Another good listen. On the topic of the forum and the perception that it's too negative. I've never heard of any football forum that doesn't have the same accusation thrown at it and in a way the more successful it becomes the more it will be viewed that way. Fans are coming on in the main to vent their frustrations and those who have a gripe or complaint will always be more vocal than those who have something positive to say, it's just the nature of the beast. I know there are rules and regulations regarding conduct etc for good reason but I think the forum lacks a bit of dig at times. You used to see a lot of posts being voted down but very rarely would you see someone attempt to debate the point. It would be good if a lot of the lurkers would get involved a bit more as well, something that I'm trying to do myself. I agree about the Compost Corner section, it seems to have fallen off the face of the earth recently. I'm not on Facebook but I read a similar section over on P&B regularly which is probably why I don't frequent it much here. Hopefully the success of the podcast will stimulate a bit more discussion on here too. Thoroughly enjoying them so far.

Partick Thistle V Motherwell 11/04/15 - Huge Away Crowd Expected

That's how I see it too. However, he did have a very poor game. Baraclough mentioned in his post match interview we had chances to retain possession just before the second goal and one of those was a poor touch from Sutton, which was typical of the day he had. Nothing stuck to him at all and without the link up play we had enjoyed between Erwin and McDonald in previous games the front three were completely ineffective. -

Josh Law isn't great but he's nowhere near as bad as Straker. At one point Straker turned himself inside out and decided in his wisdom to pass the ball along his own byline to a Keeper who's kicking was atrocious all day. People aren't just making up reasons to criticise him, the guy is, in your own words a bombscare which is not an accusation you can throw at Law. -

Absolute stinking first half which we probably shaded, just. If only Big John had been able to put the ball in the net after two minutes it might have been oh so different but to be fair to the defender it was a good block. Second half was a complete disaster from start to finish. The marking at the first goal was beyond ridiculous but we've been guilty of the same all season and if we haven't learnt by now we never will. Concede goals like that and you don't belong anywhere near this division. Our arses collectively collapsed and true to form we concede another sloppy goal. Game over before Baraclough has his hands out his pockets. Like most we were totally bemused by Sutton's inclusion and Bara's tactics. The pitch was bobbly as hell and any time Ainsworth got the ball there were two Thistle players all over him. Thomas made absolutely no impact when he came on either. It was not a day for players who like to run with the ball at their feet, which is where our most recent success has come from but punting long balls up to Sutton hasnt worked all season and didnt work today. Bar the scare in the first two minutes Thistle looked solid at the back and we could have played all day without scoring. County win on Monday, and it's bye bye SPFL Premiership. -
That's the thing though, most fans don't take all of the circumstances into consideration. I'll quite happily hold my hands up and admit I'm guilty of it. Though when a new manager comes in most folk expect a least some sort of a reaction but we actually looked worse, a lot worse. If he had lost the home game against ICT he would have gone and rightly so IMO, certainly not on a whim. My biggest fear was that we had employed someone who simply talked a good game. At least now we are beginning to see that there might just be some substance behind the nice chat. Onwards and upwards!

1 point from a possible 24. Not many managers survive that, no matter the circumstances. So I don't find it difficult at all to understand why folk wanted rid. Absolutely delighted he has turned us around. Let's just hope it's not all in vain.

Just listening to the podcast the now. The St Mirren fan's first line has already put me off the guy. Edited to add: I found myself becoming more annoyed at the guy the more I listened. Despite being told the Bois are made up of folk of all ages he continually referred to them as "the kids at the end of the stand". His point about trying to artificially replace something that we have lost in terms of atmosphere was also way wide of the mark imo and in many ways is typical of the attitude of some fans, particularly of a certain generation, who think to have atmosphere at a game of football it must conform to something they experienced when they went 20, 30 years ago. Times have changed, and the Bois are one of the few fans groups who are actually looking forward. I don't want to be too harsh on the guy and he deserves credit for coming on, but I couldn't connect with much of what he had to say at all. Mini rant over.

All us now

Chick Young's half time assessment baffling as usual. Great game according to him, real end to end stuff with some great skill on show, we gift Killie a goal, (we have a goal disallowed which he fails to even mention) and still equalise - yet we scarcely deserved it!? Fuck off ya fanny.
-
I'm staggered anyone would want to get rid of Sutton, but I'm biased as I love the big handsome bastard!

Like the IP board theme now that the banner is up. The snapshot theme with the petrol blue background and amber background are obviously supposed to look like the strips but I cant see the band for some reason. Might be my screen size. Edited to add, had a gander at the full version of the site on my phone and the strip themed backgrounds look much better so must be down to screen size and orientation

Not a fan of the shoutbox either. New setup looks great, well done.

I think Erwin is just desperate for a goal and is trying far too hard. His shooting of late has been very poor as has his decision making but on the positive side some of his link up play with McDonald on Fri night in the first half was fantastic. However, if we can get Johnson whipping crosses in like he did against Killie then Sutton's your man.

If they beat Inverness at home next week a victory against us at home in the last game before the split could all but see them safe. They may be ridiculously inconsistent but have shown they can score goals freely and can keep a clean sheet. If I were a Partick Thistle fan I'd be pretty confident of staying up. That doesn't even take into account us actually having to win our own games just to catch them.
-
Partick only need another 7 points to get to 38 which has been enough to keep you up in all but one of the last ten seasons if I recall correctly. The fact we would need to win three more games than them just to draw level, and then you have their superior goal difference, puts them out of our reach IMO.

I'd agree to a certain extent. The defending from the corner, particularly from those at the back post, was horribly reminiscent of the goal we lost from a corner at Tannadice. With the ball air for so long someone should at least be competing for it, although you could also argue Long should be coming and collecting. The initial save itself was absolutely outstanding and I genuinely believe if he hadn't punched the ball into the net we would be sitting here discussing a Motherwell victory. The second goal was all down to Long's head not being in the game due to his mistake all of 90 seconds earlier. The problem we have now is I don't think we can drop him. We desperately need some continuity in the team and if that means sticking with Long so be it. I fear though the already fragile confidence in the team will be utterly destroyed by that last night.

If I remember correctly, I think it was down to being closer to family, which is understandable.

That there, is the most pertinent point. We were spoiled with Ruddy and Randy and with expectations so high, whoever came in was going to struggle in comparison to those two who were quite rightly fan favourites. We were linked with Craig Samson when Randy left and I think if we had managed to get him he would still be our no 1 now. He's nothing spectacular but more than dependable, which is more than you can say about anyone who's played in goals for us since. If we had dominant centre halfs, keepers like Hollis and Dan may have stood a chance but their lack of dominance in the box meant they were always going to get the blame for our defensive woes before the likes of McManus et al. I think Long is a decent keeper, but his spectacular save to howler ratio is every bit as bad as Dan's which is worrying.

The "Championship Fans Forum of the Year" trophy is as good as in the bag!

Credit where it's due, well done to all involved for getting it on.

That didn't make the slightest bit of difference the first time the game was called off...
