  1. I remember all the hype from McLeish before his debut, I enjoyed his marauding runs but I don't think he actually knew where he wanted to go himself. That was typical of McLeish back then, he spent a pretty penny getting loads of trialists in from all over, I remember he wanted to sign a Nigerian goalie but couldn't due to a work permit issue. He also passed up signing Marvin Andrews and Stern John around 1997. Did we not actually get a decent fee for Shivute heading to China?
  2. No they introduced the extra two concussion subs than can be used at anytime without affecting your original allocation. I find it bizarre that because you use a sub for that purpose your opponent then gets another sub as well, ironically enough we just used the traditional three where St Mirren benefitted from getting the fourth with trying to shore up the defence late on. We could have done with this rule a few years back when we played Killie and lost Dunne, McHugh and Mbulu to headknocks early in the game.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised tbh, I watched them play Aberdeen the other week and the only shot on target from either team came from St Mirren and ended up being a goal. It's really windy ootside as well, hopefully VV is on form, looking forward to seeing the new forward in action but no doubt he'll be on the bench. Donnelly will be back from suspension, not heard a peep about Maguires injury. Three points would be massive as that would put us ten in front of them.
  4. Like the other poster said, it's funny how people view the game differently. I just felt he slowed the play down far to often, I don't know how often he spun in a circle taking the ball from his right foot onto his left when Woolery and O'Donnell had space to maraude forward. While he did bring out a comfortable save from Hamilton in goal, he tried a long ranger at one point when he had many bodies blocking him and his shot almost put us in a spot of bother, thankfully that Ugwe put in a powderpuff cross. The main thing is we got through to the next stage of the competition, thanks to a bit of quality from our hide and seek champions never the less.
  5. I'm just delighted to get through to the next round as we have been beaten by far worse tbh. I was quite surprised that lots of people have chosen Maguire for MOTM in the other thread, I thought he seemed really nervy and I don't know how often he swivvled round in a circle to play the ball with his left foot as it stifled the attack on numerous occasions. If we started with VV up top I think we would have won the game in the 90 minutes, Morton rarely threatened but they probably should have done better with the shot right on the 45th minute. The only other shot they had ended up in the back of net. Morton fans seem to think Mr Walsh gift wrapped the game for us but I think he done alright to be fair, overly fussy yes but he didn't get anything major wrong. I thought Morton were quite robust with some challenges and got lots of soft free kicks around the middle of park. The penalty incident was quite ludicrious from the Morton defender as if he tried to head it he would have won that battle against Tierney all day but instead he pushed him to the deck. I've been wanting to see Carroll back in at left back, I would admit I would rather he didn't slot back in at the centre of defensive, he lost a lot of headers, a better side would obviously punish that. It was nice to see Imrie freak out after our winner, after the initial thousand yard stare after he realised what happened he was raging with someone on his bench, Andy Millen I think. Loved his tirade of F's. I was massively dissapointed in the lack of Mattress songs. Least he'll remember his first mangerial lost was to Motherwell, with a 120th minute peach. Just on another note, after our winner the last 30 seconds was utter madness, Kelly almost handling out the box and both Carroll and McGinley slicing the ball backwards.
  6. Can't beat a game under the floodlights. Hopefully an exciting encounter like earlier in the season with the scoreline in our favour of course. Alexander doesn't make wholesale changes but I would actually be happy seeing Ojala or Mugabi (assuming he's fit) in for Carroll as McGinley won't be getting dropped. Slattery back in midfield for Maguire, Van Veen back up top instead of Shields and I would have been more than happy to see Tierney come in after his initial impression but still unsure where he would fit apart from changing formation. I actually thought Amaluzor done really well in his 15 minute spell against Morton, I would be happy to give him a chance instead of Woolery but can't see Alexander doing that. So I'm sure it will be Kelly O'Donnell - Solholm - Ojala - McGinley Slattery - Donnelly - Goss Woolery - Van Veen - Roberts Andrew Dallas is the ref for the game.
  7. Agreed. He was in my year at school, always an unlikeable wee fud. Motherwell have knocked him back on three occasions that I know of so he and his family never took kindly to that either. Can't confirm if he shat his Y fronts at school but his maw is certainly a mattress.
  8. Andy Rose retires from playing at the age of 31 . He is moving into a coaching role with Seattle Sounders in the MLS.
  9. Yeah I would agree with that, if it was loss of form or such I would have been delighted to give him a chance but the guy has had to many issues the past few years, he was supported though his mental health break at Celtic but since his return he seems to make the headlines every few months for the wrong reasons and he hasn't exactly set the heather on fire at Dens. Sad to see Tony Watt go tbh, when he signed I thought he would do a decent job for us in the short term but for two years he played consistenly well considering his struggles at Hearts and St Johnstone, it was also great seeing him get on the goal trail more consistently this season, what annoys me is I remember in a few of his interviews that he pointed out how delighted he was at Motherwell and their was no point chasing a couple of hundred pounds elsewhere. I don't know if Dundee Utd are paying him a pretty penny or it's he just can't settle down somewhere, he'll have played for more clubs than Paul Kinnaird before he retires. It'll be interesting to see how his move turns out, hopefully a repeat of Nick Blackman heading to Aberdeen.
  10. Dougie Imrie charged by SFA over betting offences.
  11. He must have a smashing big tadger if it true, seems like a massive downgrade imo. I know we beat St Johnstone to the signature of Liam Shaw but I've seen they're trying to sign a defender from Inverness called Robbie Deas, they want a six figure fee for him with the first being rejected. I know we are alright defensively at present but I wonder if hes one we will be looking at.
  12. We were interested in signing Ash Taylor during the summer but he rebuffed our advances to sign for a team down in England. He has just signed for Kilmarnock, obviously he had played under McInnes at Aberdeen during two spells but I think he had a link to Alexander. Obviously it wasn't a position we needed to fill at this point, just interesting how things turn out.
  13. We blew them away in a Scottish Cup tie in what must be going on 6 or 7 years now, I think it was 5-0 in the first half going on 10. I was obviously delighted to win that tie but it was annoying we came out for the second half with no real emphasis in getting out of the first gear again, I was convinced we were beating the 8 goals we put past Flamurtari. As for next weekend, I think we will advance but it will be a tough nut to crack, they had a great result under Imrie and have been playing consistently, hopefully we continue on with the grove we were in. 2-0 with a VV double.
  14. Get your username changed to Karens Boy quick smart.
  15. Looking forward to the game, I've not travelled to Dingwall since our first competitive meeting against them in 2012. I was hoping to get along on this occasion, exciting month ahead with so many fixtures clogging up the schedule. We had been enjoying a great run of form from the start of November, hopefully the break wasn't too disruptive to the side. I feel like there has been been lots of 2-1 scorelines in recent fixtures between the side, I feel this will be no different. Van Veen to keep his scoring run going and Mugabi bettering his salmon leap from last year.
  16. I would give Gogic a wide berth, Alexander has done well to move on some of the dead wood in the last few months no point adding more. I must admit I have no recollection of him bossing Campbell either (not suggesting thats not the case) but he always came across as a defender who suffered brain farts regularly, as the user mentioned above he had a horror show at Fir Park when Hastie, Turnbull, Gorrin, Campbell and Gboly had the side 3-0 up in the first half a few seasons ago and the guy was taken off post haste as a result. Really sad about the Watt situation, he had a great rapport with the fans and was enjoying the form of his life. Obviously it's probably for the best if he moves on this window, acceptable transfer fee permitting of course, as even though it was only 500 fans in attendance versus Livi, lots of the fans seem to have made their minds up already on him. Its a funny situation as Liam Shaw arrives on loan from Celtic and will go back at the end of the season, Jordan Roberts has had two similar spells and been fully supported yet Watt will be booed on and off the pitch sadly should he remain. Looking forward to seeing the young guy Tierney as he was highly thought off from his time with Bohemians.
  17. Was listening to SMc 's interview on BBC there and he goes on to talk about the height advantage they had. Makes you wonder why he resorted to Craig Broon's punt the baw up the park at every chance tactic.
  18. I fancy taking in the game on sat, where is it you purchase tickets from assuming there's any left? Ive checked both clubs websites and can't find any mention of tickets for our support.
  19. 2-0 Well. Watched Hibs game earlier, hope they have another performance defensively like that. Murphy and Ojamaa.

    Vs Hearts

Yeah seen that it was that Stephen Elliott congratulating him.Not the first time ive seen Hearts doing that. Sending off just seemed to spark us back into life thought, almost a whole half with ten men and should have won by more, terrific performance by the lads.

    Cup Final Tickets

Agreed, i can't imagine how they could feel comfy in amongst such a big well support. Hope we weed any tim out, seeing any getting a good kicking would be good for morale.
  23. Liking quite alot of the merchandise for the final. Think I will be in before the Rangers game to purchase some. Will be sure to be fully bathed in claret and amber for the final.

    Cup Final Tickets

Has there been any indication of how many we are getting? A few of the guys I work with both of whom a celtic supporters seem to think we are getting half the allocation.
