  1. Why would you side with Vigurs? If true then totally behind Baraclough, he is the manager! I actually rate Vigurs as a player. He is technically the best footballer at the club but is inconsistent and his languid style can come across as being lazy even if he isn't necessarily lazy! However if this is the kind of attitude that Vigurs or any other player is displaying then the manager must stamp this out and show who is boss.
  2. Anyone who was at Tannadice yesterday would tell you that Lee Erwin was The 'Well's best player yesterday. He was a constant threat and Sutton benefited from having a strike partner. All Erwin lacks is a bit of composure in the final third but that will come with games and experience.
  3. Couple of possibilites here. I think that the "foreign" man apparently interviewed on Sunday could still be Pat Fenlon. The Republic of Ireland is technically overseas and this could be a smokescreen by the club. The other being could the club be waiting to see if George Burley gets the sack at Crystal Palace ? He would be a great appointment in my opinion. Would have the 'Well playing good attacking football, gives youth a chance and also would have good knowledge of the English lower league market, loans etc. As a bonus he has played for the club and would have a genuine feeling for the club. I think it would be the perfect fit for Motherwell and for Burley.
  4. I agree, people seem to forget how young Reynolds is. His main asset is his pace which not many centre backs have in the SPL. Playing beside a more dominant centre back he would really flourish. Reynolds will eventually be sold for in excess of £1 million in my opinion.
  5. Same applies to Jimmy Calderwood, John Robertson, Ian McCall and these guys get slagged off.
  6. We dismiss experience far too quickly nowadays. It's all about getting a balance and a blend. The new manager, if he isn't currently working in scottish football would benefit from a no 2 with a knowledge of the scottish game. Scottish football is also in a better state than it's given credit for by the way.
  7. Why are so may people impressed by a Sanchez or a Staunton type character ? Staunton would be a disaster in my opnion. No club experience and no knowledge of Scottish Football. Was a disaster with ROI, does no one remember the gun story ? Even as a no 2 to Gary Mac doesn't make any sense as Gary Mac would need someone with knowledge of Scottish football beside him like Wee Tommy or Craig Brown. As it happens I would like Gary Mac, a bit of a gamble but a much better gamble than russian roulette with Steve Staunton !
  8. I can assure you that I am a 'Well fan and well aware of the "history". I assume you are referring to his handball goal and being an ex jambo? I am interested in his credentials as a manager and am not small minded enough to insist our next manager needs a 'Well connection. Our best manager post war was my namesake Wee Tommy McLean and he was never forgiven in some quarters for being an ex ranger. Need I say more
  9. One name that hasn't been mentioned that I think would be a good appointment is John Robertson, ex Hearts & Inverness. He speaks well on Radio Scotland and his teams play attacking football with 3 up front. He has plenty of passion about him too and he would also be available. I recently heard a fascinating conversation between him & Stephen Craigan on Radio Scotland a few weeks ago and they were discussing football management. Craigan said he wasn't sure he was ready and wasn't sure if he would want to subject his wife to the life of a football manager. Robbo pointed out that he could perhaps be a no2 first beside an experienced manager to see if it was for him and made a joke about the 2 of them teaming up. Prophetic words perhaps ?
  10. There is absolutely no chance of Billy Davies leaving a massive club like Nottingham Forest to come back to Fir Park. My favoured choice would be Ian McCall, like him or loathe him he has done well with limited resources everywhere he has been. He had one bad season at Dundee Utd which all managers can surely be allowed. I don't want Paul Lambert, he is unproven and has everyone forgotten how badly he did at Livingston and then he chucked it when the going got tough. No thanks.
