked or worse but leavingbPearsin on cost us. He made umpteen mistakes in 1st half and it was his piss poor clearance under no pressure whatsoever that got pushed out to the right for Lawless shot. If Cadden had panicked and halve hoofed the ball pathetically like that people would say he was too inexperienced/ lack of composure etc. Pearson rotten and bad decision by manager to leave him on.
  8. Reflection on yesterday that it was one of those days that nothing quite went right and common minor errors led to us losing two goals. It could have gone the other way and in other games we've got the result that we didn't "deserve". I wrote Hearts off as a fluke combined with baffling team and formation choices, and I'd write yesterday off as unlucky but not catastrophic. Other results went as well as we could have hoped in circumstances so we haven't lost much ground and Caddens performance shows that he has distinct promise.
  9. Don't agree with all the naysayers re Chalmers. He seems to have enough skill and athleticism to be a viable replacement for Hammel. He got caught out positionally and in the attack that led to 2nd goal yesterday but others in defence didn't stop the header/cut out the cross. Losing a goal is rarely attributable to only one player and if people want to look at moves leading to events they should also then look at senior players (Lasley) for first goal. Again like Cadden an extended run in the team may well be the making of him. I hope his confidence is up enough to come in if Stevie H is injured but otherwise we need to give him game time once we are safe.
  10. Cadden did enough yesterday to suggest he is a viable replacement as box to box player. His running and athleticism are natural attributes which not everyone has. He loves ones skilful enough and was unlucky with a couple of attempts. His positional awareness wasn't totally there but that will get better with game time in games at this level. Very encouraging.
  11. Alonso Angol. Joys of autocorrect
  12. Brown did what any manager would surely have achieved with the squad he inherited as the performances in January (cup excluded) after a shocking December when Gannon was obviously losing it were probably as much about relief from the players as anything else. His tactics were terrible and we scraped top 6 and finished 09/10 badly with Euro qualification down to Utds cup win. I'll give you Randolph as a positive but then minus Hollis, similarly Blackman loan cancelled out by Casagolda/Gow. Losing both legs against Odense with only goal scored in injury time is not a "bawhair" from qualification. Anyway apart from my obvious dislike for Brown, my point is that I don't just want a journeyman to "stabilise" what is I think a reasonable squad with potential, I would prefer a manager with a bit of ambition.
  13. I don't know why so many people rate, or would want a caracter like Brown. He only appeared half decent based on what he followed but we didn't move on with him and were in the same position when he left as when he came. A despicable man who was worse than McGhee when it came to tarting himself around. At least you could argue McGhee was at a stage in his career where it was a reasonable attitude to look for a "bigger" club and ones he had some affiliation with. Brown did NOTHING for Motherwell. I'd rather have an ambitious manager who tried something than a pathetic steadying of ship whose only aspiration is to avoid relegation.
  14. Are we expecting to hear anything from the Board meeting this evening? Unofficially or otherwise? Do we know if it even took place and if so is finished?
  15. Was at game with my 9 year old son. We moved section not to get away from noisy but enthusiastic drumming but from "adult" fans who progressed from a distinct lack of imagination in their adjectives to even more offensive nouns. I didn't see what started things off but the police response looked totally disproportionate to whatever was going on. Even if the steward was drunk on power there were several testosterone hyped younger police officers who should be better trained and supervised. I take previous poster's point comparing football to gig and think that yes this is the best match to "positively" protest the way football fans are perceived and treated.
  16. I can understand the bad feeling towards Brown if NB does go to Aberdeen (i don't think it will help NB's career much) but on the other hand i don't get the comments that NB wasn't trying in the last 6-8 weeks. What i saw of him was the opposite - yes things weren't running for him but that goes for most of the team and you could definitely see his passion for the cause in the Hearts game. So if Nick you are reading come back to Motherwell - there are many who appreciate what you can contribute, the players know you and you know you can work well with them plus the journey to Aberdeen is a f'ing nightmare.
  17. unlikely since their top is mainly white this season
  18. Dinamo Zagreb Odense Lokomotiv Moscow Man city Fenerbahce Villarreal (if pot of six)
  19. looks like we have a choice of Dinamo Zagreb Odense Lokomotiv Moscow Man city Fenerbahce Villarreal (if pot of six)
  20. What you mean is that it's the most important thing for the sponsor's ego. I expect Clydesdale bank are happier having their name announced to a wider viewing and listening public than just a few thousand fans seeing their logo at every game.
  21. surely the strips that the fans wear are not the main priority for sponsor logo/name to be on. if we have no sponsor on the strip for the live tv game where the cameras will mostly be on the players shirts then we can start to panic. plus many people on this forum were willing to pay more for sponsorless strip so the club have satisfied that demand without increase in price. if/when we get a sponsor i'm sure you will be able to go and get a transfer added to your sponsorless shirt if you so desire.
  22. no sponsor on Euro kit from photo on main site - seems a missed opportunity
